i have a continuous dislike for the Timber Wolf and the marauder. TW is ugly and everywhere while the MAD is just too ugy for me to ever use.

Of the mechs we could see at the start, I have no love for:

Hoplite
Banshee (although this one is ok: http://www.sarna.net...Banshee_11X.jpg)
Crab (could use some updating)
Whitworth
Cyclops

For me the dislike comes not from the weapon loadout or chassis design, it is when the concept art for the 'mech in now way reflects the actual loadout of the 'mech. The 2750 TRO was very bad in this case, with lots of streamlined 'mechs that do not match at all to the weapon loadout described - taking a random example, the Lancelot 'mech: Large Laser in each arm, check. PPC in the Torso - ?

While the 2750 TRO is worst for these mismatches, all the TRO's fail in this respect at some time. So for me the dislike is - when you are designing art for a 'mech make sure you are following the design specs as given. Or conversely, change the design specs to reflect what the visual actually shows.

However, in keeping with this thread the 'mech I dislike the most is the Goliath. An assault 'mech with only one main weapon? The two LEM-10 as backups are a joke, the Goliath is severely underarmed for its weight class.

Clan
  • Fire Moth / Dasher - While functionally this is a good Mech design, it just looks sillier than all get out... I mean really what's the point of the reverse jointed arms? (yeah, I know pods) but really... put your arms down dude... your pits stink! To me, visually it looks like a little kid reaching with both arms over a counter top... Not exactly a design that exudes fear.
  • Stormcrow / Ryoken - Okay, another function over form design by our test-tube buddies... Okay Mech that looks like it's lost it's head. That and the arms simply look like an after thought... Almost as if right before the end of their shift at the Mech plant, someone found a pair of arms laying around and stuck them on as a lark for the next shift and nobody noticed...
These are mine... Let's hear yours!

Calling clan mechs ugly? Thats where i draw the line.

I think the Hatamoto-Chi is goofy as all get-out.

I'm struggling to remember the name.It looked like a giant Catapult, was less useful though. Want to say it was Assault class and only carried missile racks. Looked like legs attached to giant missile racks.

I always liked BT/MW designs for their realism, relative of course. At least they look more like combat vehicles, than Japanese-style giant humanoid robots with glowing eyes and mandatory helmet decorations.

I do not want to write a wall of text about technical characteristics of 50-60 mechs. So I only say about mechs I dislike for their design.

1) All mechs, which have weapons in their hands. Not integrated into arm, but held like rifle/gun.
Examples: Hathetman (on top of the list), No-dachi, Battlemaster.
In fact I used to dislike all mechs with hands, but new designs for MW:O looks much better.

2)All mechs, with faces/claws/fangs and other non-functional elements. Or ones with too much anthropomorphic design.
Examples: Kodiak, Commando, Man-O-War.

3)Some exceptions that worth to be mentioned.
Atlas – it have hands, scull and humanoid form, but it not too silly. And have good explanation in lore why it made this way.
Firemoth (Dasher) – no hand-held weapons or anthropomorphic design, but it have very silly overall look.Posted Image

This place went ballistic with the reboot of the Centurion... I'm not looking forward to the day the "Chi" gets its reboot! Agreeably it's Anime roots shine through a lot more than most Mechs... That said, it's a defining House Kurita design that many people have almost a fanatical love of...

Was it in the Mech 4 mercs from MekTek? If we are thinking of the same one, it's the Yoeman, and it's ridiculous.

You and me both -- why are your hands like that Dasher? You are not that short, you shouldn't be on your tip toes trying to reach for something!

Tech-lore has it the original design incorporated some sort of experimental infantry "pods" slung from them... In production the arm configuration supposedly was never corrected.

I think name wise is the bushwacker. Man... 'nough said there lol. Though look wise reminds me of a hummer. Ugly, waste of fuel, but somehow still is used.

For serious though, the gargoyle. *** is that supposed to look like... A diving suit from the 1900's? If it had cool facial features or a more gargoyle esk look I wouldn't complain.
