Mason, the Piranha is a Clan Mech, developed by Diamond Shark shortly before Tukayyid(TRO 3058). I built the David right after we got the TRO 3050. Little 30 tonner, big engine, lots of jump jets, and 12 MGuns with 2 tons of ammo and a Guardian package..fast as hell, jump in behind the target, unload, and jump back out. Had all of 3.5 tons of FF armor, so getting hit was NOT an option. Used it quite successfully for a while, until I jumped in behind a Warhammer :P

MW2, I built Mother..Dire Wolf with 8 ERPPCs, just enough DHS to keep the heat below shutdown firing 2 at once. Full alpha..the Mech blew up, no warning, no shutdown, it just blew up. Had some fun with that thing, as long as I chain fired REAL slow ;)

I didn't know such a thing existed! I will have to share this with Rob and look up it's details myself. We were using only tech available in 3049 so dunno if this was even available to him. Thanks!

it is a clan machine to be fair...

good ole cland diamond shark

Its so fun to take this mech to a point based tournament and just overwhelm the person who maxed out their points on a daishi or the like.

We used to have a config in MW4 called the NVOD (envod), Naked Victor of Doom. We would strip all the armor off it, EVERY SCRAP OF ARMOR, and load it up with JJs and as many hard-hitting direct-fire range weapons as we possibly could ... we used it to train our guys how to lateral JJ snipe - cuz if you got hit at all, it was all over.

MW3 was the place for this kind of madness. Especially if you turned on Infinite Ammo (just for the heck of it in Instant Action). It was fun loading up and Annihilator and just becoming a cloud of missiles... especially if you left heat on as well. >.< But yeah, quite a few mad designs. Long Toms, T-bolts, even a Mad Cat mk. II early on where I specifically had a NARC so that my three lancemates in LRM-boat Catapults would just be another weapon.

We did something similar to this back in the NetMech days, glory.

Called 'Funboy' mode, it involved stripping every piece of armour off of a heavy 'Mech, loading in two gauss rifles, jump jets, and playing with unlimited ammo.

Can't recall the name of the map we played most often, but it was the canyon type with the multitude of bridges.

Lots of fun. Lots of airborne-to-airborne BVR kills. Lots of laughs.

Wasnt this the point of MW3? Pick any one weapon and see how many of them you can throw on? Flamers, Mguns, AC's, SM lasers, M lasers, PPC's, streak SRM.... just pick one and throw as many as you can in every orifice.

Yes exactly lol. I always enjoyed 14 flammers on a strider and insta death to any mech that was hit with them. Or, 16 flammers on a strider with a MASC on ice maps. God those were great times.

Are we talking about the video games or the tabletop?

Because the tabletop creates more funnies when you make intentionally silly designs.

Like a 70 ton Clan mech loaded with 10 Streak SRM-4s. You want isorla? Okay, just hit the head 6 times. Not very hard when you can potentially fire 40 individual missiles every turn.

Video games? Like some others have said, unlimited ammo allows for the best things. I don't remember, did MW3 require at least one ton of ammo for a weapon to work, or can you mount the weapon by itself when unlimited ammo is turned on?

Spider.... 25 Light machine guns... No armor... all engine... :P

Or a Fireball with no armor, 15 Flamers and all engine... that was a suicide mech >;)

CBT:
Running Gag.
Medium mech, i think i actually got him up to 18/27 Movement.
Ran straight through an Atlas with that one.
Yes, through. Ran him through. With a Mech. Completely.
Light Mech through Center-Torso of Atlas.
Into the front. Out of the Back. Taking every single point of Internals with him.
Because the Ramming Rules are crazy like that.
Weight of Rammer divided by 5 multiplied by the hexes i think.
So 40t. Makes 7 Points. Times 27 at full tilt. 189 Points of Damage.
No, an Atlas does NOT have enough Points in the CT to withstand that.
Rolls looked like this or so:
Buddy: Need a 12 to hit on your charge.
Me: *rolls* unbelieveable isn't it?
Buddy: OK, so let us see, where do you hit him?
Me: *rolls*
Me: CT, dead on.
Buddy: OK so that's how much damage?
Me: Let's see, maximum range.
Me: 27 Hexes.
Me: Own weight is 40t.
Me: So damage is 7.
Me: Times moved hexes.
Buddy: That's . . a lot.
Me: Hand me the calculator, i suck at math.
Buddy: Wait. 189 Points of Damage?
Buddy: Can this be correct?
Cue 20 minutes of shuffling books looking for ways out of this.
Buddy: Nope, all perfectly legal.
Me: So. 189 Points of Damage eh?
Buddy: Yep.
Me: To a single location too eh?
Buddy: Yep.
Me: The CT in this case too eh?
Buddy: Yep.
Me: The Atlas does not have that many points in the CT.
Buddy: Not even with full armor.
Me: OK, so the CT has been completely destroyed.
Buddy: Basically, all that's left are the two standing legs, the 2 hanging in the air arms.
Buddy: And the Head above hanging in the Air.
Budy: Yep. Looks like it.
Buddy: And your Mech took how much Damage doing this?
Me: Oh, that's the beauty of it. All of 7 Points. My usual close combat damage to myself.
Me: In groups of 5.
Me: So yes, i got some dents here and there, but otherwise, i am perfectly fine.
Me: I will just have to wash the coolant and the reactor stuff of my mech later on.
Buddy: i hate you sometimes
Me: i love it when a plan comes together!

I have been banned from doing silly things that nobody, not even myself, thinks are going to work anymore . .
If i had gotten the Mech to be a bit heavier or a bit faster, or maybe even both, i could have run through a dropship with that.

MW2 I made training drones. The shooter was a Firemoth with pretty much nothing but 4 MGs and a little extra ammo. The targets were also Firemoths. No weapons, no armor, Just a giant engine and some jump jets. Talk about marksmanship training.

MW3 I made a pure PPC boat Annihilator. I alpha striked and blew up. Have to admit that was the first time I'd seen that. MW4 I have an Annihilator with 4 Clan LBX AC20's. Shredded everything within 350 meters to death.

In no way is it possible to create a 40-ton mech that moves at that speed. It could almost match the running speed using an XXL engine, a supercharger AND MASC. Cruising speed maxes out at 12 hexes for a 40 ton machine, and that's with the Large Engine rules that makes the 480 XXL reactor weigh 92 tons.

I don't know what you made, but that was outright cheating or bad memory.

EDIT: I also happened to miss the part about dealing and taking 7 points of damage, and single grouping of damage. Was this supposed to be a complete joke story or what? I've been had!

In Mw4 pirates moon I used to run a Clint IIC with nothing but a huge engine and as many flamers as it would fit. It'd crisp elementals in seconds and drive any mech slower than itself nuts. Just get in the rear arc and keep the flamers on to keep the other guy in shutdown. I think it took like ten minutes to blow anybody up from the damage and it was an evens odds bet that I'd blow up first from all the heat lol.

I also had an Annihilator I called the Xmas Tree. It had as many different color model pulse lasers as was possible spread out all over the chassis including the legs lol.

I've done the old "load it up with as many of a single weapon type as possible" many times in all the MW games. Definitely tried the Nova Cat with max Flamers in MW4.... that was a horrible idea. :P My fav was probably a Stone Rhino variant I had in MW2:GBL with something like 4 LRM20s, 4 SSRM6s and 4 Inferno SSRM2s.. It was utterly ridiculous.

Also had "training dummies" with min armor/max engine and one big gun, usually a PPC. Fun times.

My two favourites from MW4 were;

Dire Wolf with 12 ssrm4's and 2 clbx20's. With proper timing on your fire rate it was a guarranteed knock down on any other mech at close range. Nothing like knocking another Dire Wolf off it's feet, turning with the quick reload and knocking down the Atlas coming around the corner.

My second favourite was my 3 cerlarge laser, light gauss cougar. It of course had no armour, but nobody would expect that much direct fire from one of the smallest mechs available at the time. Lol

The silliest mech I ever used was a Longbow with 4 Arrow thrunderbolts with BAP. The thing was slow as hell and had armor made out of wet toilet paper but the lol factor was unbeatable as it was able to knock down ANY mech almost 100% of the time. I had some guy in a Gladiator rage at me for nearly one shotting him and knocking his mech down despite the fact he had an Advance Gyro system on there which only made me laugh harder. I called it Timber because thats what I said every time I knocked an enemy mech down while pileting that thing.

One silly map we used to play was all marsh land and gulleys. I built a Kodiak with nothing but machine guns and small lasers. Full armor and speed. It was ferocious up close and personal. Had jumpjets and I think one rack of clan srm's. I could chew through a Dire Wolfs armor right smartly.

My favorite is a Banshee variant I call the Crazed Ax-wielding Maniac.
Take the BNC-3E, strip the autocannon and 6 heatsinks, and add 4 jumpjets and a hatchet.

Also, I took a Nova and fitted as many machine guns as I could jam in there. I think it was up to 24 of them and about 4 tons of ammo.

I remember stripping down a Jenner in the days of MechWarrior 3 to equip it solely with machne guns, thinking that I could utilise its speed more in battle but forgot to keep enough space for ammunition (for the most part, I rely exclusively on energy-based weapons, so I never had to bother much with ballistic reloads) so by the time I dropped onto the field, I only had one working machine gun and spent 15 minutes dodging lasers and missles until I just could not bear my own stupidity any more and dove head first into the enemy ranks as cannon fodder to buy my team mates an extra few seconds of time to coordinate their own defensive line.
Needless to say, a Jenner does not get very far when you plow headlong into a Star of enemy Assaults, all launching LRMs, large lasers and even gauss slugs... that was definitely overkill!

(we got slaughtered by the end!)

I mentioned this earlier in another post, but another silly fit I had was mounting a Continus Beal Laser to a Flea and pretty much poke them in the perverbial eye and be just all out annoying as ****. I managed to kill a Behemoth all by my lone-some while in that Flea. I was so proud of my self for that.

I always wanted to take an Atlas and replace everything with machine guns. only 2 tons of ammo would fuel that bad boy.
