We tried this and it was horrible. Making players fix their own orphaned nodes would have been the worst possible option.
This automatic Orphan relock and refund is the best option to keep player skill trees intact and allow them to reskill on a mech by mech basis.
Huh... I guess that I'll be paying considerable attention to the Re-Lock & Refund Info when the incoming Patch hits. Unlike many others, I'm unfortunately a rather object-oriented person (
and would not be surprised if I'm not the only one around here) at times. To have all the Skill Nodes snap out of place is going to massively disorient me, as I thought I would get to visually collect information and then reconfigure to follow the new system based on it. I suppose it will be a small journey to get my Mechs all tuned up again.
I'm guessing it also caused a massive headache with trying to code things properly too?

This 5 GSP per mech injection is on top of what you already have.
Cool... I'll be looking forward to the ~1500+ GSP bump in my case.
And also a big THANK YOU for replying and giving constructive feedback & thoughts! It's very much appreciated!

PTS is snapshot of live data from a point in time with us modifying values for testing purposes. Its pretty clearly stated in the PTS news post that Live and PTS do not carry purchases earnings or changes over.
As Mitch Hedberg so expertly observed "My friend showed me a photo and said "Here's a picture of me when I was younger". Every picture is of you when you were younger."

The test server did not copy your resources, they gave piles of MC, C-Bills, and GSP to everyone to play with.
I don't know why anyone would lose General Skill Points, nothing would use them and they are already there, so no copying involved. You will get an injection of mechs owned x 5 GSP. That's it.
My apologies to both of you on this part. I was used to how they handled the resource data on the PTS about four years ago, when I was last able to get into one. The previous folk setting up the PTS had this thing about adding the extra on top of the amounts at the time of snapshot. I guess that I got too familiar with that, and it threw off my perception of things.

Wow, MWO/PGI so player/customer friendly?
I'm not used to this!
Please note that I'm *not* complaining!
*Thank you PGI & MWO* !
And also does PGI's '
Matt Newman' from the MWO Team get an additional thanks here, as he replied back and settled most of the confusion in my head. If he can do more of keeping this up, plus '
Daeron Katz' along with him, and maintain an open channel with the whole crowd, then there's a reasonable high chance that MWO can make some real steps forward in terms of Community and enjoyment for all. Transparency and friendliness are critical if any company does not want to lose the Community of people which are present, so it's a big win for all involved!
