I know it sounds like a retarded question since its called Mechwarrior 'Online', but does this game have single player storyline? I mean it's such a waste to see a Mechwarrior game returning after all this time but without a storyline....Dat potential!! Uuhh

If you're asking for a single player campaign, no, there is nothing like that. But overall the game follows the story of the Inner Sphere from 3049 'til infinity.

You are right, this is the current weakness of the game, a "deeper meaning" additionally to buy more and more phat mechs, equip them and earn c-bills with them for more and more mechs with more and more equipment. They really should work on strategic campaigns and give the players a feeling to become part of major crusades for dominance.

And reward pro-gamers who already own 2412 Atlasses with Super-Lostech-PPCs and quatro heat sinks and have 786 Trillion c-bills on their Solaris bank account.

They said there will be no PvE by release they didn't say never. It's one of the topics they still have under wraps. I'm betting they will put in PvE content vs the Clan Invasion, given the selected timeline. Don't be surprised if we end up with Co Op modes to defend bases against the attacking Clan Wolf or something.

I agree, this feels more like multiplayer for COD rather than an MMO. There is no crafting or resource gathering, no salvaging, no campaign... I feel this is the downfall of being a F2P game.

I've played MW3 (NO, NOT MODERN WARFARE 3...) and it made me love the Mech Warrior series. I was pissed when i found out it didnt run on my new computer. I have cash now, so I can buy premium of this. About your question, yes there is actually quite a bit of storyline. It's gone through all the previous games, MW1 2 3 and 4. (Those are only ones I know of)

Well, you can't make a full world you'd like if you don't have around (bare minimum) $75 millions. :D

MWO was never suppose to be an MMO. No idea how did you came out with this.
Not all games with persistent world are MMOs. Yes, people are clueless these days and ignorant about genes, but MMO isn't be-all-end-all of the computer gaming. I by far more prefer normal multiplayer games like MWO then MMO BS.

Thanks for the info.....im just so sad, to see all them cool graphics go to waste. I mean the previous mechwarrior games had a super huge and simple map and not so complicated and open space, easy for me to lock on and fire my missles like artillery barrages......
I feel like i have no grip on the game, like nothing is worth fighting for in this game if i don't feel important. well thats just my opinion....

MPBT3025 had no single player, and it was fine (as long as it lasted).

We fight each other while time progresses, and things happen in the BT universe in the same time scale. I think it will be very interesting, the news flashes are testament to that. Will we be force fed story through movies and quick-time events? No, but that's great.

You misunderstood something, you and all other players play the "story of the inner sphere" when they add the community-warfare with fighting for planets and control like it is intended.

The game is in the closed beta, after the engine is running stable you can ask that again, at that point maybe someone is working on something :D

Wow really? You think having a flat field wher we all stand there firing LRMs at each other for 5 minutes makes for a fun game? Remember, this is a multiplayer game, that means it has to actually be fun to play wit/against others. There is a world of difference between what makes a fun single player and a fun multiplayer game.

This is a Skill game not a Story Game.

The Fun is in competing with other real players not in fighting dumb, brainless, CPU-Controlled Enemys and watch a Movie after that.

There is going to be plenty of story- we get to experience the progression of time and events as the months/years tick by.... and we also get to make our own story. People will remember the time merc corp x invaded merc corp ys territory and took on an alliance of 5 corps solo, and the time one little rookie corp held of one of the top corps for an entire week, and etc. Remember that there is apparently going to be capturable planets for us to all fight over.

Battletech has story to fill the next 15 years. But every player can choose his House, so you are not able to focus the storyline on a point.
So you have to tell the story of the whole Inner Sphere. It is already told in the IS-News on the page. And once they implement the map. We will have community warfare with a action-packed storyline!
