This has most likely been brought up before but I haven't seen any topics about it as long as I've been here and I think this issue is big enough to have a hot topic that catches the devs eyes.

There is nothing more depressing than seeing your cb's stay at about the same or even decrease after you have played several games. I find myself in this problem all the time. I play many games with my owned mechs and at a bad night my cb's have gone down quite a bit. And a good night they have stayed about the same.

I want to play with my own custom mechs but it seems as soon as you have modified your mech, the repair bills sky rocket. I'm losing 80-120k for every game I die. At a good win you get around 140-150k, at a loss you get around 80k. So no wonder I'm not making any cb's in this damned game.

Because of this I have to put in ton of games with the trial mechs to earn any cb's. I thought the big idea with trial mechs is to get the newbies try them out and then decide what mech to buy, but they aren't that now are they. The trial mechs are your only way for a consistent cb income.

I want to play with my own mechs and feel good about it ******** it. Reduce repair costs or increase game rewards.

Play a cheaper mech. You can also save CB by not rearming, as you get 75% of your ammo back for free.

The rewards don't scale well. Part of the problem is that repairs scale with Mech weight and equipment used while rewards don't scale at all. Why does an Atlas pilot get paid as much as a Jenner? If you brought a bigger Mech, you should naturally get paid more, especially when you have to pay more yourself for repairing it. They need to scale rewards with Mech weight and equipment used; not just have a flat system. If repairs scale according to what you brought to the field... so should rewards.

I thought I was being clear that people should be able to play their own mechs. You are suggesting what already is the situation; play some crappy (trial) mech that you don't want to just to earn cb's.

Yes, that's always the solution to when the earnings side of the economy is borked. Let's all run Commandos that use only lasers since it's the only profitable option. It's a lot like telling someone working a low paying job to work as a pan handler since the pay is much higher.

Agree with this. It shouldn't be more profitable to stay in trial mechs, at the very least there should be no difference.

its perfect... ( if they take back in missle damage .. i miss those cbills )

its just not true that you dont earn cbills.. you can do it right now with every mech.

"My" mech is a CN9-AL, with Endo steel and DHS. It uses missiles, yet has a max repair/rearm bill of 75k. It literally can't lose money.
I have an XL Cicada that has a max repair of 80k.
I have a XL/ES/DHS Jenner with a max repair of 110k.

Now, I do have premium, so I don't have to worry as much, but if I didn't:
I can lose money on my jenner.
I will always make money on my cicada, unless I do nothing but die in a match and lose.
I will always make money in my Centurion, no matter what.

All it takes is making a mech you enjoy that's not expensive to run. You don't need streaks, artemis or 60 LRMs to win or have fun.
Play with your cheap mechs when you are low on cash, your expensive ones when you have some built up. If you are really broke, use a trial mech.
The AWS-8t is actually pretty powerful if you know what you are doing.

Besides, even when you are flat broke, you mech is repaired to a useable state for free. Embrace the challenge.

Not anymore you dont down to 25%.

Honestly pay outs, and repairs need to be tweaked either 10% up or 10% for rearm etc. This might be a different story now with the Premade changes so less likely to be stomped.

Didn't see that in the patch notes, and haven't gotten home to play. Can anyone confirm this?

Hopefully, these 4-man teams makes it so you don't get stomped as hard in a pug.

I actually think that PUGs are getting stomped a lot more now.

It's simple really.
If your mech is too expensive for you to maintain, play a cheaper one.
Use the cheap one to build up money to run your expensive one.
Alternatively you can sell your expensive one to buy a lower cost one, or find a configuration that costs less money to run.
You can also use the free 75% rearm to save money.
You can even forgo repairing your mech completely, as no matter what it is repaired to a usable state for free.
Are you handicapped, yes. Will that let you save up money while using your own mech? yes.

You can also support that game and buy premium time.
