Wow, that's a lot of replies!

Only suggestion I'd make is to take the outermost plane of the thigh/hip armor and extend it up to cover the joint while leaving the front lower for movement. Give it a look a little like the outer hip-plate of the MWO Centurion, maybe.

I thought about that, and tried a few design ideas. But I couldn't really get anything to work. It just didn't look right to me for some reason. While I'm trying to work in a viable mechanical and practicaspect to my design, there's also the aesthetic to consider.

Amazing work. Keep it up, although in my opinion you should remove the light entirely. Puts some distance from the Tomahawk.

I could go either way. More recent version of the Whammy also place the spotlight on the shoulder. I also got an idea to sink the SRM down into the torso itself instead of being perched on top. I might try that later on and see how it looks.

I think Bishop and shortpainter have that covered.

For the lower section? Yeah a few people thought so as well! LOL

OK, small update. Lengthened the upper leg, added some surface details, and filled in the back, as well as started in the knee. Now I'm plotting out how I want to do the lower leg. I left the old parts in place as a comparison.

Could the PGI use your drawings for the unseen, Bishop?

Please don´t :) A WHM needs that SRM pack riding the shoulder.. else it´sno Warhammer.

Instead of totally sinking it, mebbe do it more "integrated, kinda like how the rackon a mauler looks.

kinda like this (only better since all I really did was butcher yyour had work)

Yes, it's another Whammy thread. But this one is slightly different! Honest! This will be my third model rebuild (4th if you count my Locust). I've already rebuilt a Black Knight and the reseen Phoenix Hawk. Updating old models with fresh skills and experience.

Or something like that.

First, a little back story. About 10 years ago in my noobish lack of 3D modeling skills, I tried to make a Whammy. Then a few years later for IS3028 project, I tried to make a Reseen version.

Both were dreck.

Spoiler

I hide them behind spoiler tags out of shame.

So, I'm starting over. In fact I'm going to try to combine the looks of BOTH the Macross Destroid and the Phoenix Warhammer. First I start with the torso shape.

Posted Image

And now I've made a strange looking face.

Posted Image

Heh heh, now that you've seen it, you can't un-see it.

More later...

All i got to say is that the whammy on the right looks just like the one on my desk

It'll look right when I'm done.

Ha! That's pretty awesome. Wait a bit longer and I'll post clear background PNGs of the completed model.

Right, it took me quite a while to block out the shape of the lower leg. At least it wasn't such a stopping point as the upper half. I tried a few different designs, but most of all I wanted to avoid a direct build of either the Tomahawk or the Warhammer. So I did what I could to blend them (and even threw in a little WHM IIc).

First is the basic shapes after I rounded the edges.
Posted Image
Posted Image

And then refining the shape and adding surface details. Though it looks like Vacu-Suck 3000!
Posted Image
Posted Image

Then added them to the rest of the body. A bit of adjustments to properly match the scale and a half hour render later.
Posted Image

All that's left now are the feet!

Really neat idea, and it looks absolutely fantastic. Even better looking than the macross version (REALLY like the cockpit on this - not a huge shift but a very attractive one) and MILES better than the project phoenix warhammer.

Awesomeness, HY. It might be a little wide spread across the arms, but IDK. It looks killer regardless.
