Some of us "Founders" aren't really worried about it. It's still a work in progress and it will continue to be even after the official launch. The game is in a format that it will be continually tweaked with features being added and removed along the way. It's never going to be set-in-stone. It's also never going to be 100% balanced or 100% bug free.

Quoted for truth. Undoubtedly and without question the communication should be better and PGI should be more cautious with what promises it makes, but this is simply the nature of development when it comes to this sort of project. On one hand I love seeing the passion for this franchise, I really do, but on the other it gets people a little TOO worked up. Sometimes when I read the forums I need to briefly remind myself that there's a world outside of this game, and (luckily) I'm not stuck in the Inner Sphere.

^^ THIS ^^

I understand that some people are upset. For my part, i listened the devs and partly accepted what they had to say. I can't do much though, i'll always give my feedback if i can make it constructed... most of the devs answers are pretty viable imo.

But jeez, since 2 or 3 weeks, the forums came HORRIBLE to browse. Only whining and rage with mostly NO reasons. It's like PGI sneaked behind them and stole their lollipop ! Crying like kids ! And that #saveMWO thing is ridiculous... And it's not like they were LYING (Dayum, "to lie", quite powerful words guys) on purpose. Try to think sometimes...

I really REALLY understand that some people are worried, but cut that non-sense. Cheer the devs for the awesome work they have done until yesterday and cheer them up for taking the GOOD decisions tomorrow. Far better productive...

I kinda wish PGI still communicated like this to us. I mean, look at the front page! Just read through all the positive responses!

A response to the major concerns of the community.

We would like to let you all know that we DO listen and DO carefully follow the forums

Current Gameplay Issue:

The instability (lag to completely dead FPS) has been identified

Match Making:

Our current plan is to use a hybrid system that uses the mentality of ELO with a weighting system

Founder’s Premium Account Status:

We have heard your cries

Game Balance:

The game is fairly close to where we want

New User Experience:

We are adding a lot of tutorials for new players, and we believe this will help greatly.

Community Warfare:
Let’s start off by re-quoting the original Community Warfare Pillar from our game description:

Nothing has changed from this original vision of where we want to take Community

Paul, THAT is the problem!

Right now we want the dev team to focus on getting the current game feature set into the live build and then stabilize the build as people join us through the first few weeks of Open Beta. Soon after, a large segment of the entire team will shift over to getting Community Warfare coded and implemented so we can get this into the hands of internal/early beta tester’s hands so we can launch the feature in the future.

At what point did this thing go completely off the rails? The original post sounded so good and now we are close to launch with no tutorials and no CW. Was UI 2.0 so incredibly difficult that it zapped 6 months of development time?

HUD and HSR bugs that refused to die (and still do!!). Dx 11 that refuses to work right.... the list goes on. One or 2 on their own might not be that bad but all added together.........

Edit: the community does need to shoulder partial blame on communication though, that weekend that produced death threats, *smh* was never the same after that.

Well, with Star Citizen just around the corner (A reference to pgi length on development) I'll have a different franchise that I liked back in the day. Just not going to pay any money to a dev team for an unreleased game. Learned my lesson on that front.

What franchise would that be? Star Citizen is a brand new franchise. It's not Wing Commander. There are no Kilrathi. It's not even Starlancer/Freelancer. At most, there are references to his old games in there, but that's it.

Um... look at their intro vid, https://robertsspace.../about-the-game the beginning Squadron 42 section, both at the Kiilrathi fighters, and at the radar screen at 1:06. You see a Kilrathi symbol, and you can see it says the following:

!WARNING!
HOSTILE SIGNAL
FF SIG ID KILRATHI_V

What you are looking at is a "Vanduul Scythe". The Vanduul are the aliens flying those ships (scroll down to the bottom of that link to see the Vanduul). 'Kilrathi' is a reference to his old Wing Commander games. Star Citizen is not Wing Commander.

It's basically going to be MMO Wing Commander though.

Seriously?

Star Citizen is NOT F2P, there's no mechs needing coding to walk, no buildings to crash land into, and the number of weapons is small. AND, Chris Roberts is getting funding based on his Reputation and he's obviously learning from PGI's community about what NOT to do. Do you think Russ Bullocks or Bryan Eckman will ever be able to do something like CR is? And, expectations for CR for a space based game are not as high as they are with a MW-based game.

If anything, Star Citizen will be an accessible EVE.

It's been painfully apparent for some time that PGI are extremely understaffed to deal with a product of this magnitude. Why they don't make the effort to hire enough hands to deal with it is the real mystery.

As for star citizen, I can't even comprehend how people can compare MWO to SC. Stompy robots are stompy robots, and for better or worse MWO is the only modern game where you can get your fix of stompy robot goodness.
