I have been in countless matches now where someone is piloting the yen and they are getting grief for spending cash on it and how bad it is...WHO CARES if someone wanted to (not that they can of course) paint there mech pink does it really matter? I may even buy the yen myself because it has a cool paint job, more money than sense? probably but it still doesn't really matter does it.

Lets just let people enjoy doing whatever they want to do please!

WING THE WANGS!

Yeah, it's totally the old wallet warrior griefing thing.
The have-nots cutting the haves off at the knees.
Peasants are revolting, noble heads roll.
Madame Guillotine is waiting, for your arm...

Arm? YES!

Seriously though. Read the Zombie Wang thread, outfit your wang accordingly, laugh at us when we shoot off the arm with no weapons. Remind us of how many C-bills you will end up with after repairing your core. Kill with medium pulse lasers.

Grief back.

Wait, what about a Zombie Wang?

Also, as I just posted in my other thread, it makes absolutely no sense to grief the wallet warriors. THEY'RE THE REASON FREE PLAYERS HAVE A GAME TO PLAY.

I never really played with the Centurion, mostly because the AH was so ammo dependent, and I didn't like that. But I am actually tempted to try it out now with the Wang as my 3rd variant.

I pilot a yen lo since the begining of OB. Except for the time spent to level the pilot tree. I have rarely noticed anyone comment or attack me for the mech I pilot.

I have been known to throw out the odd:

You got wanged !

If I happen to take down a mech in a close 1v1 situation

I don't dis Wang's, or attack them verbally, I just kill them and leave them in the dust.

I actually think they have a pretty paint job, but at the end of it all it is still a medium.

If you can't take a little ribbing without getting all butt-hurt about it, perhaps the internets are not for you.

I've seen so many YLW it's crazy but never saw anyone griefing them. I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with them unless they felt the YLW was a bad mech and a stupid purchase. It's not like the YLW is OP and annoying to see in the game.

I haven't spent any MC yet but I think you could make a good argument that buying a chassis is the smart thing to do. The chassis is the ONLY thing you can use MC on and you would save millions of CBills for weapons, DHS, etc.

I honestly can't believe that people still don't realize what the issue with YLW is. It's a variant that has no C-Bill alternative. The founder's mechs are all base variants with C-Bill bonuses. That's fine. Even as in inferior variant, YLW violates one of the central tenets of a 100% F2P, 0% P2W game, namely that all equipment be available with in game currency, something that PGI promised in the past. If there was an unskinned, no C-Bill bonus version of C-Bills, there would be essentially zero QQ (Aside from the valid objections to the removal of the Centurion-AH, which PGI would have no motivation to do if they offered a C-Bill YLW variant)

People aren't angry that somebody paid PGI money. If that was the reason, every founder would be flamed just as much. They're angry about what YLW means for PGI's model.

Ribbing is fine, but some of the language i've heard towards wang pilots is a little more than 'ribbing' hence why i felt compelled to say something. Telling someone the're F&*%ing stupid and other idiotic insults for buying it is a bit much wouldnt you say???

Welcome to the world of premium tanks....errrr mechs hehe

I own a Type 59 tank in WoT and don't think I have played one match in that tank without someone giving me grief.

Best thing to do is ignore them.

Of course, at least in MWO, everyone knows Yen sucks Wang so if you own one, you don't have to deal with people claiming your overpowered.

By the title, I thought people were using Yen Lo to grief. I was confused as to how that could be possible. If someone wants to spend Heavy level MC on a Medium, more power to them.

I only ever grief the Yen-lo-wangs for supporting PGI going pay to win.

Can't win in a Mech/tank that's available to everyone I see?

Once properly built the Yen is a fantastic mech.
Here is the build I use:

AC/20 + 4 Tons ammo
2x MPL
AMS + 1 Ton ammo
336/338 Armor
XL 280 Engine
Endo Upgrade
DHS Upgrade

With this build you can go 90.7KPH while beating people to death with the AC/20 and MPLs. You have AMS, Speed, and Full armor to protect you as well. The torso twist is great for killing Jenns and Cicadas with the MPLs, its also difficult for them to get away. It been a very solid killing machine for me. You just have to be careful your AC/20 doesn't get taken off, you can use your torso twist and speed to avoid this.

They're just jealous because they can't afford the boost. Tell them to S T F U.

Wangs aren't pay to win, they tend to be pay to die. They will probably release its varient sooner or later. My big gripe is the "claws". Its just a skin big whup. If your going to bring a buy only mech make some cool cosmetic changes, even if they aren't effective. That thing runs what $13.00, so be a bit more creative.

I've been asked why I bought and drive such a bad mech in matches that I took the YLW. I answered honestly, I didn't want to wait for the CN9-D to be released to be able to unlock Elite on the Centurion. That has always satisfied my detractors, however it has 2 things going against it: first it is a premium mech, and second it is not exactly the best medium mech out there. You can be harassed about driving it for either reason.

For those having issues with the premium just remember in battle, it is arguably the weakest medium mech available, AND MWO needs people to spend money for it to succeed.

For those having issues with it's weak hardpoint configuration, Chill, it's just a game, play to have fun, and remember that the skill behind the cockpit means more than the mech brought. If you lose, chances are very slim it was because somebody on the team was using a YLW.

You're right. It's all about the boost, not combat performance. People that buy it did so for the boost and people upset about it are just jealous of the boost.

Heh, Centurion with an XL. Most Wangs I see have their edges snipped off shortly after leaving their bay.

Anyone who thinks Yen Lo Wang is pay to win is an *****. The HBK-4G can do exactly the same things and has more hard points to play with... same for the HBK-4H. The Yen Lo Wang can't even move it's arm side to side so it doesn't really get any benefit from having the AC/20 arm mounted... in fact it's weaker because of it because it's painfully easy to blow the arm off of it.
