I love the concept but dislike the choices made.

Some clan assaults are getting bigger buffs than IS assaults that are never used.

Zeus and Banshee are barely getting any buffs to agility compared to other chassis, so now they are going to be even worse in comparison.

Will the cauldron give these chassis armor quirks or something instead?

I feel like banshee\zeus need their its xl380 agility back.

It's less that they are buffing Clans and not doing the same for IS so much as somewhat randomly picking winners and losers with this patch. The Vulcan and Vapor Eagle not getting a buff makes sense since they are very strong chassis, however the Victor and Gargoyle not getting a buff does not make sense. The Atlas getting a 60% accel buff, a 66% decel buff, and a 29% turn speed buff is nice, but other mechs shouldn't be given the cold shoulder.

So once again a 100 ton mech will be able to face its rear in less than 1 second?

I guess that's a problem if you want to stand in one spot for a second while the assault turns around?

The Victor and Gargoyle are already quite agile for assaults, that is presumably why they aren't getting much more agility. The most agile mechs, across the board, are not receiving much in the way of agility, the most sluggish mechs are.

Jeez Gas, as an Assault pilot just take your buffs and go quietly snickering into the night, no need to rub it in.

That still is effectively a nerf for these mech though. The Gargoyle in particular relies very heavily on being able to outmaneuver heavy and assault mechs and since it cannot downgrade its engine, it can't really switch its playstyle and choose to fulfill another role. This take a mech that wasn't seen very often and make it worse.

I think that the changes overall are still a good thing. I just strongly disagree with ignoring weak mechs for buffs, just because mobility is one of the few areas that they weren't previously poor at.

I don't sense objective opinions here, IRONING-BIRD.

That being said, I subjectively like assault mechs, but lately its been easier to be consistent in lighter mechs.

And if I may add one other thing, the person in question likes Jenners, isn't the Jenner way to play 6 ER/ML and not worry about butt-hugging chonky bois?

Taking nerfs in stride is different from rubbing it in.

Besides, no appreciation for my wordplay? Snicker = laugh scornfully, into the night, night's scorn, get it? lol

Haha admittedly I didn't catch that.

I wouldn't say I was rubbing anything in though.

And this is where I am starting to lose a bit of hope..... I have yet to see to many references about good things coming for lights. I know this is new to everyone and all.. I know that this is all up and the air, and I do appreciate all the work. However I just do not see how outside of MEGA buffs for most lights (which I am not advocating for) any type of balance will be achieved through the weight classes. Do not get me wrong, I know some do need help. But damn its a slaughterhouse out there at the moment with the weapons patch.

There are a lot of buffs planned for lights, especially 'ultra' lights like the Locust. A lot of these buffs are in the form of quirks for both offensive, defensive and especially sensors. Some quirks for extremely underperforming Mechs will be in the 40% range.

Hello, i love the new Changes, they will breath fresh Air in the Way mechs are driven.

The Awesome Pretty Baby seems a bit on the low side when you think that he was the first mech able to fit an XL 400 Engine, and has far to few Hardpoints.
When you think that the Boarshead outshines him in Mobility , thats not realy what i think of an Pretty Baby, i mean even in the Promotion Vid he was shown Capping Points because hes so fast an Nimble.

We have some special plans for the Pretty Baby that would make it a very good Mech (hard to believe I know). If we cannot implement this plan we are working on now, I think a great way to make it at least somewhat relevant would be a huge mobility boost.

Maybe this isn't the place to ask, but does/will the agility patch also include JJ buffs (see Ash's Kodiak vid of a couple weeks ago)?

Awesome Pretty Baby needs help, she's a fatty with effectively 2 energy and 3 missile hardpoints strewn about willy-nilly. Perhaps she is just too ugly in every way, but if anyone can save her it's The Cauldron.

JJs will get some big buffs! See above comment on Pretty Baby.

Banshees will be getting big defensive quirks (only one currently has decent defensive quirks). The Banshees (again except one) currently have quite good agility.

Zeus we are still working on for quirks, but a few of them are not as bad as people perceive. The 5 LPL Zeus for example performs quite well.

So based on this you don't realize that this is a work in progress and that we are still awaiting the announcement of the quirk pass. It's really too early to pass judgement on whether X mech is being buffed and Y mech is being nerfed.

Anyway, both the Victor and Gargoyle are currently quite strong in some roles, so it's not like they're bad mechs.

Standing still in one spot is not the problem. When assault mechs could do this, it was nigh impossible to stay out of their LOF because they moved like dancing ballerinas. Since the De-Sync and reduction in mobility, lights actually had a fair shot at taking down that isolated assault.

ER ML's ugh.... way way to hot. Believe it or not, my best preforming Jenner was the 6 SPL F and the 4 SPL and 2 SRM 4 D. But as the saying goes..... Size does matter.

A - If this is a problem, I would rather make lights MORE agile than nerf assaults.

B - I ran 6 MLs when I ran the Jenner, but I included the ER in there because admittedly I haven't tried it since they got buffed to be not so hot.

I commented this topic in wrong thread so i copy my feelings here.

I mainly had a look on the assault at the moment and I have noticed that there is an overall increase or buff to acceleration. However there is something i don't understand, the already agile mech received little to nothing increase while other slower mech received major increased.

How i see it it's a nerf to the already agile mech, because there is an overall increase accross the board except for these ones. For example Zeus and Cyclops received basically nothing while Mad cat II and Marauder IIC received a good one and i believe they are already pretty better mech and not underperforming at all, while Zeus is clearly is in my opinion. I don't remember the last time i saw a Zeus.

it's like you try to make everything similar to each other while they should be different, that's the purpose of having different mech.
In overall the changes are welcome especially for the really slow one as Atlas and kodiak it's just that i disagree to not buff the already agile mech and buff the already good performing mech.
Another thing i'm a bit worried is the torso speed increase which could hurt a lot the ligh playstyle.

thanks

I think that is because the assaults that you mentioned on the IS side already had good mobility for assaults. Any remaining imbalance is to be addressed through quirks, rather than solely just agility.

Super quirked and agile assaults versus lights, time to get all the newbs out of the highest skill level weight class.

Unless it is +100% armor and structure quirks, the mobility listed for lights in this pass aren't enough to keep lights viable for most pilots.

You'd literally need to start at +50% for what is listed for locusts and move down from there.

I mean look at the Vulcan, a medium, is still more agile than most lights.

Yeah that is a good question... the Vulcan is great, why is its agility higher than so many lights? I just looked at accel and turn rate to make a simple comparison.

Yep, among 35 and 30 ton lights, the Cauldron mobility pass has only the spider and a few variant of the jenner as being more agile than the Vulcan.

If they would to balance this correctly, only the urbie, kitfox, cougar, adder, and panther should be less agile than the Vulcan due to low engine caps. If you compare 40 to 45 tonners, the 35 tonners with the same role as the Vulcan should be 15% more agile than it. The 30 tonners should be 30% more when comparing 50 tonners to the Vulcan.
