Alright, then their server's clearly are struggling today, either way it's been an on and off thing all day with hits registering but damage just disappearing into the void.... and I've never had issues like this in the past so I don't know what they did, but it's playing like sh*t

Oh well.
The PTS was a copy of the game but required manual set up by PGI, i.e., work and overhead. It wasn't "always on" or anything. Internally, they have the pre-release builds of course, but that's exclusively internal which the Cauldron is not. It is far too much effort to set up when the player base is this small and testing never got them much reliable data on actual player behavior anyway because not enough participated in testing.
I'm sure the reason PGI "tests in production" is because other than the one or two devs working on this game, they don't really have much in the way of QA anymore (if they ever had much QA). Their QA is really just enough to catch the most critical of issues and that's about all the capacity they probably have. I'm sure they don't have 24 play testers to form full teams.

To the general thread:
The nerfing of newly release mechs is really no different than the past 10 years. Often, new mechs did dominate matches and that makes them OP. I don't know why you aren't surprised by your newly purchased mech being nerfed. (Though I do think the design of the Legendary mechs did back them into a corner because they picked some of the best chassis and then gave them good hardpoints, probably to make them very attractive as purchases. Players bought them specifically because they want to dominate the battlefield. There's an obvious reason they're almost all assaults.) Except now the Cauldron is taking some of the flack instead of only PGI. Anyone buying a legendary mech might as well wait until after release and a month if they're concerned about nerfs. It doesn't go away. Or are they worried about FOMO of OP mechs they can dominate with? Maybe that's just it. Players don't actually want a balanced game--they want a game that makes themselves a little more powerful and everyone else a little weaker. Maybe the core problem isn't PGI, but players themselves and their expectations.

Somehow these arbitrary terrible Quirks ( Like Heavy PPC on an Urbie.) is probably some Cauldron Pet Urbie that PGI thought "Yeah, great Idea." Sad... Sad time for MechWarrior...
100% AGREE with the above!
That whole Cauldron thing was one of the worst ideas of all times!

Like everything else in the world that too seems to have disappeared because it was too good to be true and/or to have!

Saw an awful lot of matches with a Scattershot pilot at top of scoreboard doubling the MS of the next one down, things like that.
I have at least 3 SHD variants which simply perform very well and a lot better than many other mechs and those are all C-Bills mechs so what do you expect from a mech that is soo good other than it still being good despite some weird quirks to live up to it's name ?!

Any set that makes use of all 8 Ballistic Hardpoints is automatically worse than the Direwolf.
Any set using RACs/MGs gets ripped to shreds due to the awful ST hitboxes.
AGREE more than I could ever AGREE with you !!!
All in all the Fafnir is just a really bad slow big target mech that's useless without a good team around you and finding that team these days is one heck of a challenge!

This just creates an alternate in the form of HPPC+4xSLs
Seems like a build that depends on a IS XL Engine and that's basically a suicide mech these days!
Can't wait to shoot them off the battlefield !!! LOL !!!

Has ZERO to do with this patch and can be a lot of many other things like :
- Stressed/Overloaded Server hosting the session.
- Your connection to the Server.
- Your ISP having issues and many UDP Packets getting dropped.
(Games use UDP unlike a browser for example which uses TCP and packets can be resent while UDP ones are just forgotten about!)
- Other players having a bad connection that messes the game up for everyone else...
- < Some stuff I have probably forgotten to mention >

My Nova Prime can only use it's Clan ER ML's probably when shooting them 2 at a time so there must be a better mech out there if you want to use a bunch of those at the same time ?!

my dearest russ.
tis been many moons since you convinced me to undertake the "cauldron initiative". i daresay i have my doubts. pugs and tryhards from across the intewebs cry out that the high alpha range meta is unfun. clearly there has been a recent uptick in unrest amongst the common folk. the cauldron has been instructed to fix this problem, but comp season is coming, and they fear nerfing the blue light beams will destroy their chance at the title of best robot autist of the year. yellow light beams have been sacrificed so that we may maintain our monastary of incel comp pilots. their devotion to being the best in a game with no tangible rewards is admirable, to accomplish this, however, we had to make blood sacrifice of the scattershot, a slightly above average glass cannon, to the pug masses. gods, i can still hear the screams. they will haunt me forever, yet i persevere, in the knowledge that your wisdom and bottomless coke stash can fil me several times over.
i wish you luck in your travels my beloved russ. your journey to conquer the lands of pve-dom are legend amongst your people. we pray that you will return to us with a bounty of funding, and new mech dads for us to drain of currency.
signed, with love, your
daeron.
ps, your old nemesis approaches from the south my lord. return to us soon, or you may have nowhere left to return too.
pps. were running out of mech ideas. mayhaps your goals of 2 mechs per month is a bit much?

Thank god someone else said it because yeah I am tired of the pig-squeals after seeing what Moonwalker and Scattershot were doing. They'll still be plenty good after because they know what you're actually buying. I grin and bear it because the money might lead to things I would like to see getting implemented (MIGHT). Some of you are good enough pilots that you don't need and never needed crutches.
Seeing people with decent to good stats crying bloody murder over their OP chasses getting adjusted is like watching a fat kid who just devoured half an apple pie scream and throw things at the other kids when he's asked to leave some for everyone else. It's no longer about the enjoyment of the thing, it's about taking as much as you can even and especially if it ruins someone else's day. For a genuinely talented player, running an OP chassis should be an EMBARRASSMENT in the QP environment.

If those chassis are still good after nerfing, then why not issue the refunds and trust that people will repurchase them?

Go float it with a CSR. I don't think there's any reasonable expectation of refund. I don't think there should be in this situation. I am also not an employee, just a person who knows typical spoiled-brat consumer ******** when he sees it and is beyond tired of the behavior.

This isn't your car. This is a video game. A video game that has a vested interest in ensuring play is as fair as can be managed.
Your "car" will still have significantly more "horsepower" than most others out there, and if it is found wanting for whatever reason it will get tuned up accordingly.
