I played maybe 30 matches today. And in 5 of them (I kept track) I was shot by my own team. Purposely... Only retaliated once. Does any else DO it and why? Anyone victims of it?

I've never witnessed teamkilling in all my time spent betaing. I play in windowed mode and sometimes when i'm tabbed out i'll fire my weapons clicking back in : /

I was walking away in 4/5 incidents, and I wasn't in anyone's way (like people sometimes just shoot randomly when the match starts or they are setting weapon groups) I was actually a good 100 Meters away before I was shot. No accident. No one said sorry. I just saw a mech' turning away from me.

Over the course of several thousand games which i played so far, the only time i was obviously killed by a teammate was by a Goon then again i was not really angry at him and to my knowledge they don't do it anymore (it happened WAAAY back early in the Closed Beta).

But i've noticed several times since the Open Beta start that tensions are firing up between new players to the point where they start shooting at eachother however usually there was a conflict over some misfire or something not just randomly shooting at people.

Every time I play a game against a certain merc corps, they offer to shut down and let my team win if someone on my team will TK me.

I'm not naming names because that would just draw them in here, but no one's ever taken them up on their offer so it doesn't bother me.

I did not see anything like this in my time in Closed Beta. Not Friendly fired once. Not at all. Now Open Beta is here in 5/30 matches I have been PERSONALLY bet attacked 5 times. Personally...

Had a match on forest colony yesterday where someone unloaded Lasers and SRM into my back. I turned around and looked at the Raven, which kept firing on me until I was dead.

Aside from that, only a few scratches here and there when it gets hectic...

Just had a game with a teamkiller. First he killed someone else right on from the start, then he was shooting at me and I finally died in combat with another atlas (him fireing me in the back).

I think we can assume intent here ...

Im normally alt tabbed but when i go back to the game i normally mouse click (being forgetful that it fires my guns) on the game and in turn ends up firing my guns. Sometimes i hit people sometimes i dont, i dont mean it :) just have to remember to use the middle mouse button when im alt tabbed and want to get into the game.

I've been hit by a lot of accidental shots, and have hit people by accident. I just apologize and move on. It's just a game anyways, a new one at that, everyone is trying to learn it, and **** happens, no big deal.

Now that it's open beta, and it's a F2P game, there will doubtless be TKers. It's hard to combat also; really annoying and unfortunate. PlanetSide 2 may suffer from similar problems.

I totally understand accidents. And most of the time you can see who is doing on purpose. On accidents, lasers will veer away rather stay in place, the person doing it try's to get them off of me. And I will see the rest of the 1 seconds burst or so above me or beside. But these were all intentional. I get hit in battle and ignore it. My fault for walking infront of the enemy. But guys these are in none of these situations. "Purposely".

Planetside 2 has a clever system in place that locks players guns and vehicles that they drive. They can't fire for a period of time after hitting other players on their side. You have to really go out of your way to do this though. Mechwarrior Online has no such system in place to combat Team Killers and that is why it is going to be an issue in MWO as the server population increases. Pirhana Games needs to find a way to punish TK's,

I think the largest concern is not the friendly fire but the actual Team Kills. We're in large slabs of walking metal ... few can alpha strike and drop another that easily even from the rear (not impossible but not easy so don't post your bragging attempts) ... For a teammate to actually focus fire on you until you are dead speaks volumes - read: not an accident. I have also been in here since mid-closed beta and witnessed/been a victim of few friendly fires and NEVER seen a team kill (except some friends messing around). Since Open Beta I've seen at least five TKs in the pugs ... luckily I've avoided being a target but I have witnessed them along with the chat rants afterwards of "wtf" and "why??".

So why TK??? Does it help the farmers? Are they taking the view it accelerates the game time? It may ... by a minute or so but not by much ... if that's the stance, then they really haven't thought this out much. Their methods could probably be fine tuned with other tactics to reduce game time.

There are only two other reasons I can fathom: Griefers and ignorance. It is hard to combat griefing ... its a bit of an accepted challenge that is inherited by all online games ... too many people with power/control issues given animosity but that research is for another discussion. The "Ignorant", however, could be (I'm stretching on this one but trying to be hopeful) people that just do not know they start on a team in the game, spawning as a group ... they drop and begin firing at the first mech they see believing it an enemy. I would HOPE they comprehend their mistake so as not to TK or repeat the incident.

TKs are just ... odd in this game ...

And so unapologetic about it, can you imagine?

Well, more to the point, I've never witnessed a purposeful TK, ever - perhaps they're targeting specific 'Mechs or users...?

It happens...not a lot...but it does happen. I've had a few matches where they literally chased down multiple members of our team to TK. I can tee ppl off, so I wouldn't be suprised if I have some enemies..lol..but when one jag goes off on the wole team, it's obviously not a grudge thing. I actually think it's a PuG farming thing...quicker team looses...quicker the trial mech is available for use again.

I know exactly who you are talking about and it's the most hilarious thing ever.
