Ahahahahaa. Ya, not many knew it at the time.
I just wanted this quoted for truth.

I still remember it clear as yesterday. My AIM was up and running about 2:30 in the morning. I received an IM from engineer. It said "Rush, dood...we are playing 3025" I was like ***? lol "Yea..lol and Im freakin rich and about to buy the rights to mpbt"
"Dood..seriously..wait...here"
3 minutes pass and a link pops up
"Shya..right, I am not clicking on that...I know you freakin "legioneers"
"DOOOOOD, Im not ******* with you. We are playing right now. The servers got hacked"

I paused, took a deep breath and said screw it. hit the link and a pop up stating the beta 3025 exe.
It actually started downloading..but what..lol
I was so tired I went to bed.
When I woke, my AIM was blown up with IM's. The download was complete and it wasnt until I saw the splash screen that I began to bounce off the walls. I couldnt believe it. It was so true.
I can actually say I was the 13th person online in 3025
Good times!!

For GEnie in 91/92(when I played for 3-4 months, $6/hr was non-Prime time (6pm to 8am local time) and jumped $18/hr prime time (only did that ONCE!!!) Of course mulltiple severe credit card burn out (2 jobs and school ;) )
GEnie for Davion
netbeta Solaris Davion
AOL-Gamestorm Solaris Kurita
EA-MPBT3025 Kurita (EA can burn)

What was funny about Majesty that it was going to be their "flagship" but it did not even last 6 months after the non-EA games (MPBT/Airwarrior and others) were closed down.

What up Tarl!!!

MPBT 3025... good times.

Hey JO, You I remember for sure, and there are a few names that seem familiar, I remember hanging around with some of the Group W crowd, too (not in person...)

Used to go by The Doctor or DocMorningstar. Ran with HoSD for a while, and going to be running with their new incarnation here. I am *so* stoked...

I didn't find the game until after the last big reset (EVERYONE in your Ravens now...) Other folks had just started to get into some bigger mechs when the whole thing shut down.

Played as Handle: Gemini 10SR then and hope to again here.

Have seen Moku and Dragon on here, looking for CyberSamurai 10SR, Brennan MacGregor, Ranma, St. Bernard and the rest of the 10th Skye Rangers.

It was truly a great game, I hope that we can forge ahead and make MWO even better.

I played MPBT:3025. My callsign was "Redwolf" and I fought for the Federated Suns.

I played MPBT:Solaris on Gamestorm for the longest time.

Was under the name Whitethorn or Thorn. Usually ran in light mechs. Was chasing some guy with the name that started with an R who was like the king if light mechs.

Use to run around with another guy named Greyworlf.

God I played MPBT on AOL and paid a whole lot of money when I was younger. It was a fun community back then, if someone would have kept that going on a monthly subscrition I would still pay for it.

3025 beta is the main reason I didn't buy an EA game for 9 years.

Here's hoping this version is as fun.

Also played Solaris on Gamestorm. Posted Image

Still refuse to buy anything from EA and never will.

hah! late to the show, but I played a lot of MPBT3025 back in the day. was sad when they announced the game getting cancelled. i remember when i first started playing, scrolling through all the mech/weapon choices. i think at the time one of the cheaper mechs was a Jenner, so i strapped 4 med lasers to it and hopped in. i was an old time quake2 player with some railgun talent, so i figured the best tactic for me was to link the lasers and wait for quality shots instead of spamming single shots. with the lag of playing on dialup back then that really was the only effective way to fight. having extensive experience railgunning was a huge benefit. now all you kids with your fiber connections... get off my lawn!!!

...anyway, i don't know if i started it, but after awhile i saw a lot of cheap jenners with 4 med lasers. after the reset they jacked up the price of the jenner sky high heheh.

legging was particularly effective in that game because there was no limping around. dead leg = dead in the water. i remember one dude named SaladShooter who always levelled faster than anybody. when most of us were still under level 10, he was level 21 with a catapult (i believe). my lance of light mechs just legged him and then pounded him in the rear. you know you love that imagery =D
