I'll be going Clan when I can, but don't have much interest in the RP-heavy stuff. It's mostly because the people I'd be playing with most likely will too. That and clans are just Better.

Zellbrigen? Hah, why would I go easy on people?
I doubt with that attitude you will be accepted in any of the Clans !!!!!

The sad thing is, that the reality will (IMO) likely reflect the opposite - most players that opt to join the Clans will be of the "Best gear at all costs! Victory a all costs! Clan culture/traditions/ROE be d***ed!" mentality. :P

At this point, I fully intend to stay with the IS - specifically, the Federated Suns.

While I would obviously prefer to win engagements more often than lose them, I would not mind being beaten by Clan players if humans could be trusted to maintain Clan ROE for as long as possible (and could even go so far as to praise those who do so when not technically required to do so by the letter of the rules). :D

However, I suspect that the majority - to the point of very nearly representing the totality - of those who would "go Clan" will hold the same contempt for "the Way of the Clans" as expressed above by Sirius.
Incidentally, I expect such individuals to also be of the sort whose idea of sportsmanship is to shout "L2P n00b!" when victorious and "N00b build! Hax!" when defeated. :P

Hence my position that the vast majority of humans simply can not and should not be trusted to portray Invasion-era Clanners, and that MWO would be much better-off with the Clans being initially (that is, for the first several months of the Invasion) be restricted to Dev and/or AI control...

@Sturm Wealh I think you are wrong , from what i seen at that point that kind of attitude is more likely to be seen in the IS then the Clans , if you take a notice that there is regular troll posts at almost all clan treats , but almost without such things in the IS part of the forum , my simpe opinion is that Clans players will rid off from these kind of players and they will not be majority , but that will be the biggest problem in the IS gameplay , when the time is come we shall see .
About the Clans to be played by the devs or AI we can put it in the other way , if you are so unhappy from the clan tech why just we don't drop the IS and all play as a Clan Warriors ?

P.S. You don't need to answer to the last part !!!

If the rules tell me to do it, I'll do it, but I don't see much sign MW:O is actually going to force certain ways of fighting on people. It'll most likely be like MW4, and in all the hundreds of games I played for Clans in NBT, a grand total of one used Zellbrigen - the rest, they didn't bother. And that was pre-arranged - nobody ever played Zellbrigen in open games of the likes we're seeing in MW:O.

So I don't see much reason why it would change for this game - unless the devs forced it in the game. And it'd have to be not breakable, otherwise drama and flame-wars will result.

I see a lot of people like the storyline and I must say.. I'm discovering it since I've bought the founders' pack.
Unfortunately I've been playing MW3 for a bit (lan playing with friends) and later on a horde of MW4 and Mercenaries, but I must admit I've never given too much importance to the storyline at all..

So far I'm a bit disappointed about IS-only mech/tech choice, since I was hoping to find some of my MW4 favourites, mostly Thor, but above all, I loved to go with an ECM'd Loki with radar off and raid everyone with double LBX's (clan of course..).

I miss a lot a mid-to-short range brawler within 70 tons, so.. when clan tech will be made available, I'll jump on that "bandwagon"; but my choice will be mostly for power/weight ratio and the looks.

I like current mech design, so I'd love to see such a detail on Clan platforms, they'll be gorgeous!

You may find some other IS 'mechs that suit how you play, Clan and IS.
Also Clan Jade Falcon seems to love using Hellbringers(Lokis), so look into that.

Yes Ghost Bear with a Kodiak or a Loki and I would be in heaven. That's the only two mechs I would ever need but I might make room for a MadCat. OH THE FUN!!!!

P.S. I eat inner sphere scum for breakfast

Well, we'll just have to disagree.
Though, perhaps you could explain - with some quotations and examples - why you think I'm wrong...? :)

Have you seen the House Liao sub-forum, or a number of the threads (which, for the most part, had since been deleted or cleaned by the moderators) in which the "Word of Lowtax" had shown a significant presence?

How is it that one set of Clan-oriented players "will [get] rid [of] from these kind of players"?

From what information that has been released thus far, the Clans will be run as Factions (that is, more similarly to the IS Houses' militaries), thus making the Clanners Faction Players (as described in Dev Blog 01).

This would seem to imply that, unlike Merc Corps, Clan units might have relatively little control of their membership.
As it happens, the lack of player control over the operation of Faction units seems to be one of the main reasons behind why the larger would-be Faction units, like the FS's Robinson Rangers and the FRR's Skjaldborg, are seting themselves up as Merc Corps.

By contrast, the Clans canonically despise mercs as much or more than both the Draconis Combine and the FRR.
And the nearest thing they could have to "Lone Wolves" are the equally (if not moreso) hated Bandit Caste.
As such, it would be unsurprising if the analogous options simply weren't available to would-be Clanners.

So, what happens if those players who do actually embrace the "Way of the Clans" (who, IMO, will still amount to the proverbial needles-in-haystacks) can't simply boot the power-gamers and self-appointed "pro-gamers" from the Faction?

Because the Clans don't really have the diversity or depth for long-term sustainability in a MMO environment?

Additionally, the problem isn't so much the Clan tech in and of itself - the problem lies in the combination of Clan tech and people who do not care at all for the Clans' honor-bound and duelist-minded culture and philosophy, which (together with their low numbers), served as a balancing factor against their superior technology.

How would the Devs recreate that balance without hard-wiring Zellbrigen into the game in such a way that it could not be bypassed or negated?
Or reducing the capabilities of Clan tech (namely, weapon range and/or damage) to reduce the performance gap?
Or being very specific and exclusive in who can and cannot join the Clans?

@Sturm Wealh
1St. How the Clan players will rid off from the people who are there only for the TEK - as any other game the guilds have options like "kick" player.
2nd. If some of these players manage to create their own guild they can become isolated without any allied guild around them , simply because the other guilds dont share their "vision for gameplay" , so what will happed if they are alone against all IS guilds in that sector ???
3th. It was mentioned that Devs will find way to force player to fight in the clan ways with the game mechanic !

About the Liao forum - do you think that these "trolls" are clan supporters ???? I take a look from time to time at the house forums and i see more trolling between the houses insted the Clans vs IS , here the things are around even your topic polluted by IS trolls.

The last about the weapons and the tek we cannot comment that theme at that point , but when the OPEN BETA is live we can discuse it.

P.S. I am using "GUILD" to not be mistaken with the "Clans"

The devs are going to balance the tech. There's really no other way to do it that will work out in the long run.

The Clanner in me would very much like to keep Zellbrigen but would the Inner Sphere abide by it? Not if they're like my dirty freebirth gaming buddy Conner.

Can't jump ship when I was never in it to begin with.

As for Zellbrigen, I will honor the code only among fellow clansmen. The Inner Sphere will not give us that honor, I can and will deny them the honor I feel they will not grant me honor combat, should I decimate their first warrior.

In the table top my Kuritan character has been fighting and winning against these clanners and in MW I plan on doing the same.

Their over dependancy on Better tech truly shows their weakness as Warriors of Honour or nobility, unlike the DCMS.

Hail the Co Ordinator and DEATH to the Clan invading scum.

Unfortunately my Clan's OZ doesn't cut into the DC, I would have loved fighting you.
