Lower tiers its the too many lasers 8 times out of 10. I reckon giving up the 14 slots is the biggest downside, especially with them being spread across every section of the mech, really narrows what you can run on them. When it comes to v.s. ECM, with the current sensor set-up I've found Stealth an entirely different game, Clan ECM is partiularly underwhelming.

I get they were trying to resolve the overpowered issue, except they never really did because the heat damage is still 4.5, but now the weapon just sucks to use in almost every case.
9. So few designs can even properly mount flamers and actually get a benefit, most times its better to just add small lasers.
Conclusion: No weapon has been nerfed more than the flamer, and it was all unnecessary, all they had to do was lessen the heat damage, but no, instead they made a sucky weapon with terrible stats, and players like me have to deal with how awful it actually is, the higher players who don't want it fixed don't actually use the weapon hardly at all, so how can they understand just how awful it is to use? Give the flamer the changes it should have had all the way back then, as they don't even work like the lore anyway.

i honestly see no one using flamers when x pulse was first introduced i started using a single flamer on some mechs to overheat the x pulse boats.

You are wrong.

You can be successful in MechWarrior Online without running so-called meta 'Mechs. Even in .

Check this screenshot. I deployed in my favorite Centurion. I had the highest number of kills and achieved the highest Match Score:

Even when my 'Mech's armour failed in the end, I had fun and we won the game.

My vintage Centurion is anything but meta.


As you can see:

• You do not have to use meta 'Mechs
  
• You do not even have to use Assault-class 'Mechs
  
• You do not even have to use ClanTech

You can be successful in the game, even if you are piloting a lowly non-meta medium-weight IS BattleMech.

If a quick Mechlab check - or a common sense - tells you that a Stealth armor 'Mech is going to have a significantly worse firepower, DPS, etc. in comparison with a 'Mech that is equipped just with a standard ECM suite ... well, miracles do not happen. It's because he knows how Tier 1 plays, since he's the Voice of the People; but no Tier 1 can "have a clue, mate" about his terrible struggles because we're all a bunch of out-of-touch tryhards who only play meta mechs, and we're always at our jobs, and we just don't know have fun any more!

This is literally like arguing with an angry teenager. He knows everything, and the grownups just don't understand what life is really like for him.

What's the selling point here? That this mech uses a name belonging to another and we pretend that it is THAT mech? Or is it the fact that it's a LFE omni with speed boost and lacks the punch of its clan counterpart? How many 2 HLL Mad Dogs do you see? Do you honestly think that the Gauntlet has any value in MWO?

Imagine being so salty and depressed to crap all over an IS omni being introduced into a game this old.

I am definitely interested in not just this mech, but that we're getting another IS omni, and one without XL. It means progress, and it means things like the Avatar and Sunder are possible.

I am willing to put cash on the line to support progress in a game I enjoy.

This is exactly what I'm saying. The game has been stagnant for years and it needs some new content pumped in. People would whine and complain even if we got the Avatar, Blackjack Omni and Firestarter Omni.

As for the Gauntlet their are two variants I find to be worth it. The GTL-1O, is going to be a very fast runner with the Supercharger and MASC Combo, and the GTL-1OB is an ECM Jumper with MASC and serves as an answer to the Clan's Black Lanner. If you mix the Prime with the B, then you get a jack-of-all trades with this mech. An ECM MASC, Jumper with a Supercharger. Sure I would have loved to see a Men Shen, but given PGI's limited resources, I'd rather have something than nothing.

i dont buy everything they sell. frankly its more permutations of features were already bored with. i had my is omni fix with the blackhawk. but many will buy it.

From an art perspective I can see where you are coming from, as it should look different from a Bushwhacker. It would be nice if there was some way to differentiate the mech like adding little doo-dads and stuff, like the Grand Summoner and Black Hawk KU. But given the limited resources at PGI, who knows if they can do something like that again? Still I wouldn't mind spending money on IS Omnis regardless of looks.

First, I like the idea, I am not questioning introduction of IS Omnis, I question the execution.
Second, the avatar and the sunder? I would have loved that instead of the gauntlet.

Reusing the existing assets is unavoidable, because PGI laid off the majority of MWO staff in December 2024.

All-new 'Mechs are going to be months and months between, and that only as a by-product of the MechWarrior 5: Clans game development.

but yeah overall I'm happy that the devs are still adding content to the game, it makes think the whole "game is dead" might keep going on for another decade.

Yes, I would be happier if they added some minor detailes to differentiate the Gauntlet from the Bushwacker, just like they did when they used the Black Hawk model with some addons to create the Black Hawk-KU.

Well, it did not happen. The cost reasons, probably.

The second reason is probably related to the requirement to ensure that model textures and factional liveries of the Bushwacker will fit on the Gauntlet.

The in-universe difference between the Bushwacker and the Gauntlet is more like the difference between M60 and M60A2, if not greater.

No, because I don't care and I'm not purchasing it so I don't really care, eveything after your first sentence here is a YOU problem....

At least this omni has an LFE and not a IS XL like the Blackhawk KU.
