The Fun is in competing with other real players not in fighting dumb, brainless, CPU-Controlled Enemys and watch a Movie after that.
the ever recurring opinion, why do people insist on downplaying a Campaign/Story, and force their beliefs about what is fun or not.
this game has great graphics and would have had a singleplayer component if not for the fact that no investors had the balls to jump onboard.
right now the only revenues are founders/preorders.
i'm hoping for good Mechwarrior Credit revenues so we could possibly get a fully fledged Mechwarrior game with BOTH components in the future.

Not all games with persistent world are MMOs. Yes, people are clueless these days and ignorant about genes, but MMO isn't be-all-end-all of the computer gaming. I by far more prefer normal multiplayer games like MWO then MMO BS.
Hate to burst your bubble but this is certainly a MMO. It could also be argued that it is an MMORPG since there is a character advancement aspect.

I personally would love that, then they could release all the potentional the game and CE3 has..

BTW Russ, Bryan, etc.. count me in for $30 a single player mission.. Give me a mission a month and times me by how many other MWO Crazies you have here and I think you get the Idea..

I feel like i have no grip on the game, like nothing is worth fighting for in this game if i don't feel important. well thats just my opinion....
See that Fist logo next your name, and the Shield next to mine?
The story you seek revolves around those factions and has not been put into the game yet. While it won't contain the single player campaign you seek, it will provide territory to fight over, enemy factions to fight (in game, not just guilds), and plenty of time on the battlefield enjoying sweet sweet graphics.
No, there isn't an open world where we can wander around aimlessly and enjoy the scenery - and to be fair, I do enjoy that aspect of games that include it - but there is decades of backstory that sets up the intergalactic struggle of the world of Battletech.

That alone makes me want to play, some really well thought out characters.. Makes me want to create one and purchase a founders edition.

plus, if you consider the planet battles and conquers, that IS persistent worldS... so its not just a Multiplayer Game. it's an MMO.
a PvE-less MMO. a PvE-less GuildWars or Tera.
like Battlefield3 with persistent worlds...
anyway, thats just how i look at it. im always big on storyline with MMO as it makes me immersed in the game. but for MWO, there IS a lore... there IS a storyline.... WE are writing it. it just doesn't have PvE, that's all.
so yes, i would argue this game is an MMO in that respect. and i like it.

15? More like 36, actually, in detail. The next 94 years, if being a little more vague. (If they stick to one day RL=one day in-universe)
I know... but in 15 years the IS goes downhill and it would be a complete different game... and i bet they will speed up the time...
You really think it will take 3 real life years to get the Bushwacker? Or 8 for the Owens? Or 17 years for the Uziel?

MMORPG is Massive Multiplayer Online ROLEPLAYING Game. MWO is NOT an MMORPG (though some people still enjoy some roleplaying elements) as a RPG has character development, leveling, and is generally more advancement based than skill based. In traditional Pen and Paper RPGs, the person running the game (GM) had a general plan but could essentially let the players create the story based on their decisions. Computer game developers have struggled to achieve this same flexibility to allow players to actually direct the story of a game, with some limited success in recent releases, with most only achieving choose your own adventure storyline paths.
We want to BE the story, not have it told to us.

I am hoping I am not forced to join one of the darned 5 Houses. I'll go for the underdog (Mercenary force if possible), or if they implement 'Mech choice by faction, to whoever has the 'Mechs I enjoy using.
