Unseen/reseen: Aye Or Nay?

Personally, I'd be happy with a behemoth or marauder(warhammer would be fine, too) simply because they're crazy lookin'. Like a catapult with one giant gun on the top and arms hangin' down from like their chins.
I'd really like to see what PGI could come up with based on these body styles because...like some people have already pointed out all over the place, PGI's art style is freaking fantastical.

the "unseen" from Crusher Joe are now 'Reseen' - and myself love them.

"They include the Locust, Griffin,Shadow Hawk, Thunderbolt, Scorpion, Wolverine, and BattleMaster."
not to mention the weird 4-leg walker Goliath.

You're right, and some people here will kill for Shadow Hawk or Wolverine

Besides, where's my axeman? That's the mech that got me interesting in Mechwarrior in the first place... Not that it makes any difference, I'm a clanner at heart.

No, these units are Macross. I wish HG would diaf and go bankrupt. They haven't been relevant since their one-hit wonder of Robotech in the 80's (which yes i always loved, despite Macross itself being better). If it weren't for them, this thread would be a non-issue, and we would have many Macross games localized into English for export outside of Japan, which HG has been ****-blocking for the last couple decades.

Actually the Unseen come from three different anmie series. Super Dimension Fortress Macross, as you have mentioned, Crusher Joe, and Fang of the Sun Dougram.

There are also a few that are unsourced, or come from one source through another.
As an example of the former, the Peregrine (a second-line Clan-built Light 'Mech) is considered Unseen by Catalyst (as evidenced by its blacked-out silhouette in its Master Unit List entry).
Unseen Peregrine:
Reseen Peregrine:
While it doesn't seem to be attributed to the usual sources (Macross et al), I personally think that the original Peregrine looks rather... Zeonic.

That's the only real Unseen I would not compromise on.

They used to, but never will again.
But, that is for the images ONLY. The names used were all FASA. And no matter what anyone tells you, including PGI, they could re-image them to their hearts content if they truly wanted to.
This brings about the three points of concern/discussion:
1. If they deviate design too much, player base won't be satisfied. (And must therefor fight left handed.)
2. If they don't deviate enough, there will be a lawsuit. Even if it does deviate enough, there could STILL be a lawsuit.
3. As they have done before (and have every right to hold their cards close) PGI could be saving unseen mechs for future HERO/MC releases. They get money. We get beloved classics. More choice for all. Win-win-win
