Lucky for you it's Friday! Time to relax a little. (I plan on blowing things up tonight, got a MWLL tourney to play in!!)

So I went through this entire thread last night (yes I was working...yes...I was bored).

And I thought, dang man I wish there was an easier way to view all of these repaints.

So I created one (I'm trying to fix the by:mwo.kaemon issue, but Flickr blows, everyone who made a repaint is listed on there, if I missed anyone or have the wrong person let me know).

This is not to direct attention anywhere else (it's the longest running thread in the forums) but just for a way to people to quickly find repaints they like without going through 62 pages of forum posts.

If people have major issues with it, PM me and I'll send it up as a group in Flickr (that might be better, as the batch file I wrote to upload this had serious issues dealing with the quoting pics, especially when people removed the quote frames).

:)

Also...it makes a killer slide show for your second monitor!

Gentlemen,
Dropship is a space craft moving between T-ship and planet surface, every successful flight it passes through different layers of the atmosphere at least twice. There’s no reason to paint up whole shuttle, even if some nano-dye capable to withstand high temperatures during landing and takeoff many times would exist, it’s not viable economically to paint up whole shuttles with it.
I bet dropships would look like charred hulls with not very large symbols of mosaic tiles (not even sure colored tiles or not). Just my 2 C-Bills.

The takeoff should not damage the paint, the only major time you'll get intense heat along the surface of the dropship is during a portion of the re-entry. During this phase the dropship should be presenting its broadest aspect anyway to help increase the drag and decelerate quicker. This means any paint on the surfaces that face up (relative to the ships orientation when landed) wouldn't be affected. The only places where the paint could/would get blistered and burnt off would be the portions of the ship that face towards the planet during the portion of re-entry when the most friction heat is experienced. Once through that phase an Aerodyne DropShip would reorient to fly like a plane, while a Spherical DropShip would most likely continue to keep its thrusters pointed down towards the planet.

Summed up, the upper facing surfaces could be painted without worrying about them burning off. The lower facing surfaces would most likely be blackened and burnt, barring the use of heat resistant colored tiles, or some sort of super heat resistant paint.

I should try to sort these by model type *kicks Flickr* the fade in/out is cool when the model is the same and just the colors change....

This thing is a ***** to repaint... not 100% happy with this, but it's what I've got so far.

I got rid of all that horrible white background and made it transparent, cause that was driving me nuts. There was a lot of work just to get to this point, due to the way they had it colored in the original.

Needs more detail, numbers, fiddly bits. My yellow "emergency omg don't touch this in motion" kinda details are much less noticeable when not zoomed in at 800%... work to be done yet.

Edit:

I threw in a lance real quick, didn't try to get the size ACCURATE, just "close". Couldn't replicate the "shadow" of the dropship for the mechs quickly, so I just got rid of it.

That 1st Robinson Rangers insignia should be in different angles. :)

Other than that, it is awesome.... to shoot these things out of the sky.

Very nicely done, indeed. But, yeah, the back posts are really throwing me off, too.
