looks good, really good. Even good hard points if it were a thing something like 4x energy and 3x missile? Two energy in each arm and I'll buy it.

6 total hardpoints. I am sticking in line with the other GRFs.

the Fianchetto
1x Energy (RA) PPC
2x Energy (LA) MLaser x2
2x Missile (RT) SSRM2 x2
1x Missile (LT) aLRM15
280XL
3 JJ
11 DHS
Armor 368/370

I run the build on my GRF-1N(P) and love it. This is with my "ideal" hardpoint placement. And cosmetically, I think it beats the standard GRF. I also use the torso JJs from the Wolverine, which IMO, just fit the look of the GRF better.

This awesome and storic thread has been fallen under the weight of other threads and the fan art section itself is buried under tons of other fan stuff. +1 for the new forum changes :)

Thanks Odanan! It is one of those periods when RL creeps up on me and I use my spare time building the Atlas Hunters Merc Unit.

I will come back from time to time but I challenge the community to pursue the efforts of many of us in this thread (including of course Hayden and myself.) I have seen great stuff on enjin sites but a lot of stuff hasn't been posted here...

OK, I know most of the stuff is repaints of the concept arts, but TBH, sometimes I like the in game models better, and the ability to get more poses for the repaints. So if anyone wants it, here is a fresh template for the Adder/Puma

TBH I prefer the smaller PPCs, If you want them to be bigger, my suggestion is to make them longer not fatter. The Mechwarrior 3 Puma's (best puma evar!!!?) arms were mostly barrel IIRC and it looked absolutely ferocious.

Yeah, I hate the long spindly look. It's where I think Alex pooched the Summoner design with that ludicrous long spindly barrel.

The PPCs on a Banshee and Awesome are relatively wide barreled, I prefer that look. And technically since I did a global rescaling on the arm pods, they are longer AND wider. But you can take the template and modify it as you wish.

Nice work! *thumbs up* I approve.

I'm glad I checked this section before I started cutting that picture out.

If you can't get a hold of photoshop.

The gimp is available at gimp.org. Its free and has a lot of the same functionality that photoshop does.

Its not too diffult to find tutorials on how to use it to make art on youtube and elsewhere.

Using template images like the one Bishop Steiner posted above & the ones in my thread here:

http://mwomercs.com/...-cutout-thread/

Anyone can make quality fanarts.

thx man, yeah i have all the art tools...just the lack of mental fortitude required to utilize the tools, also an unfortunate lazy streak is getting in my way of learning

hmm, I would consider coming out of retirement if we had lets say, a proper Griffen Template ( as I have seen the concept art was posted in the media section ) . ( Lots of nice detail on that concept ! )

I'd rather template the IGMs, TBH, but might do it after I get done tweaking my Adder.

Not sure what goes into an "Official" Template, though.

The cut outs in my thread:

http://mwomercs.com/...-cutout-thread/

Could be useful for painting & other things.

Like say if you wanted a bright hot pink griffin.

You could start with the cutout image.

Posted Image

Create a layer of the color you want to paint your mech. In this case: pink.

Posted Image

Change layer mode from normal to grain merge(you can see the option on far right).

Posted Image

This gives you a pink base to work with.

Posted Image

Or a green base if grain merge is changed to grain extract.

Posted Image

It is also easy to switch backgrounds.

Posted Image

Other techniques might be used to make everything look better.

Higher res image to show this method might do an 'ok' job of maintaining detail.

Posted Image

edit -

I made a mistake. Soft light seems to work much better than grain extract.

It could be faster painting from a cut out image, being that you don't have to worry about coloring inside the lines as far as the outline is concerned.

If I can figure out a good method to remove the unit insignias and other details and paint a mech I'll post a tutorial later.

Yes, removing the insignias has been my base stumbling block thus far. I am doing it, but it is slow, tedious and inexact.
