So all we have to do is tickle the highlander's arm to watch its gauss rifle explode?

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Maybe they'll up the Gauss HP to 10 like other ballistics?

(To be clear, I am aware the Scottish do not actually talk like this. It is a charicature meant to make a more 'larger than life' and interesting character.)

Hate to burst your bubble Garthmiester but some of my relatives from the highlands do talk like that, well not that good, at least I could follow what she was saying. It would have been priceless in Celtic with translation though.

I'm afraid I'll have to buy that mech, even though the paintjob is nothing short of atrocious.

It's a good thing PGI have announced we'll be able to customize hero mechs shortly.

Well, you could just wait and buy regular version...

“Noise? Noise?! Ye glaikit howlin hackit bampot, ‘Ave got somethin’ special for ye, ye mince pap!” She shouted, twin medium lasers raked his torso as he looked up, straight into the legs and feet of a Highlander, in time to watch them crush right through his cockpit.

I cant say that 2 medium lasers is really intimidating...

In fact the entire Gauss, srm6 and 2 medium laser build sounds like a good centurion build, not something belonging to the HIGHLANDER

Don't forget ... in the books they don't use (and have to fight against) cheese builds and respawn for the next match ;).

I've been looking forward to the highlander for a long time - but I think you're on to something here. The hardpoints don't really lend themselves to high-alpha builds from what I can tell. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the mech turns out to be a midpoint between the dragon and atlas offensively.

Think about it... The mech is 90 tons. It's an assault mech with 30 tons on a DRG-1N. It has probably one or two additional energy hardpoints - and that's about it. In order to run at the typical 64kph assault mech speed you'd need to run a 325 engine. If you stick with standards, that's 15 tons heavier than the XL300 that most DRGs run at a minimum. You also lose more weight to structure and armor (assuming you'd take advantage of that), and then you have at least one highlander that'll lose 2 tons for each jump jet it carries. Add that all together and there's really not as much tonnage free as it'd seem at first glance.

One of the reasons the Stalker packs all that weaponry with many of the same disadvantages from size comes down to being strictly missiles and energy weapons. No heavy ballistics to bother with... And the highlander is pretty built around whatever its carrying in that right arm. Should be interesting to see how it all turns out.

This is nothing new.

PGI have already said they will be adding some destructable elements to the environment. They won't however be as dynamic as the video shown.

You guys are missing the LRM20. Maybe they add more Hardpoints maybe they dont. Well see.

The only thing that scares me is the idea of 90ton Hero-Poptarts, 1 Gauss, 3 PPCs, 2SRM for backup? Thats gonna be no fun at all.

You can jump on someone's head with it and kill him by that... more fun than 99% any other mech can pull off. ;)

Hmmmm Just 2 more days!

Too bad it's still about a month before we're supposed to use our own paints to repaint this Hero mech. ;)
