Your image doesn't seem to be loading for me. I too cleaned it up in the hopes that it will speed up some new repaints.
this was WAY back there but i can't find a vindicator template,
i DID find others i was looking for like the grasshopper, and the zeus and a few others and i know that the king crab is a WIP but i don't know IF anyone made a vindicator or not so i linked the art that is cut out already from page 287.
if someone DID make a vindiactor template please let me know

Black and white require details in light and shadows (more contrast and reflections) to look good.
It's a difference if you want reflective and plastic looking surface like on the Arrow, or if you want matte and rough surface.
Similar to how leather, wool, silk and other fabrics look distinctly different.
As a base, try to work with darker grey instead and use high contrasts without loosing details (light reflections can preserve details even with very dark colors).
Do you have something you want to do, or more concrete questions?
Edit:
This is a quick comparison on the enforcer, not sure if this helps.
1. Just 100% Black on the black layer (normal mode on top. linked to the white layer).
2. reduced to 80% fill/transparency on the black layer.
3. 80% transparency with additional adjustment layer with higher contrast.

These repaints have reached a quality where I don't even bother starting up my photoshop, but I really hope others will!
