We don't have to get rid of the new one.

We have Frozen City, Frozen City Night, Frozen City with Ice Cream, and the same is true of forest colony.

We can have multiple versions at the same time.

I'd rather we get rid of excessive variants so we don't have to vote form which forest colony you want to play today.

That's interesting, but I don't think two forest colonies have popped up on the same vote.

No, and actually I think the classic maps should be refined or removed too. They can be left in for private matches and special events. They're too small for 12v12. If the "new" versions were too divergent, those should be changed to make them more classic instead.

Sure. More variety more better. While were dreaming (this would never get the backing of the Cauldron, so it's dead on arrival whatever your poll results say) add back old Terra Therma, old Polar (I still believe it was the best brawling map in the game LRM fans be damned), and Bog night (the most atmospherically unique experience this game offered). Hell, maybe throw in old Caustic too so at least folks could have one caustic map they would be willing to vote for.

They most certainly do. I've seen all three in the same vote screen.

I miss the old HPG (circa 2020) map...

Just call it HPG Classic!

No, the complexity of the central structure and accessible edge walls slow rotation down nicely. Old HPG was a bag of shite.

New HPG is awful, and continues a bad map practice that with the latest set of redesigns. Low center area with a high rim on the edge of the main area just perfect for ERLL/Gauss spam. At least previous HPG made this less likely.

The most egregious part of old HPG was basement and its existence which of course was carried over to the new HPG. I don't think the latest maps/changes have been great in the past couple of years, all the ones I can think of have made maps worse (Caustic is the most egregious).

new HPG has a hilarious amount of cover from snipers, it's just most MWO pubbies do not understand how to use cover so they give up immediately the moment a blue laser tickles them

You can get cover, but what do you do with it half the time? In puggies it is less of an issue because the enemy is dumb enough to come to you 50% of the time, but I could see in more coordinated environments this being more awful. I would take NASCAR on the old map over the claustrophobic nonsense that is the central area.

The the thing the older map needed was really a ramp on both sides instead of a ramp on only one side, that or some other interesting terrain feature that leveraged verticality a bit better. I've definitely noticed the newer maps also continue the trend of just adding so much clutter, and I don't know what the goal is with the abundance of clutter other than making it awful when you get stuck on some stupid meter high platform that happens to exist and your mech can move up it.

And I love it for this reason, but not because I play sniper builds. Quite the opposite, I like playing fast mediums. And here’s a map that practically BEGS the low DPS snipers to voluntarily separate from their team and stand in an area with little cover and few escape routes! Crunch, crunch go the snipers!

There's enough cover, but if you take centre without checking where the enemy is and they happen to rain fire down on you, yeah you get hemmed in. I don't particularly like basement, it has some value in Conquest but it could have been redesigned, maybe by exposing the structure more by adding extra routes in.

Nascar isn't that bad... compared to sitting in a bowl surrounded by snipy fycks everywhere up there.

PS. Old Caustic and HPG were both nice and I prefer both of them over new ruined versions very greatly.

I was fine with the old HPG and the old Polar. I'd like to see them back in rotation.

But my favorite map to play in the last two years was the short-lived accidental Tourmaline Desert, with no clutter to trip up on, and nowhere for backstabbers to hide and ambush from. Too bad people advocating for it to stay were ignored. Posted Image

In all honesty, the biggest problem with the new maps is they lean to much to one play style, apart from one or two. No longer does tactics, cover, twisting coming in to play, no just form a firing line and fire from across the map.
While I do enjoy the new maps, I think most of the larger ones need to be made smaller, or in the case of New Frozen city, the trench should have a bridge across it. The problem with New HPG is, it is a bowl of which anyone can stand on the rim and take shoots in to said bowl. Now I don't know about any of you, but I don't want to fight in a bowl, while getting shoot at from multi angles. The fact that I don't like playing on maps like New HPG and Station, has ended up with me drifting away from the game it's self, some of you don't care/happy about that and thats nice.
At the end of the day, yes I want the old HPG back, and yes I would like to never see New HPG again, or I would settle for a fixed New HPG. None of the things want will happen tho. Why? Because the player base has become self serving, narcissistic, raging pile of man children dumb asses, apart from a few groups of humanity with common sense.

HAVE A NICE DAY!

Phwoar tell us how you really feel. Let me guess - the few groups of humanity you speak of are joystick turning lurmers that stay at 1km and get angry when a pair of snubs shows up?
