EDIT: smurfy is up again

Strange that nobody did a thread about that yet.
https://mwo.smurfy-net.de/ is dead for a few days now.
Is it shut down? Does anybody know anything? RIP?

Where can one now get the entire equipment table and especially ghost heat scales from?
The only place I know would be this:
https://mwomercs.com.../list/full.json
which is quite cumbersome to work with.

Sad news.

Smurfy has always been my go-to site for designing new 'Mech builds.

I know that there are one or two similar sites, but I really liked the Smurfy's 'MechLab layout.

It's possible the owners are going to update the database and decided it was easier to simply shut down the site until them. It was already out of date to begin with.

Until then there is the cauldron site but it has the future changes already in play. https://thecauldron.nav-alpha.com/

I honestly prefer Smurfy. It's easier to find mechs, a bit easier in the eyes too.

You're amongst the first ones to discover smurfy-net.de is down...

Smurfy-net.de was definitely up on 2-April-2021,
just before the Easter long weekend holidays...

There's another forum thread asking for alternatives to smurfy.de
http://mwomercs.com/...ves-to-smurfyde

A GREAT loss IMHO...

MechDB has made smurfy's mechlab obsolete years ago. In addition to the theorycrafting fork linked earlier, there's still the basic version available: https://mech.nav-alpha.com/

Mech DB is great, but Smurfy carried/carries the ghost heat and equipment information in a better format.

Would be so nice if MWO actually had tables for the Ghost Heat categories.....
What a crazy idea to have the game maker actually share the rules for how the game is supposed to work.

Exactly. that's the gap in Mech DB that has had me continue using Smurfy. if Mech DB would have equipment stats instantly handy like Smurfy, there would be no debate.

I would disagree, smurfy still had all the equipment listed and the ghost heat table which mechdb doesnt have.
(And I know mechdb for a long time.)

Well... Now how we could retrieve the exported builds, if possible...

i think mechdb has replaced it. but smurfy still had a lot of mech and weapon stats (likely out of date) that mechdb hasnt really implemented yet. made it easy to look up obscure things like ghost heat penalties and limits. hint hint mechdb devs.

that said i have transitioned to the mechdb for all my mech build theory crafting.

I like Smurfy for quickly looking up weapon and item stats. MechDB makes that bit take longer.

Smurfy website is up again, at least as of right now 7-April-2021 !

http://mwo.smurfy-net.de

http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/equipment

******For those who still have "saved" mech layouts, now is the time to secure these for prosperity!

Personally, I'm still hoping/wishing that Smurfy.de would stay around and update its values to reflect the weapons/equipment for that 20-April-2021 patch, and update mech list for the new mechs (MAD-9M, KGC-001, WHM-9D, CPLT-C2, as well as the Stryker Booster Pack TDR-10SE, DRG-1G).

IMHO, for Weapons/Equipment stats & Ghost Heat, there Smurfy.de is simply unique in its easy to use/access presentation! No other MWO related website even comes close to its usefulness!

Well, let's get started to "transplant" Smurfy builds to the MechDB, to be certain... ;)

Once, I could even "import" the build to one Android app, but it's currently EOL.

Yeeees... if only there was a way to save our ideas without a website... hmmm...
