Hmm, most of the ones I remember were from Mech 4 mercs:

I recall loading a Clan Heavy with as many ER Small Lasers as it could hold. Remaining tonnage went to jets, ecm, engine, and armour in that order. Damage output wasn't the greatest, due to size limitations, but it was mobile, could take a beating, and outmove most mechs in it's class.

One of my favourite configs was I think a light mech. I can't remember which one, just that I loaded an LBX20 as well as a Flamer or a laser, depending on the map. Ran around shooting folks at close rage when they weren't looking. I made effective use of that extra ton of ammo. Good times.

Another was a Hellbringer (Loki) with a PPC, an LBX10 an SRM, and a flamer. Maybe a laser, too. Really good for stagger-shooting

There was also this dangerous design that I mostly found too slow: Annihilator with 6 RAC/2's. That's right, six. Group them all together and fire in short bursts--and bring lots of ammo. RACZilla, that one was called. Ate away armour quick and staggered your target with every burst. Hugely effective in open terrain. There were a few people who were really good with that design.

In Mech2 it was all missiles and machine guns, although I made a pretty decent go of things with a Hellbringer mounting three PPC's.

My silliest mech outdid the Pirahna. It was basically an Axeman with a Hatchet and 14 machine guns. Not exactly a long range unit but up close could certainly knock you mech onto it's butt. Also still did't run out of ammo by Battletech's rules very often even with only a ton of ammo oddly...

CBT:
Running Gag.
Medium mech, i think i actually got him up to 18/27 Movement.
Ran straight through an Atlas with that one.
Yes, through. Ran him through. With a Mech. Completely.
Light Mech through Center-Torso of Atlas.
Into the front. Out of the Back. Taking every single point of Internals with him.
Because the Ramming Rules are crazy like that.

Unless they've changed the rules recently, it's supposed to be damage in 5 point locations, not all in one location, seems like the chaging rules were misunderstood. Max base speed for a 40 ton mech is 10/15 using a 400xl engine...MASC could get you up to 20 for 80 max damage if you got a straight run through no cover at the atlas...Damage is tonnage divided by 10 x hexes moved.
So basically this is a half tonned, double speeded Charger...That probably costs more than the standard charger (Pre XL engine)

Annihilator with two engine upgrades, two UAC/2 and 10 Clan MG Arrays. Still not enough dakka, but it's hard to get closer to it in MW4.

In no way is it possible to create a 40-ton mech that moves at that speed. It could almost match the running speed using an XXL engine, a supercharger AND MASC. Cruising speed maxes out at 12 hexes for a 40 ton machine, and that's with the Large Engine rules that makes the 480 XXL reactor weigh 92 tons.

I don't know what you made, but that was outright cheating or bad memory.

EDIT: I also happened to miss the part about dealing and taking 7 points of damage, and single grouping of damage. Was this supposed to be a complete joke story or what? I've been had!
Probably faulty Memory, but it was somewhere along those lines . .

This thread has inspired me. TO THE MECHLAB, AWAY!

EDIT: Assassin II with 4 Heavy Machine Guns (with 2 extra tons of ammo for each), 11.50 tons of Reactive armor, and a top speed of 99 km/h. I am pleased. (MW4: Mercs, by the way. :3)

EDITEDIT: Placed second with it in the Jungle HEAVY. **** YOU FENG CHANG!

Daishi with either 3 clan LBX ac20s or 3 clan Guass rifles

I managed to cram 6 RAC5 on a Fafnir (not sure how much ammo I had though)

Both on mechwarrior 4 mercs in fact the daishis became my standard loadout.

In fact I might have managed 7 RAC2 on Fafnir but not sure!

In MW4:Mercs I took an Annihilator, removed half the armor, and put 4 Clan U-AC-20's on it, most vulnerable thing I have ever piloted, but it could instantly kill any heavy, maybe an assault if you hit the cockpit. In MW2:Mercs I actually managed to fit 14 CERPPC on a Dire Wolf and fire an alpha-strike without blowing up... instantly...

In MW2 Mercs - the most awesome build was throwing on the maximum number of machine guns and ramping the engine. Once you get close enough that thing could tear through assault mechs like goat cheese. Those builds never seemed to work in MW4

In MW4 though, I'd take either a Black Knight with 4 PPC's or a Sunder with 4 PPC's and an MRM 30 - usually with a downgraded engine, max armor, and heat sinks up the wazoo.

MW4 I had a Cauldron Born that had 8 Clan UAC 2's and 1 ER Large laser. Don't think it had much armor or speed, but it was fun as hell to knock people around with it whether alpha firing or cycling for non-stop streams. Had a blast in that mech.

I love the mechlab. I'm willing to bet that many of us spent almost as much time in the lab as we spent in the field.

I'm itching to hit the mechlab just talking about it.

Also, in a moment of rage at Fen Chang in MW4: Mercs, I recreated his Vulture with the two Arrow Launchers. Naturally, he was my first target.

Ive done a Flamer mech on something in MW4 to see how much heat I could put on an enemy....didnt work quite as well as i had hoped...

it worked when I did it, can't remember what mech it was but I had like 7 flamers on it, it was pretty funny

Are we talking about wiht heat on or off lol, and My favorite by far was my Hollander so fun to just in to assualt mechs unload a lbx-20 if you were a good enough shot you could run and hit a Dire Wolf with it and run out due to knock effect from it.

Phantom in Ghost Bear's Legacy completely maxed out with flamers. I had a particularly buggy version I guess because an alpha strike would generate too much heat for the game to even read, so beyond the heat bar completely flipping out nothing else happened.

In Mechwarrior 3 I would always leave one arm without any weapons or armor, and I would attempt to lead with it. Probably not a great strategy

All small lasers. Jump jet in, "FREEYOW". One of them usually hit the head. Force a piloting roll. Oh my the fell. Time to kick them in the junk!
