No, it won't the only ones that complain don't know how to play.

I have been taking my Commando into PUG and pre-made matches (Usually less than 3-6 of us and the rest filled with PUGs). and on average I get 1-2 kills, and 3 assists.

I honestly can't tell 100% if I was against pre-mades or not, unless I see some sort of organization.. but even then I use whatever tactics they may have against them and let the other Pugs know where to direct themselves. Thats the job of a scout after all.

I am under the full belief they should NO implement the 4+4 for you whiners. Leran to play the game and work as a team, you can do that even in PUG matches.. !! They should not ruin the game for teams and communities because noobs can't figure out how to play like a team.

Want to stop nija caps by whole teams.. get your scouts out there to scout.

Ask before launch if you have a scout or two and where they are going.. (Its the Y button.. for TEAM CHAT), because if your ninja capped by an Atlas your team deserved to lose. period. Becuase you didnt know use the most basic teamwork.

Yea you got me wrong dude. I have no problems in game, i know how to play, and i communicate with my team. My concern is the fresh meat, the major influx of new players getting ROFLPWNSTOMPED by 6-8 man groups. My concern is the longevity of a game I REALLY enjoy and would love to see prosper for years to come.

Without Matchmaker limitations this will not happen. Period. I'm not gonna argue this point, because the people that are out there pugstomping for the EXPRESS purpose of farming fresh meat are gonna make my point for me. There have not been this many premades on in MONTHS. And they are(mostly)all here now for selfish reasons. It's a feeding frenzy that I truly hope our player base survives.
This needs to be dealt with ASAP.

EDIT: Most of the time i'm the guy that takes command, and on the rare occurrence the whole team is in game and listens to my advice and commands we usually win. And i actually stopped an 8 man ninja cap(not sure what unit) by fighting them at our cap while the scouts went to counter cap. We held them off just long enough to win, and i died IN OUR CAP just before we won. I know what I am doing dude, Don't mistake me for the fresh meat.

It all comes down to this: if new players get stomped continuously for days, most will not be coming back. Some might hail this as something positive since the game will eventually end up being a place where established groups can play with themselves only. Unfortunately, the game won't survive long with such a small player base. New players can be taught teamwork and invited into groups, but this assumes they stick around long enough after getting PUG-stomped continiously. For no other reason then the game's survival, premades must be prevented from PUG-stomping. The exact mechanic for doing that may be debatable, but the urgency of doing this immediately is not.

I chatted with at least four friends from a persistent NWN world (Myth Drannor) who were interested in the Open Beta - after last patch, I got them interested in the game and thought we could team up for a few matches, I could show them the ropes. I did not set up a teamspeak server.

Yesterday, we got together for a few matches.

Match 1: Most of the team was dead within 5 minutes due to LRM fire. Granted, 5/8 had literally logged in for the first time.
Match 2: After some quick MSN chatting, taught them some basic tactics. We went up against a pre-made (they announced it in global immediately) and 4/8 were dead within 3 minutes, again, LRM fire. Myself and another Jenner running an XL300 engine survived and managed to get it down to 2 on 2. Good match, tied.
Match 3: Again talked tactics, went against another pre-made (again announced in Global pre-match). I got cored almost immediately by LRM fire in the river, no spotter. I've run this map many times and suspect a geometry glitch which allowed target lock without LOS. The rest of the team was down within 3 minutes.

Quick talk later with all my baby MWs, they didn't want to continue playing - family and other things, it was pretty late.

However, most weren't enthusiastic to continue and stated pretty much the same thing - the learning curve is too high, and the opposing teams just steamrolled them. It wasn't "new players vs new players", it was like putting up kinder-gardeners with garden tools against MI-6 in full kill-gear.

For the love of god, please fix matchmaking, PGI, and soon. These are FASA fanboi-types, and they were turned off within 3 matches. Most had played MW3 or MW4.

Why is the CN9-AH gone? It was different enough from the YLW, -A, and -AL to justify the variant... I just have to wonder why they chose to remove it.

Perfect example here of what i have been going on about. I haven't been tracking my matches(been having too much fun) but i have kind of had the feeling like 2/3 of my matches are against large groups. We have to remember that the majority of people that come to MWO are NOT going to be competitive players. They are going to be puggers, just hopping on for a few matches a day....if that...and are not gonna want to drop with a unit or go get on TS just to have a quick giant stompy robot fix. Believe me...when CW comes around i will be ALL ABOUT IT!! But we have to realize that us hardcore folk are for now until then, the minority.

Got two of my friends in to try it out. Same as Lanessar, almost. First game actually was not too bad, we got rolled but not steamrolled - they were trying the steering, weapons grouping etc. Also encountering their first heat shutdowns.

Note: we were all pugging, and text-chatting online.

Bit more chatting, answered some questions, and they were all hot and ready to get some combat on. Next 3 games, I did not too badly in my Fatlas, but they each got rolled, rolled hard, and then rolled again. 8-1 and 8-2 games mostly, with a couple 8-0's.

Result: 2 not very impressed friends. Game graphics a bit murky, mechs a bit clunky (expected for a new player), but the deal killer was the super crap MM.

No idea how PGI could have thought this was the way to introduce their game to the general public. "But it's beta!" is a lame excuse that speaks of massive ignorance towards how new players perceive the game.

(Before the replies saying "just team up" roll in, that simply does not address the problem for new players - less than 5% of whom ever even come on the forums. We were testing the 'new player' experience, not the 'lets steamroll PUGs' experience)

It is getting ridiculous when a founders catapult has to go brawling not because he's run out of missiles, but because his own pug teammates don't know how to spot a target for LRMs.

More important.. How do you get the 8/8 basic skills in 3 variants so you can go on to Elite with the Centurion without buying Yen-Lo-Wang?

If they don't release a 3rd variant or reduce the elite pre-req to 2 of 2 variants for the Centurion then you are FORCED to buy Yen-Lo-Wang to progress with that 'Mech class.

I think I remember reading something a couple days ago from one of the devs that said they took it out because it was their test model for YLW but it would be coming back... cant remember when that was.. will have to try and find it again unless someone else remembers better. I only had time to play about three rounds last night. none tonight due to my experience and hoping to see an update here.
I loaded up my Cat with FF armor and Double Heat Sinks. During combat in Forest Colony my Mech hit 100% heat and stayed there for about 30 seconds. Movement became very sluggish and unresponsive. Something I have not experienced in a very long time of testing. I thought it was odd and have hoped that there would be some mention in today's postings.
I'm kinda sad.

Something I've noticed about people complaining about getting steamrolled in games, especially with new guys/gals to the game.

The over riding thing I've seen is that these people believe they can group up without voice comms.

I'm sorry folks, but that is where you are going wrong!

I've been playing this game since about day one of the closed beta and The one thing that makes this game is voice comms...it's why they linked to C3...to help you get into the game.

Now I don't use C3, I used TS3 with the clan I have joined (BBK - check us out at http://mwomercs.com/...owned-operated/)

I took a friend of mine along to play in a group and though he was new to the game, how it plays, etc he did really well....why is his experience different to the ones we see alot? Voice comms....being told where he needs to go and what to do...not slowly with text, but reactive and fast with voice.

By the end of my mates playing time he had managed to at one point top the table for xp on a map or two, had a few cbills under his belt and went away saying he had had a good time.

The moral of this story....?

Voice Comms.

Do the NARC and TAG work now? I remember them only being there as placeholders but havent actually tried them (not willing to spend the c-bills if they don't work). I searched the forum but the search function is FUBAR at the moment.

Expected with the reset. As mentioned in the thread a reminder email would have been nice, but was already communicated last week. A lot of people forgot.

The patch notes state that MC will be reset to 0, then 75% of previously credits earned will be awarded...ya that didn't happen. Not too happy I have to start over again.

That was the previous patch. The transition to open beta was always going to be a full reset (MC being bought with real money is reset because they also take away everything you bought with it)
