Yeah im not a fan of the proposed grouping changes. At best we are going to be dropping afainst the same small pool of groups or at worst no drops at all. Also are groups of 8 matched on their mech weight classes or simply another group of 8? I ask because if its the former then group drops will be even more rare, if its the latter then full groups could be matched against groups they completely outclass or vice versa.

I swear you devs say you are gamers but you think like corporate yes men. I would really like to talk to your focus group of people who thought of this mess.

On one hand you claim this game is centered around grouping and team play yet you do this. This in no way encourages people to group up, in fact it has the opposite effect.

I'm Sorry Paul, but a lot of us here too are veteran gamers. i really think you need to reevaluate your take on the group mechanic. it's the groups, clans and organised teams that are the heart and soul of this community and will inevitably be the financial power behind it. please try and consider that a great deal of organised groups rely on the current open format to enjoy the game to it's fullest, we like to play with our mates, we like the coordination, the role play, the support our team mates can give us. by restricting the game in the fashion in which you propose will cause a great deal of damage to the manner in which the game is played, it will take away from us the joy of playing in larger groups, we want to play in groups of at least 12, but now you say your going to restrict us to 4 if we dont have a full 8.. why does PGI now pander to the lowest common denominator, why is PGI burning one of it's main pillars by limiting the core driving force of this game, i want to be playing this game 10 years from now, like i still do with BF2.. listen to us, hear us, take note of main force behind this game, it's going to be the Clans, teams and organised groups that will continue to bring in new players, we are already doing your recruiting for you, we spread the word of this game with passion and lust, it is we that will continue to push this game by all means, to keep playing it and making it great long after some other new sparkly game comes along and causes those with no ties to the franchise to leave for the next best thing..

please, rethink your approach to this, ask us to find the working medium let us find the balance, let us help you.

For Devs: Good stuff all the way around. Thanks for listening to us about the major points. I feel like my hard earned $120 was well spent and look forward to what is coming in the future.

For Players: If you are in a unit and you aren't training in proper lances then your officers are doing you a grave disservice.

PGI so far you have set a gold standard in a MMO dev team by listening to the community and yet still maintaining your integrity when developing MWO.

I would be embarrassed to have my pals play this in open beta at this point in time. 4 maps and 1mode is not a game. Assuming your not a hardcore fan. Please give us random starting points on the maps, with bases in different places on the map.... Or something like that to help with replayability. I know you have more in the pipeline, but a pushback is a good call.
With that said, I love the art, the combat, and playing in a 8 man team. Please keep phase 1 to a minimum. Canon always had coms, so should we.

Excellent announcement! Especially regarding the push back for Open Beta.

The most negative aspect of the announcement, not bad necessarily just the least favorable, to me seems to be the grouping element. Groups of 4 is fine since that represents a "Lance" in the IS. But not being able to combine 2 groups of 4 right off the bat seems a huge mistake.
And in order to incorporate Clan organizations we also need multiples of 5 (representing a ("Star") as a possibility.

I think the grouping needs to depend on whether we end up playing as IS or Clan. The "default" for IS, including lone wolves and mercs since there are no such things among the clans, should be groups of 4.
IS should be arranged in groups of 4 and be capable of connecting 3 groups together (representing a "Company" in TT/lore) for a total of 12 'mechs maximum. Clans need to be arranged in Groups of 5 and connect 2 groups together (representing a "Binary" in TT/lore) for a toal of 10 'mechs maximum. This could/would lead to groups as big as 12 vs 12 on the game, but that would also require very large maps.

Just my 2 c-bills worth on the matter. kind of. lol

In WoT you have just 3 player platoons and if you want more you basically need at least 10 players to play companies. And it works just fine, much better than matching a full team against randoms. Just get more friends to form up a full team, can't be that hard? The game cannot be designed around groups of 5-7 cause it's a matchmaking nightmare.

Great reading Paul...I think you all do an outstanding job in your devolopment of the game, not only that you also give us a fabulous feed back on the forum. Yeah we will moan and ***** at you, like a woman when things go wrong but you love us all really. Thats why we have this Brilliant game

Sounds good, great post. I am impressed.
I can agree with everything said here. If now the weapon/heat balance is now fixed to an extent were all weapons are usable and present different tactical choices and where TAG/NARC and all further equipment actually is worth their cost in tons and cbills - Then I might spend some more money on this game.

Disappointed with the match maker "fix" proposed. Seems like a ham-handed approach to the problem. In essence, if your team can't have 8 people online, then the most you can have is 4. That's stupid, and a huge step back, IMO. There has to be a better way.

Everything else proposed is spot-on, though.

I am not sure if I like the matchmaking you guys are doing. I often find myself playing with a group of only 5 or 6 of my friends.

Except that group thing: Good job.
Me and my friends who play this game as well are altogether 6 people.
This essentially means, that 2 of us are always left out. This SUCKS.
I really hope you find a better solution for this.

Right on guys love the news, Seems to me theres some people that dont like the idea of obly being able to group with 3 others vs pugs but i can see it will allow for lancess to properly form and for lancemates to practice together.

The response to the community concerns is greatly appreciated, kudos to you!

As for the match maker, anything that lets people play against others that want the same out of this game is good (PUG vs PUG, premade vs premade). What I don't get is the ban on 5 to 7 groups, what's the deal with that?
