Hayden, have you released the Panther template somewhere? I've looked around, but not noticed it. The text on that image suggests that one exists, though.

I'm still not quite ready to release it into the "wild" yet, but I'm getting close :)

i usually do about 10 repaints with 'em, in a variety of designs, and once I'm satisfied I turn 'em loose.

As an aside, with the Griffin: this is a little different, as I included optional non-slip pads, as seen on many mechs in MWO. Repainters can choose to use these, omit them, or use them in part. Just so its clear what that extra layer is ;)

I believe he's talking about the parts of armor that you'll normally paint. Rather than having the joints too, you know the template you use to make sure you don't paint onto the actuators and junk. "non slip" (At least that's what i think he means.)

ah. As a noob, I call it the plating, or "armor template", lol.

And as a poor noob, since GIMP doesn't seem to recognize the layers, I always just upload both, separate.

Ah, not quite. I'm referring to these:

You'll notice them on a number of 'mechs in game.

I think you get it. It's not part of the armor per se, but something placed over the armor, so that the mechanics working on 'mechs don't slip off. Below are a couple examples of how these could be rearranged.

Similar, tends to be rubberized instead of glorified sandpaper. Not really overly popular in high heat environments, and a 'Mech certainly qualifies as such. On a 'Mech that probably ends up melted. If working in the field without the benefit of heavy gantries and cherry pickers techs probably just use rope and climbing harnesses.

I haven't done a recolor in over a year and I seem to be missing something. Previous recolors I have done did not have this problem as far as I can recall and if they did than I have forgotten the fix. The problem I'm having is while painting if I go over the lines it colors over the background too. I know that (at least most of) the psd files have masking to prevent this so I'm wondering if something on the settings of my program is wrong or if the blank I'm using just lacks those.

I'm using GIMP 2 and trying to paint a Victor.

In the past I've added filters, colors, and even layers containing cammo patterns (real world and ones I designed) without it spilling over the background.

Please, someone?

I removed the background of the "gifting banner" King Crab and added the missing foot (using the speed painting art).

Now I hope some very talented artist will commit to the hard endeavor of cleaning this art, which will allow the making of a later template.

Because this thread deserves King Crab repaints.

Earlier in this thread (as in closed beta early) there was a green awesome with a mouth painted between it's torso PPCs that looked amazing. However I can't find it anymore :/

Hey, Odanan, + from me for not letting this thread to frozen, but honestly, I hoped for full resolution art of KC from PGI, maybe it's not a good time to hurry with template yet?
