Goddamn maybe these Assault pilots are on to something, Lights are incredibly OP. I just came out of a match in my Flea with a whopping 53 damage, but I managed to get a kill assist on a Blood Asp, and clearly something is wrong there. My puny Light should not have been able to scratch the paint of such a majestic beast.
Its too bad some gauss sniper managed to land a hit on my from across the map as I was trying to climb out of the canyon.

Lights still aren't OP at all. That's how 9:5 vs 3 Lights turns into almost 12:11 (SNS has already lost one leg).

P.S. Funny thing. Many guys here say "Equip SSRM and nullify all Lights". SNC was exactly SSRM boat with Tag equipped. But it was almost useless due to ECM, countering Tag at close range.

A: What are you trying to demonstrate with this screenshot? That you had an ok game?

B: People haven't said to put streaks on to hunt lights in ages. You seem to be operating with outdated information, but considering you haven't changed your gameplay even slightly in the 9 years you've been playing, that's not surprising.

C: Lights are not OP and nothing you have said in this entire thread, or anywhere else has ever demonstrated otherwise. You continue to demand unreasonable levels of performance, and you clutch your pearls when you don't get it and people drag you for it. You will continue to be heavily criticized by pretty much everyone here who has an ounce of honesty in them, until you stop openly pushing your malformed, misinformed, disingenuous narrative.

That's not exactly true. Streaks have on occasion been mentioned even during his most recent ramblings, simply because - despite the nerfs - streak boats like a certain Artic Wolf can still pretty much delete those lights that he is most upset about: PIRs of all but the A-flavour don't survive streak bombardments because of the explicitly biased hit distribution towards side and center torsos. Non-stealth Fleas don't do that much better in that situation.

I out damaged everyone in a LPL Spider 5V last night. 914 points. We still lost because Incursion, but yeah. You know your team mates are bad when....

It is interesting that there is a thread that was created just a week ago - That Feeling When You Come Up With A Build You Like - where the original poster praises Streak SRMs: "... and I now no longer need to worry about sodding lights in fact I actively hunt those little sods".

Just going to post here:
My free Executioner A, now tricked out with 2 LB10X's and quad CER Medium lasers went up against two lights the other day, a cougar and a Spider.
The Spider escaped mostly intact but with little armour left, and the Cougar threw itself into a canyon after losing a side torso, where I was disinclined to follow as an actual threat in the form of a Hellbringer and Centurion had shown up.

Yesterday I was killed by a Firestarter (I think, might have been a Piranha I wasnt paying much attention) who MG'd me to death........
After I had been badly mangled whilst facing down 4 enemy Mechs, 2 of the Assault range along with a Heavy and Medium. And I still ripped his armour open before I went down.

In another match last night my Archer (4 LRM20/ 1LRM 5/ 4 ERML) was ganged up on by three Lights. I stayed close to some teammates, drove them off then nailed two with missile fire before the main push overran our position

Got to say, Lights dont seem to be an issue.

Except ecm DOSN'T COUNTER TAG. A tag held onto an ecm will counter the ecm. I say boy,I say boy, you need to add in c/bap and possible a uav to counter those other ecm mechs around you and FIRE AT THEM WITH WEAPONS!

ECM on stealth mechs can’t be countered by TAG, BAP/CAP or UAV. Only PPC or NARC hit. That means, a pure streak boat with TAG and BAP can’t get target locks at all if within 120m (or whatever the range is these days) of a stealth mech.

PGI has said that’s by intention. It’s also why I only ever go half streaks, rather than full streak boat.

I guess, it's not about stealth. It's about fact, that ECM jams all targeting within it's range. So, no matter, if you have Tag or not - you can't target anything within ECM range, because your targeting is jammed. This is why SSRMs are so useless.

How is Tag supposed to counter ECM then? Well, I guess, other pilots from outside of ECM range can target this Light, if you use Tag on it.

It is important to stay with the team if you know that there is a marauding pack of light 'Mechs out there, so other friendly 'Mechs can actually help you.

Game is in terrible state now. This has never happened during holiday event before. What is reason for so terrible matchmaking even in Tier 4?

You are either tossed in with people that have no clue how to play,

You are tossed in with top t1's running meta builds that are awesome.


IMO that is the biggest issue with the game. I am not a top player by far, but when i drop in a good mech with the low guys i am a top player. I know it's a population thing, if we would get another 20k active players it would be so much better. But i honestly would rather wait an extra min or two to play a match with people more my level.

another issues is the system it self.. If i fun heavies and assaults i go up.. If i run meds and lights i go down. In some ways it's a good thing because i won't end up playing with folks i'm just not as good as. At the same time i should not be playing with cadets.

what is the solution?

As you have noticed, the root of the problem is the low number of active players.

There are no good solutions: Keeping Tiers strictly separate would lead to longer waiting times. A minute or two longer waiting for T3, noticeably longer for T2 and T4, and T1 and T5 would have to wait much longer. And you can not let people wait for too much long, because they would leave the game.

However, this is a matchmaker problem and the thread about light 'Mechs being OP is not the right place for it. Posted Image

But seriously, the matchmaker sorts players according their PSR and their PSR is based on the Match Score and the Match Score is very influenced by the dished out damage and Assault 'Mechs with their massive firepower can dish out a lot of damage.

Unless something in the last patch changed tag most certainly counters stealth mechs because I can get lit at range in my stealth mechs if a tag paints me long enough.

I didn’t explain it well sorry, as I made my post when I was very tired.

The original post of that led to that said their streak missiles and TAG combo were blocked by ECM disruption preventing getting locks. Someone said that ECM doesn’t counter TAG, and they should get BAP/CAP to counter the disruption effect.

I was replying to that post specifically, meaning that the disruption effect of ECM from Stealth mechs can’t be countered, except by PPC/NARC turning off stealth. It wasn’t meant to be a general statement, it related specifically to the context of those posts.

Stealth/ECM has two parts - the disruption effect, which can’t be countered by using TAG, and the stealth effect, which can be countered by TAG. So yes, you can get targeted by a streak boat, if you’re being tagged and outside of disruption range.
