Of the 2 of them, I'd have the Daishi. It has the Atlas out-gunned and it looks better in my opinion. HOWEVER, my preferred assault 'Mech is the Mad Cat MKII.

What's a Daishi??? Some sort of Kurita raw fish dinner???? Atlas all the way, with Catapult fire support will cook Kurita's Daishi all day long!

Sorry Jaguar Knight but a Daishi isn't a Kurita mech but an Omnimech favoured by Clan Wolf. It is also known as Dire Wolf as far as i know. The word "daishi" is japanease for "great death".

But if i have the choice between an Atlas and a Daishi i would prefer the Omnimech because as it is. The Omnimech matches in speed and armor the Atlas but has more firepower and it could be equipped with multiple weapon systems because of the clan tech. ^^

Even if the Atlas is a great mech i would prefer in this case the Daishi. :)

Daishi, it just lookes cooler. But I would have to customize it in the mechlab to have the same amount of armor as an Atlas.

In the tech readouts and anything based directly on the classic rules, they have the same, 19 tons, do they not?

Dire Wolf. Much more capable, way cooler-looking.

As for complaints about Clantech, the only real issue is that their pulse lasers have a blatantly unfair amount of range and should really have a range of, say, IS regular lasers. Clantech plays fine against clantech, IStech plays fine against IStech, the cross-game is admittedly lacking thanks to a propensity for pulse laser keepaway tactics. (Actually, if you let your opponent pick clan pulse lasers, the whole match devolves to relying on them. Really, they're the bane of the tabletop game.)

Well I think that I would go with the Atlas more armor and it can cause a serious beat down with it's fists when you close in. My favorite Mechs are Banshee, Devastator, Templar and the Blitzkrieg 50 tonner with and Auto A/C20 BABY!

Both are good for me. but when push comes to shove, I go with the daishi hands down ;) (The clan-IS tech debate isn't important to me. I just use whatever helps scrap enemies fast)! However, I do have a preference for the sunder. 90 tons and that baby can MOVE!

I would probably choose clan tech Dire Wolf(IS Daishi) over IS tech Atlas. Kinda easy to understand. Double heat sinks, non standard engine/armor/chassis, long range weapons that are actually long range.

Atlas is just close range brawler.

If I were to have the oportunity to pick and choose my mech I would assume that gives me the opportunity to pick and choose what goes into it. Everyone keeps talking about standard options between the two. Truth is you can load out your Atlas or Dire Wolf however you want. The thing is the Atlas has a pyschological advantage and that was why it was created to look that way. I would be loading my Atlas with as much clan tech which includes armor and weapons as I could. Oh and take out the inner sphere engine pop in a clanner with thier double hit sinks and what do you have? A Dire Wolf that looks like an Atlas. In case you didn' notice I choose the Atlas :)
