Depends on the order really, I plan to pilot light or medium Mechs in the game and it the order is like, go solo and kill this assult. Then maybe I will check out (stalk) this player first and if it seems suicidal then I would say no, but I willing to give the commander a chance.

Simpily put if I am in a static group or guild yes. However if I am in a random group...no I am muteing that 8 year old spazzing out just because the game randomly selected him.

Yes i will, it is the trade of for not having time to play games that often. If you are a weaker player it can be counteracted by not thinking you know better.

As a buddy of mine likes to put it, I can follow reasonable orders to a reasonable extent.

I'm not going to haul my 'Mech into the open and out of cover just because some boss man told me to...
...Unless I know there's a good reason why he'd order me to do that.
For example, if I'm supposed to do that so I can cover for someone in our team, or if it's a part of a good strategy, I'll do it.

Well in from what im gathering ther is a chance for more than one commander type role in this game. Hopefully I can be in one of those roles. I have a tight grasp on tactics and feel verey comfortable leading a group of mechs. But if I have a ranking officer telling me what need to be done I'll do it. But I know bs orders when I see them. So if I git a bad order im not going to fallow it. Hell no.

I could of said worst. But I have high hopes for the chain of command in this game. It all just depends on the order given.

here it is for people who have not seen it.

I will follow orders... if they mean we lose, so be it. Hopefully, the commanding officer will know better next time. But, I think following orders or not is more important if you're playing in a set formation. I feel way more comfortable with a pilot at my side whom I know than with some random people. Therefore, I will likely be more inclined to follow risky orders from people I have fought with a couple of times. Likewise, I will feel more responsible for a lost battle or the loss of a comrade, if I didnt follow the orders. I just hope I will never be in the position of ordering the other members of the unit around...

Depends on the unit I'm in, the commander in question and the situation.

a) Death Commandos (haha, as if): I will not question my commander.
b ) Trustable Commander (e.g. has proven him-/herself, known longer, whatever): I will follow all orders, unless d).
c) Non-trustable Commander (e.g. random kiddy a pub game): I will follow orders as long as they make sense to me. I won't follows orders which don't make sense unless given sound reasons. Also, I'll give reasons as to why I won't follow said orders.
d) Obvious suicide order (go park your mech under the dropships exhaust port): No, thanks.

I will follow orders of anybody who is competent enough to lead.

Good leadership is hard to find.
I'll be quick to let people know when their decisions and strategies are stupid. I'm even prepared to lead for a bit until we can find someone who is better at the job then me.

I think that it mostly depends on how well you know your team, a tight knit unit will be far more efficient then a random team.

If the commander isn't a moron, I'll follow orders. If they want me to do something that I can think of a way to do better, I'm using my way, and if they won't consider any suggestions then **** them, I want to live and not have to repair my mech to a ridiculous degree.

Generally speaking, yes. Unless he is a complete *****, in which case I may have to 'alter' the chain of command.

Once we're up and running and get to know each other, you bet, One thing I learned way back in MW4 is the man in charge has to talk and we have to listen. On the flip of that, He has to know that if we give a report that counter acts his order, the orders should be vacated.

Ive played a lot of stratgie games: table top, computer, even a few real life (paintball- sud = speedball)

Commanders are a dificult thing, ive fought under manny, and some give orders that are silly and stupid and might get you killed but when you follow them it turns out there is a plan behind them, you doing your job and following orders will allow a commander to make things happen, you running around like a loony toon and ignoing him, will make his plans fail.

I think there should be a system to see how good an commander is, even some kind of player rating.

And the golden rule: all commander will need to learn how to bring out the best in us, so give them time.
I took me years to become a capible commander, and i'll have to relearn manny thing for this game.

War is ever changing.

There has to be a chain of command, with people willing to be a link in that chain, otherwise you'll have 24 individual teams running about with no coordination and so cohesiveness. Battlefields are chaotic enough as it is without everyone trying to be a..."lone wolf".

That said, I myself am at the moment a Lone Wolf, for my own reasons, but when I'm in a drop with a House or mercenary unit, they'll likely have their own commander, and I'd do as they ask. It's how you get paid. But as an aside, if they ask me to throwaway my 'Mech in every drop simply because I'm "not one of them", there will be problems.

Give a crap about my welfare, and you've got my guns to the bitter end.
