Kaemon, thanks for the info, but after extensive work on my computer, I have found that my grafix card is not up to speed for the game nor is my cpu, even running dual 2.38 gig cores and 4 gigs of ram, unfortunately it will cost me more to upgrade my computer that to buy an alion ware from dell with everything on it, so the old com will go to the kids and as soon as I can afford it I will purchase a new comp for me, like I said I have been waiting over 2 yrs for Mechwarrior Online to go to open beta, hope to see you and eveyone in the feilds battling soon.

Well after a long and headbanging run thru my computer i found that I can in the game itself turn everything down to low settings, but it is so choppy with my low dsl that i get my butt killed fast, so I can now get in but still cant play, the responses are slow and driving the mech is a pain, lol, will upgrade my dsl and see if that helps.

I have recently been accepted to the beta play. I was very disappointed in the game because it is Just PVP with no background story and No quest to follow and rewards on completion. I thought the game would be somewhat similar to Mechwarror Mercenary. Just mono on is fun but lacks any deapth to keep most gamers interested. Varzon

I doubt very much it's your DSL. What kind of ping do you get? To check hit TAB in-game.

Well i've enjoyed playing MWO so far and i'm doing pretty well, theres a big satisfaction from when the whole team does their bit and everything works well, it really feels like a team effort and is so differen't from any fps i've played in a long time, the cryengine 3 is pretty heavy on the resources right now, infact crysis 2 runs faster but it all works really well at such an early stage of the game, with new content and changes to the engine i expect things to run slow at first.

I'm a keen beta tester for alot of games, i usually beta test games on steam, one being CS:Go which i did for around 6 months then BF3 for a couple months and another one of my favourites being diablo 3 and Minecraft which i was playing and testing since alpha so i've got some experience of finding bugs in betas.

As i said in a previous post i'm new to MWO but i'm a fan of mech games, the last time i really had a shot of a good one was during the PS2 & Xbox era, i've got a couple armored core games for ps3 but they ran horribly and never really apealed to me because of that.

I was just wondering though i like to write down a list of bugs & glitches that i find, is there any dedicated threads for reporting bugs that i can paste some of my findings in? So far i'm really impressed with my game and it looks like it can only get better over the months, i'd like to do my bit to help and make this game even better.

All of that is coming with full release, open beta means just that. Beta. Don't worry devs have promised a large persistant galaxy, house allegiances, canonical timeline, etc. Just have to wait until everything falls into place ;)

Hey guys.
I'll just drop it in here:

I played some few matches over the last 2 days and already have some stuff to report/comment (positive and negative)... but there is one thing in particulat that really annoys me. REALLY.

The matchmaking.

I know that this is a Beta and all, but even for a beta the matchmaking sucks. REALLY.
How am I supposed to learn and TEST the game, when the matchmaking is COMPLETELY imbalanced?
Every second match ends with one side completely raped. With some luck, they/we manage to kill one or 2 enemies, but they/we are completely chanceless. If you watch the stats at the end, you see that one team is filled with funny banners, whereas the other is full of funny grey faces. And not only that: One Catapult (e.g.) vs. three Catapults isn't that fair, too.

Again: I know that this is a Beta, but... make it at least a LITTLE enjoyable.

edit: Oh... and btw: The amount of people, who have no clue what a "gg" is, is (too) damn high.
Rapematch? gg!
Capping match with no action at all? gg!
[Other kinds of stupid and boring matches]? gg!

Hmpf... how I HATE those guys! >.<#

there are 3 phases to the matchmaker coming in over the next short while

phase 1 will be no 8-man groups, only 4 man maxium (filled in with 4 random players) this should increase your chances of having some organised players on your side and decrease the chances of only having organised players on the other team, this should be live on the 6th November iirc

phase 2 - 8 man teams re-introduced but can only play against other 8 man teams this will be added a couple of weeks after phase 1

phase 3 will take a bit longer but will be a full XP / skill / stats based matchmaker that puts new players against new players and more experienced players and groups against other experienced players and groups, it will also allow for tournament type matches where you can choose your opponents

Ok, thx for the info.

But it doesn't change the fact that starting an open Beta with a MM like this is fail by default...

Hellowzz all!

a little question: is there a place where we can consult our battle statistics? Or hasn't that been implemented yet?

I only see community stats there. I'm referring to ingame battle statistics of played battles.

I think you'll have to earn money first with your trial mechs... Then you can buy new ones in the Mech lab, but they'll cost a bit, so you'll need to play quite some games in the trial mechs.

Trial mechs generate no xp, only money, but also incur no operating costs for resupply/rearm.

Basically this, the trials exist to let you test each different battlefield role. Remember, a Jenner can benefit the team more than an Atlas if the Jenner pilot knows his role better and is more skilled and experienced. See what role you like (generally it's lights=scouts, mediums=support, heavies=mixed bag, and assaults=frontline sponge, but some mechs can do multiple roles) and then see what mech chassis interests you. Generally the "first" chassis for a mech is the easiest to learn and also the cheapest.

Good luck!

Hello all! First post in the forums because I'm awesome like that.

Just a real quick question:
Are the features to change faction, profile pic and the like not implemented yet? It is kinda of annoying to see two anon pics on my game launcher. And my profile just lets me change the basics (User name, email, etc.). It is not big deal, I just want to know if I'm suffering from a bit of brain damage after too many hits on the field of battle.

Many thanks in advance.

Me again...
Ok... (not only) with this matchmaking the game isn't playable at all. Played some matches this evening and they ALL ended with one team getting raped in <5min. Mostly MY "team" ofc. Didn't even manage to get one single kill in my new hunchback so far (maybe because the rocket version is pretty much useless, don't know...).
I think I will give it a try again when the REAL beta starts, this is just... meh. At this stage the game hasn't that much to do with the games I loved when I was younger. It's more like CoD with mechs on mini maps.
Sorry for the whine, but I'm actually a little diappointed... :(

Nevertheless I would ask some stuff I don't understand:

1. Invincible Jenners?
There are some who really soak up tons of damage. Could it be that there are some hitbox issues or something? I mean... "3 vs. 1" shouldn't end with "1 dead, 2 damaged vs. 1 still alive". Even if the damage is spead on all modules because of it's speed... 8 med lasers (not mentioning the other weapons) should be able to kill it fast. At least that is what happens to my Jenner all the time. But even I had 2 matches in whcih I asked myself "Holy bratwurst... how the hell did I survive that?"
Something is going ridiculously wrong there... no idea.

2. Capping.
Way too fast. Especially since moving back to the base takes 10 minutes with non-light mechs. If you are in a light mech, you have to face 2-3 enemy (light) mechs, which ends with fail by default. And the playerbase seems too ******** to understand that red flashing information on the screen -> No support.
What if the cap-counter would slowly reset/decrease if the enemy leaves the base? Wouldn't mess up the concept, but help to prevent all those boring capwins.

3. Match outcome/rewards.
So... you get a good amount of CBills - afair around 50% of the outcome for average matches - by just joining the match and doing nothing at all?
Brace yourself, the bots are coming...

4. Maps...
One major downpoint.I would actually vote for adding usable hands/fists for mech-brawling at close range.
Add bigger and more open maps, please...

5. Physics.
No criticism here... I just want to know if there will be any physics in the near future, especially concerning movement and stuff. Atm it's pretty much sluggish and chaotic...

Greetings everyone, I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this so if its not mods feel free to move it to the appropriate thread :D Other than Guild Wars I've never downloaded a game just off the net so I was wondering if anyone knows about how long it takes to get this one on your computer? The last time I checked before going to bed I was only 449 or so mgs out of the 1000 something for just the first patch. Left it running and when I got up had a message it had timed out and did I want to start over, just hoping it was the power saver kicking in that killed things and not some other problem. Other than that maybe not fast enough computer (have a new alienware ordered) or to slow of an dsl connection (I happen to be at the end of a phone line route and am unable to get the faster connections stuck with the 1.3 or 1.5) Thanks for any help and suggestions!
