Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

Patch File(s): - http://patcher.mwome...ndPatch_406.zip

  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch.
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

Mild nerf, especially since HSL quirks for SnPPC-boating 'Mechs are unchanged. I expected more. Let's wait to see what effect it will have on the SnPPCs use in the game.

By the way, what about including some detailed info about what the ghost heat is, why it has been integrated into the game, how it works and what weapons and their combinations entails into the game? So the players have all needed info right where they need it, intstead of googling some obscure fan-made web pages.

The problem is not the size of the salvo.

The problem is that in the current game filled with ECM and radar derp it is difficult to get lock in the first place ...

Yawn. And still waste of tonnage in the majority of Quick Play games.

Wow, I'm glad I read this before dropping the cash on that Dervish pack, saved me 70 bucks!

That would have been an expensive lesson to not spend real money on this game.
At least I got to learn it for free.

Lucky you.

I wasted my cash on "Protector" ... about three days before PGI nerfed Gauss Rifles and PPCs/ER PPCs.Posted Image

So what's so special about the DV-6MR (available for CBills) that got missile quirk nerfed?
It's literally 1 variant out of the 6-variant Dervish mech pack.
All other Dervish variants remains unchanged, still gets to keep all their missile quirks (DV-FR, DV-6M, DV-7P, etc.)

I suspect DV-6MR got missile quirks nerfed because of MRM use, as hinted by Missile velocity changed to LRM velocity.

Perhaps some perspective is needed here...

So how exactly does this help/adress against the snub nose/ light mech Terror on the Battlefield? This Patch does nothing against the Dual snub urbies, wolfhounds, firestarters etc. And nothing against mg Terror. IT IS a pain in the *** to Play an Assault These days. Pls do something Guys, I really Like playing MWO but not Like this

Has little to do with light mechs. It buffs mid-range MG builds mainly for lights, mediums, and heavies. That is good IMO.

SNPPC changes should remove the assault/ heavy snubpocalypse. I think the mild heat nerfs are just about enough to make dealing with SNPPC mechs of any class bearable.

LRM changes are good - adds more variety to Vindicator, Wolverine, etc. Other changes should be carefully considered - I personally don't see much issue from ECM and Radar Dep for my LRM builds. AMS bubbles are my main counter.

6 ML/ ERSL + MRMs (usually 2 MRM20).

It is too powerful especially versus speeders, so it got nerfed.

You can run similar builds on DV-6M, just not 6 ML + MRMs. Posted Image

A few issues:
When will we see a counter-balance to the heavy/ assault armor buffs? I get it is to fix the skill tree and brawlers, but I still firmly believe there needs a light and medium buff to counter the unnecessary buff to assaults.

When will we see changes to LGR? It has been discussed in General Discussion recently, and I think it would be nice to shed some light on this topic.

It's not the single Mech, it's the concept.
I looked at dozens of builds on mwo.nav finding ones I liked on each variant, each one playing to the special features of the variant.
If I spend real cash on a Mech or a pack after I find how I want to outfit it based on it's quirks those can be changed on someone else's whim and what I spent money on is no longer viable.

In game currency is different, if I spend that and the mechanics change because someone didn't like 'X' well that's no big deal.

I might try them out later with in game currency but I'm not going to consider spending real money on this game again.

sigh more set of 8 crazy stuff, i think we should remove set of 8...it stifles customization and confuses new players which is something this game needs, new players so we don't need to make it harder for them.

If this was a July patch why aren't the changes here already???

The snub nerf I am actually fine with, I was one of the people who recently indicated that the newer buffs to snubs were good as they were brought out from being pretty close to useless to being good. They have also helped revitalize brawling, which is fine. Any more of a nerf and they'd all get packed up again. I am not finding the whole battlefield being dominated by them, and I'm not real sure how a dual SNPPC urbie is so fearsome, I play urbies lots myself and I have not redone all mine to pack two SNPPC's - we are still talking a bit of a niche weapon here.

The improvements to the Inner Sphere LRM's on a handful of mechs is welcome, and should have always been the case - I recently purchased an Atlas that fired LRMs in a completely wonky manner and almost contacted support to report the mech as broken - having my LRM 20 fire as an LRM12 and then an LRM 5 and then an LRM 3 back to back, was absurd and made my missiles a joke for AMS to shoot down. So good move there.

The nerf to the Dervish comes out of nowhere and is really disappointing - these are pretty uncommon on the battlefield and I don't see this nerf having any real impact on the game overall, other than pissing of a few people, like me, who love our Dervishes as they are, thanks very much.

Speaking of nerfs....completely ignoring the elephant in the room looks terrible on you guys. The one mech out there right now absolutely screaming to be nerfed, as it's pretty much full on pay-to-win is the Cusader Crael. Seriously, these things are brutal and its kind of ridiculous anything else is getting nerfed while it is still running around as-is. Just own up to accidentally making this the angrier, more ridiculous, bigger brother to the Mist Lynx-G and the Viper-F and do something about it already!

The perks to the Commando family are a good idea, particularly the missile ammo increases - light mechs based around missile weapons basically NEED significant ammo perks to not be a joke. Very, very few players will take a light out that relies on missile weapons, knowing they will run out of ammo after doing 300-400 damage under actual combat conditions and then be dead in the water, when they can take a laser build of the same chassis and do twice that much damage and never run out of steam.

The Cougar BA ammo perk, like the missile ammo perk I referred to above, makes the hero Cougar a viable mech now, for the same reasons I pointed out already. So good on you guys - I may have to get one.

The Phoenix KK ammo perk is also appreciated, I have one and like it, but I run it as a laser build as it's not viable as an LBX build right now due to ammo shortages, after the patch I would love to go back and retry my LB10X build.

So a generally positive patch.

DWF-A:
  • Added -10% heat in SO8

As someone who uses the stock DWF-A on a regular basis, I'm confused as to who thought it needed this, and why. Its heat problems were properly dealt with by giving it the HSL quirk for its LPLs. Beyond that, it doesn't really have any other heat issues... I mean, it just means I can button mash the LPL's with no consequence, but it still seems like a waste of someone's time, somewhere, who needed to code this.

And yet more flavor removal, making everything bland, boring, and identical.

What COULD have been done (and probably should have been done), is to do this for the AS7-K ONLY, because that's literally part of the 'mechs writeup. The AS7 LRM launcher is supposed to be a 5-tube mechanism with a fast reload down at the hip where PGI put the SRM, for some reason, and the SRM goes up in the chest. Firing four volleys of 5 missiles in quick succession is literally in the fluff for the Atlas. At the same time, Kuritan engineers, when designing their own variant with the Helm Memory Core, relocated and reconfigured the LRM launcher to fire all 20 missiles at once.

This game needs character, and making changes like the above remove that character.

Besides, wasn't one of the big YouTube streamers (maybe Baradul) pointing out within the last few years that forcing a large launcher to fire in multiple small bursts is a bonus to missile spread?

The Snub nerf doesn't stop 2 snub builds, it stops 3 snub builds. Its a step in the right direction, we'll see if its enough.

But time to throw out my Dervish 6MR, I guess. I have other mechs for LRMs.
