Drop the prices in game by 50% permanently. Quit doing free mech bribes to get people to play the game.

There's never really been a time where lore builds or kitchen sink builds have been good in this game, but those builds have in theory also improved given that weapons across the board have been improved in viability
Chassis that force you into a generalist build like the Centurion-D or Shadow Hawk Grey Death are still has hard to play as ever. But chassis with more choice have benefited greatly. Still not meta, but betta.

There is no "going to unreal", as setting the game up in Unreal would be the same as making the game all over again. Perhaps there could be a MWO 2 in Unreal, but you can't really transfer the current game to another engine.

Im fine with this as it would be something. I would play mwo2 beta over the next 6 years as I listen to PGI promises about how great it will be; At the same time missing deadlines after deadlines

String me on PGI or should I say Enad Global 7

The devs did talk about it in a stream awhile back. They said it would take ~2 years and cost a couple million to essentially make the same game in Unreal (and I assume that's with re-using art assets from MWO or MW:5.)
They didn't say it specifically, but the implication is that they might do it if they think it'll pay off. And part of why they were looking at getting MWO going again was to gauge if there was enough interest to invest in MWO 2.

Yes there are some hero's that remain out of reach for a time, but with those same events that I just mentioned plus equally ubiquitous sales, a ftp play can buy that Ultraviolet or any other mech they want in pretty short order.
[redacted]
Unless you have a very strange definition of 'pretty short order', then that simply isn't true. Even on sale an Ultraviolet costs 4687 MC which is more MC than you'll get in 6 months even if you're really lucky in the loot bag events and likely more than you'll get in 9 months. And as I pointed out earlier new players will likely be buying quite a few mechbays using the MC that they do get, so it will likely take even longer. If a new ftp player is interested in a few of the hero assaults it would take years to get enough MC to buy more than a couple. Years is definitely not 'in pretty short order'.

"No way, it will either be dead, or replaced by a sequel."
It had a good run.
I check the forums to see if I should come back. Since they made TTK faster again, I will probably reinstall next time I see a big balance pass that increases armor + agility. So far the small agility buffs arent enough to tempt me. TTK has been too fast since clans came out.
Game was best with 3025-3039 tech, just like Battletech.
If people want mechs that die in 2-4 shots, why arent they just playing a tank game instead?
Peek-n-poke sucks.

I've played the game immediately pre- and post-agility buffs, and the effect on mechs like the Firestarter and Atlas are significant
With the SPL buff and mobility the Firestarter is, incredibly, a top-tier mech again. And that's before a potential rescale.

Its already almost short of 2022 and if 22 is not the year of surge i dont see one happen ever again.
Problem is imo that they fix things that annoy the players that stood and refresh their game experience but i do not see them address the issues that made people leave since the great 2017 unfunning and everything that has happen since.
Maps wont bring back gamers if the fricking skilltree stays etc...
MWO is an outright hostile gaming experience for new gamers not bcs the playerbase is so hostile (it is in fact rather kind and friendly compared to others) but the game intimidates/overwhelms you if you have never played a Mechwarrior/Battletech game with complexity - it fails at the "easy to learn hard to master" premise!
MWO is a "hard to get into hard to stay in game" in its current iteration with skilltree, hundreds of mechvariants, to little wiggleroom to experiment, to harshly punishing inexperience type of gameplay.
New players need clear roles in uncomlicated Mechs in matches that gradualy increase the complexity so they have a chance to grow instead of being overwhelmed and they need to grow by playing and making their own experiences and learn from their own mistakes bcs you learn much better that way.
So far the changes cater to the players still playing and their associates which is not meant as judgement but as statement and it may motivate the surviving whales spending a little over the life that still nests in MWO.

Anything outside of lore build should be out of spec and require more maintenance. Never mind repair/rearm that got 86'ed. I've said it a thousand times. If its snowflake special like the Millenium Falcon. Guess what. Get ready to be wrenching on it all the time. They never used BattleTech Negative quirks. We got bs quirks in the first place.
Despite my unpopular opinion on this matter because of the anti-lore/super meta crowd. What really matters is this game is now truly old. People are gonna flock to the new shinys. ALSO this was always niche.

customization is half the fun of this game and your idea is basically a tax on fun. If you wanna play lore builds then may I recommend this game
also you do know that people who are all about the meta would just ... find the new meta if this happened.

anyone can do well in a meta mech with a meta build. the real challenge and fun is to do just as well in a so called "trash mech" with a sub optimal build.

Sorry, you lost me right from the get go. I am no PGI cheerleader, but for the last several years its been non-stop events that cater specifically to ftp players, and for the better part of the last year with monthly mech give-aways its become even more of a ftp paradise. Yes there are some hero's that remain out of reach for a time, but with those same events that I just mentioned plus equally ubiquitous sales, a ftp play can buy that Ultraviolet or any other mech they want in pretty short order. I just bought a Deathstrike (finally) with loot bag MC.
Haven't put in money in a bit: got the dire hero[omg do I suck with it] and cobracat[ac20x2 go boom :3] and I probably should put in some thing, maybe get a mc pack...
