it blows my mind that someone would **** on a paying customer that's making the game free to play for them. I say, "Thank you, Mr. Wang!"

Once properly built the Yen is a fantastic mech.
Here is the build I use:

AC/20 + 4 Tons ammo
2x MPL
AMS + 1 Ton ammo
336/338 Armor
XL 280 Engine
Endo Upgrade
DHS Upgrade

With this build you can go 90.7KPH while beating people to death with the AC/20 and MPLs. You have AMS, Speed, and Full armor to protect you as well. The torso twist is great for killing Jenns and Cicadas with the MPLs, its also difficult for them to get away. It been a very solid killing machine for me. You just have to be careful your AC/20 doesn't get taken off, you can use your torso twist and speed to avoid this.

I have absolutely no clue how you fit this...

AC/20 + 4 Tons Ammo = 18 Tons
2 Medium Pulse Lasers = 4 Tons
AMS + 1 Ton Ammo= 1,5 Tons
336 Armor = 10,5 Tons
XL 280 Engine = 14 Tons
Endo-Steel Internal Structure = 2,5 Tons

= 50,5 Tons

So... where am i wrong?

I bought a wang and it sucks, one AC and 2 lasers hardly enough to take out a normal centurion :) can I get my mc bills back?

I really haven't seen this, beyond the occasional lol-its-a-wang joke. Anyone ******** about "wang is P2W" should really spend some time in any Asian F2P game to see what real P2W looks like.

My preferred build on the wang was put the largest XL engine I could in it and replace the AC/20 with two AC/2s and chain fire them. Rattling their cockpit usually kept the return fire inaccurate and the dps was nice.

I refuse to buy the wang now that OB has started because I feel like it's part of a business model I cannot support. Call it pay to win or don't, I disagree with a model that has game changing aspects that aren't available to non-paying players in a free to play game. It's a bad model. And you can argue all you want about how they can only fit the same weapons and hardpoints are a minor thing blah blah blah. Hardpoints directly affect what you can mount. The YLW is one of only two mechs right now that can do two things. One, it can fit an AC/20 in the arm and two it can fit an AC/20 and an XL engine. The only other mech that can theoretically do this is the raven and it would be completely useless on that chassis.

It's not a particularly potent combination, but it's unique, and the fact that they are willing to put unique attributes behind a paywall is very disturbing to me.

Anyone who argues you can do the same thing on another mech is plain wrong. Currently, it is the only one that can do these two things (aside from the raven which isn't really relevant). Feel free to test on your own. All others have actuators or other factors that get in the way. Even the upcoming centurion variant is likely to have actuators that make the arm mount impossible.

I Love seeing Yen's... Pretty easy kills if ya ask me. Now for everyone crying P2W, you do know theres a Cent variant thats pretty much the same, if not better. It loses one ballistic slot on the arm but gains 3 missile slots on a side torso. So, most of the builds people use with the Yen can be made with that cent variant, even the yens current setup can be recreated by free players.

Though if you want to mount 2 ballistic weapons on the arm for some crazy reason, then ya the yen is the only cent that can do that but you would be gimping yourself and your team by doing that as the arm gets taken off pretty easy. Even then not sure you could even fit 2 ballistic weapons in there that would make the mech effective, its like trying to mount 3 on the dragon cause its got 3 slots on that arm... Good luck getting them to fit.

As for it being worst mech in game, to be honest I love taking the underdog mechs and whooping people woth it. Back in mw4 days my uzi with 2 lbx 10 and 4 medium lasers at 95kph was just a blast to tear up assult mechs. If you know how to use this mech, it can be deadly.

Sounds like me taking the Cauldron-Born D in Mechwarrior 3 for stock games and showing people running the Timberwolf D the ropes on how things are REALLY done.

RogueRAZOR...I am enthralled by this build. I have a YLW and plenty of creds, and simply put, your build is impossible. Unless there's some bug that I have encountered that you have not. I did not build straight to this. I had a 225 XL in there while building credits. Started with 336 Armor, Endo Structure, DHS, 2 MPLS, AMS, 1 Ton AMS, 3 Tons AC20....but simply put, even taking off all extra DHS, using only 1 in the engine, you simply cannot fit a 280 XL at 14 Tons, especially wit 4 Tons of AC ammo. Are you sure this is correct. I can get to AC20, 2 AC20 Tons Ammo, AMS, 1 Ton AMS Ammo, 2 MPLS, 280 XL, 1 DHS in Engine (with Enod Structure of course). This comes to 49.5 Tons. You sure those are pulse lasers? Or am I bugges somehow because I had a middle build.

Not bad but you can no longer be a zombie. IE this mech is so survivable with standard engine its insane. I have literally been down to a CT, head and 1 leg and stills cored a kill and lived the match. The XL to me is not worth it. The endo steel I already did in mine and the DHS are on order.

That said I paid cash, and I bought this mech. No one has given be hell about it yet. But to be honest its not the best mech out there. So anyone who gives me hell about it really just don't get it. This mech in no way can be considered a play to win mech. Its been implemented in a such a way that I get something different but besides the extra cash, I get no real in game advantage.

Also, the ac20 has been entertaining me more then I figured it would. one game I got 4 kills with it. But its also fun when a jenner dose not realize I am there, comes up behind me and stops and presents his back to me. Just as the guy started to move away in a straight line form me, I fired the ac20. His already damaged RCT crumpled under the shot and he just fell forward cored out wondering what the hell was that.

I almost had this exact same thing happen to me, except it was my leg, to turn around and see a YLW standing behind me.

I honestly can't believe that people still don't realize what the issue with YLW is. It's a variant that has no C-Bill alternative. The founder's mechs are all base variants with C-Bill bonuses. That's fine. Even as in inferior variant, YLW violates one of the central tenets of a 100% F2P, 0% P2W game, namely that all equipment be available with in game currency, something that PGI promised in the past. If there was an unskinned, no C-Bill bonus version of C-Bills, there would be essentially zero QQ (Aside from the valid objections to the removal of the Centurion-AH, which PGI would have no motivation to do if they offered a C-Bill YLW variant)

People aren't angry that somebody paid PGI money. If that was the reason, every founder would be flamed just as much. They're angry about what YLW means for PGI's model.

um you mean pay to lose right zombie wang has 280 std and for lolz i added 2 mach gunz but it sucks I ONLY USE IT TO BE ANNOYING!! atleast i think it was the original concept of meds lol

They're offering 99% of the game for free, and the other 1% doesn't help you win. What a terrible, abusive, disrespectful model to present to us.

I am going to support MWO with my money. I don't want the YLW, but I am sure there will be hero mechs I want and if someone messes with me they get the horns. MWO plays surprisingly like previous MechWarrior games. All the tricks work the same in MWO.

If players have a complaint, tell PGI.

I have seen many of these hero 'mechs in matches and not once have I seen anybody bashing on them for spending MC on that 'mech for any reason what-so-ever. Obviously it is indeed happening & that isn't a good thing, people in a bad mood do that crap to bring others down. Need to be careful about how they word the making fun of another player in that particular 'mech...

Are you saying we shouldn't be suckers for slamming on other people's Wang?

Because when you are that fast, use torso twisting to spread dmg around, and good tactics in how/when you fight you end up with a mech that is more capable then one without an XL.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can totally see an XL YLW with dual med/med pulse and an ac20/gauss as a threat....especially if it is acting as a support mech/hit and run type mech during the battle.

Plus the way you play those mechs just suits some people's play style better. I ran fast atlas brawlers before the engine restrictions and actually did better then with my standard engine brawlers with dual uac5/srm6's, or gauss/uac5 combos (they all had lasers too, and alphas over 70 dmg with decent heat), basically some of the best brawler builds that you could/can do.
