ISSUE: Powering Down and abandoning your team

See the cycle? Abandoning your team behavior is becoming more and more. I play this game for fun and I believe dying as I go down fighting and contributing to my team even if PUG. It sucks this game is turning into a c-bill grind taking priority over gameplay.

For some it is considered honorable to let a powered down mech surrender.
Heck it was openly indicated in the novels that when a guy powers down, people consider it unspoken rule that you have surrendered or hostilities have ceased and let you be.

No offense, but when I'm PUGing and my whole team has waddled off in different directions rambo-style to die ... why should I sacrifice myself at the alter of stupid?
When it comes down to the end of the game and my smoking mech is going to be the last one left, I'm certainly going to do my best to stay alive. If that means running off and powering down, so be it. Although since I'm a scout, usually I can just scamper off and outrun them.

While I agree that it's kinda a pain, often times there's very little that one mech would be able to do to change the course of the battle anyways.
Due to the extremely low skill floor and high skill ceiling of this game, most PUG matches are straight 0-8 wins or losses anyways.
Edit: Also, we totally had a guy power down on the opposing team the other day when my premade announced that we were just doing some fraps filming and didn't want to fight. Of course, 7/8 of the of the guys on the other team just walked into our firing line anyways and positively melted. One smart Raven saw what was going on and just shut down.
He was a good sport about it. After we were done filming, we all disconnected to give him the win for being so cool.

I agree with previous replies to your post. Powering down is a completely legal tactic that is highly underused. There are also power down tactics that can be used to avoid being LRM'd to death. Or even used to defeat Streak boats (try powering down and then back up on a streak cat and taking shots between It can be very effective given that they have to acquire lock every time you power up and lose it when powered down )
Also admitting your defeat is honorable, not everyone has the need to go down fighting. Sometimes it just plain makes sense to admit defeat

Also, this is a round-based F2P game, nothing is really at stake; the battle we are in, is just one of dozens a player will play each night - hence individual battles lose any weight or gravity, so again why bother?
put me in a clan vs clan match with territory / mech factories / dropships / resources at stake you'll see a different level of performance.

Ok, your logic seems sound and I can understand that but maybe there is a suggestion to avoid this becoming a trend? If everyone thinks like this, the moment we see 0/3, then should we all scatter and hide and power down?

because gamers are visceral sore winners, you must entertain them with your suicicde charge otherwise you're a coward . If they win through a clear demonstration of superior abilitiy, its not enough; they are only satisfied by literally seeing the opponent team completely crushed because. The most powerful teams know when they've won, and don't need to expend any more effort. If someone powers down and your team is winning by a huge margin - just leg them once and move on; even they wanted to stealth cap they're hobbled now.

FYI there is a problem where a Mech will drop and have a black screen. They are unable to play. So the problem may not be the player but the game. Be considerate and understand the game does sometimes imitate Bad playing.

Yes. Players often say this and that is not an issue. Perfectly understandable. Though these players often just disconnect early in the game

Probably, that's a steep margin to come back from.
