as for tiering, I would rather not have that. World of Tanks has that. major problems quickly arise as often there is clearly one vehicle each tier which is better than the other, maybe in general, or just one area, such as a much faster firing weapon.
allow MASSIVE cosmetic changes for microsm but dont allow things that unbalance the fights, which would allow change the entire economy. if anything follow the Team Fortress 2 example.
League of Legends doesn't require you own every Champion to have fun or compete, as for the timescale for how long it takes to in-game grind towards a champion - that's debateable. I agree they've been upping and upping the price as they go, to the point where it's gotten greedy rather than fair.
And 'Certs/License to purchase 'Mechs prevents tiering, you don't need to own a license for an Owens to buy a Raven license.
