commander needs to be with his/her troops to pass on the info - makes a 2 seat cyclops a good choice for a company commander & more true for simulation in commanding if ever it was available - one person pilots the mech & the other just commands the battle full time
feel like a real commander then almost like Mechcommander idea & how it was portrayed in the novels
just have to hope your pilot is someone you can trust!!

I will say though I hope that 'Mechs are well balanced and every 'Mech has it's advantages and disadvantages. We can't simply rely on personal preference to ensure a variety of 'Mechs on the field. I'd hate to see every scout in a Raven, for example.

Meh, happy with the BLR-1G, better short range firepower while still able to support lancemates with the PPC.
I am curious though as to why PGI doesn't consider assault mechs as decent command mechs.

and please dont forget about the Player controlled Dropship. I suspect it should work kind of like a mech as far as the skill tree and mods go. or ?

also, if i want better targeting on my light scout mech, and still have the scouting tech...why cant i just trade weaps = tonnage like in the previous games? i want to multi role at the same time if i can fit it, or take none of the roles for slightly better standard weapons etc.
also, why does it cost any slots or anything to command? everyone has a HUD and a basic communication.....silly if the call in support bit refers to anything like an airstrike or satellite laser god, or w/e, ima be very sad uninstalling this MW does not stand for modern warfare.
also, i am still very very worried about mech trees and player trees actually adding advantages that are not trade offs. for instance if any of the mech tree things actually help the mech, like slightly better heat dissipation or slightly lighter armor or w/e..... that doesnt make any sense because a mech warrior is not a better engineer than the factory designers. also, it just plain sucks in my opinion that playing a mech longer makes the mech better. i dont want even a slight advantage because i play a lot. well...that might not be a problem now....
the more i hear about this, the more i think they are getting too creative for the games good if you say i dont have the detail, why havent we gotten any real examples? and even with none, how can at least a few of these concerns not be true?

To Statler above: perhaps it's a simple way to represent the massivly complex situation that is piloting a giant death robot? Look at pilots of Cesnas as opposed to space shuttles; a light aircraft pilot has minimal controls and the pilot only has to maintain minimal contact with air trafic control. A space shuttle on the other hand has far more to manage in both their 'aircraft' and their relationship with 'air traffic control'.
That said, you can bet that astronaughts started off in something alot smaller and simpler.
