What can I say? I watched B33F group dropping with various players. I'm pretty sure all Tier 1 so I doubt he's encountering low level players. And he commented multiple times how if feels like everything hurts more.

Like I said, very entertaining. And I support the vast majority of the Cauldron changes (all save the lock-on nerfs in fact). But I didn't expect this level of obliteration because I figured the lower skill players, while getting buffs to their non-meta builds, still wouldn't have the skill to fully utilize them. But it seems like there are a lot more 60, 70, 80 pt alphas running around now and it shows. Even if its a spray and pray sandblaster from a Tier 3 scrub.

There's also a lot of returning players that are true tier 1s currently in Tier 4-5 (a certain SJR group comes to mind) that'll delete people in the low tiers right now. You should definitely try out the game again

Yeah a lot of returning players are going to be Tier 5.

I know Juju Shinobi and a number of other high skill guys who are going to be diving back in. Things are going to be quite a mess for a few weeks until that settles down.

so far seems my TTD has gone down a lot.. not sure how much is weapon changes and how much it is the experienced players in lower tiers, but I am consistently dying very fast in tier 4/5 games

I haven't seen any difference in T1 ttk, but I have seen a lot of build variety and have enjoyed trying new things out.

I been getting my butt kicked in all day- but these have been some of the funnest matches I’ve had in a long time.
A lot of build diversity.
A lot less frequency of nascar matches.
A lot less 0-12 matches...
TTK seems to have gotten longer- not sure why? (I’m guessing this is because people are trying different builds or skilling up their new toys... idk?)

And the best part is... there seems to be enough players in the buckets that most matches have different pilots then the previous match... occasionally there is some overlap here and there, but it isn’t the same 18-24 players every que! Hopefully this means the active player counts are up?

I hope this trend keeps going!

There are a lot of people coming back in. I noticed some very familar names that I had not seen for a long time.

....I really wish PGI should had at least try do something about dividing solo and group q.

Yeah a lot of returning players are going to be Tier 5.

Just to correct that, actually returning players - using their old accounts - will be in Tier 3.

Yes, that means they'll still poison the T5 pool due to the matchmaker, but it's not like they're smurfing.

That's not true at all, anyone that hasn't played since the PSR reset is now in Tier 5

That is simply incorrect. Please do not correct me if you are not right.

If you did not play more than 25 games after the PSR reset and before Dec 2020 - You start in Tier 5.
The only way you would be Tier 3 is if you played more than 25 games between JUN and DEC 2020

The patch notes that relate to this change.

As you know I'm a one issue type of guy. I said I wouldn't play till we got a solo queue again and I have kept my word on that. Still very interested in the game (hence me spending time in the forums), but I'm not changing my stance on soup queue. I'll be back the day they split the queues.

I said "actually returning players".

A player who has abandoned the game for the stated period of six months does not have a recurring interest in it, and merely is picking it back up with an account that PGI has conveniently not deleted.

There are tons of returning players that haven't played since 2017/2018 that are "actually returning players", so I don't know what you're talking about. They are all in tier 5, even all the former Div A comp players.

You've just created your own definition in that "returned" only applies for anyone in the last 6 months? Despite the fact they may have played for 7 years prior?

That is absolute nonsense.

I stopped playing before the psr reset. I was tiers 1. I came back 3 days ago and started from tiers 5.

I've also seen more trading and less nascar. We'll see if this holds, and it may have partly been because my group decided to try out range builds first and so dictated that some matches would be tradey. Either way it's been good so far.

Not all weapons. Some missiles got less deadly and AMS got a buff, for example. Overall, the buffs are small. Needed, but small.

Me, I’m looking forward to the light and medium mechs with light PPC’s. No minimum range is going to revamp a lot of builds.

the no minimum range change may be a great move. problem i see is coupled with the ppc speed changes the ppc again becomes a great 1 hit location butcher at nearly any range. excited to see how this change pans out.

I will say, that the vibe and shift in the air in recent months gives me hope for the franchise, enough so that I'm actually posting here again :)

The initial reset put everyone back to T3. Then they updated that, an now anyone returning after a long absence will be T5.
