They were just upset about getting legged. Can't say as I blame them. Such things are upsetting. :D

And no I did not use it again. I was just trying to prove a point, and I did just that.

No need to beleaguer the issue. I do still have the Mech sheet around somewhere in a box.

The YRM-0M

Its entire loadout was created to entertain a set of puns.

I have a tendency to take things that other people say are useless, pointless, or stupid and try to figure out how to make them reconsider their point of view. :D There are several instances I can recall at the MTG table, but this is not a thread about that. ;) Anyway, I was sitting at our local area gaming place, and some people were talking about Battletech. One of them mentioned that the Machine Gun was a stupid weapon, and that nobody would ever use one because it was worthless against a Mech. He went on to say that any design from the TRO's that had MG's on it, people just took them off and replaced them with SL, or HS, or Armor...etc. I thought about this for awhile and realized he was right. That was exactly what most people did.

When I got home I decided to construct a Mech based entirely on Machine Guns. I went with a Clan tech medium Mech with MASC a Targetting computer max armor and as many MG's as I could fit into it. I dubbed it the Gattlin', and I took to the next FFA Battletech game at the shop, where I ran from one Mech to the next using MASC to raise my target number to be hit and opened up with all the MG's targetting a leg. (I know. Not very Clan like. But I was trying to prove a point about Machine Guns. :P ) After several amputations The game was called and I was asked to not put that Mech on the board again. Apparently I had upset some people, but I believe a made a case for MG's not being stupid and useless against a Mech.

TCs don't apply to machine guns.

You could instead fit 16-17 small clan lasers WITH a TC and neutral heat, and leave a 40xMG design for dead.

Hmmmm... if I remember correctly i put the biggest engine I could into a Fire Moth w/ like 1 ton of armor and 2 small lasers and added MASC. Called it Zoom ++. I think the top speed on it was almost 300kph. Did that in MW3.

Kamikaze Flamer with no heat sinks and a suicidal alpha strike (MW3). This was the most retarded I put together.

I once experimented with a custom Centurion variant in MW4:M, just for fun.
It equipped a Light Gauss and some Artillery Beacons, less armor than its primary variant, and a more powerful engine, too - it was basically a very lightly armored Medium 'Mech buil to just wear down enemies at range with its Rifle, occasionally even legging, using the Beacons against heavier 'Mechs if there was enough cover for me to approach them.

I liked to think of it as a little soldier.

I had occasionally had fun in a longbow with 2 inferno heavy rocket launchers(2-3 tons ammo each) and 3 artillery beacons (max ammo). The IHL's could fire fast enough to drive a mech into shutdown in a few seconds, then you could drop a triple arty beacon on its head while it was stationary. The only issue was watching your own heat.

My favorite was in MW3 I striped a shadow cat, put the biggest engine I could in it with a MASC, a heat sink, and a small laser. I never killed anything but I think it topped out at around 246 kph. Lol

I had a... was it a Uziel? Yeah, a Uziel with an engine upgraded twice, two Arty Beacons, and as much ammo as possible.

I'd run into a mech, hit them with the flares, wait for 4 seconds, and GTFO ASAP.

After that, just watch them get hit. Repeat for more effect. (MW4)

A Supernova with 8 continous laser beam in MW4. Work only for 2/3 seconds before has to shutdown without making any real damage.

MW4:M, I filled out a Kodiak with SRM6s and SRM4s, maxed out their ammo, then my armor, put the rest of my tonnage in engine. Because the Inner Sphere SRMs deliver heat to your target, it would shut-down Assault Mechs before they could really hurt you or move out of your line of fire. I just pointed my mech and held the trigger until they shutdown, and kept firingg until they died with no worrying about my own heat.

On the other hand, I loaded a Supernova with 8 Clan flamers, and it was worthless. It took more than 7 alpha strikes to shut down a Diashi, and then I had no weapons to kill it.

I built one of those alpha strike machine gun light mechs before. After having a medium mech hosed by one of them. Lol. They are great until they get hit.

My friend made a random mech generator program back in the day.
It just picked a weight, engine, armor factor and randomly put a combo of weapons in it.
When you get bored, it was pretty fun to master a crazy random mech!

I took a Warhammer, stripped everything out, put as many medium lasers on it as a could and just enough heatsinks to stay in the yellow if i alpha striked. I think that config let me add 3 to 5 tons of armor as well. You did NOT want to see this thing come around the corner in urban combat. It was a very bad day for you.

has anyone mentioned all flamethrowers yet?

If not,

I loaded up a Puma with like, all flamethrowers once and gave it the most powerful engine I could. Then I'd get in close underneath a 'mech and run around overheating them to death. It was great.

Take a 45t Mech with 6/9/10 movement and 12 ER Micro Laser (CL) + 7 ER Small Laser (CL)
