Did some drawing today, Memorial Day. A Stalker and a Champion

Outstanding. And someone did a Champion? I love you forever.

I fell in love with it in MW3 (my first ever battletech/mechwarrior experience), and I always felt like whoever made the TROs and drew it just did it as a filler mech, and never cared about it too much. I'm glad to see it getting some quality love.

Eff. I know it's been said to death, but, dammit, you are a talented man.

You bet he is. Wonder if he would be able/willing to start a BT comic book short...

Excellent work.

While I think they Marauder is not an improvement, that's not because it's a bad design. It's just that the original Marauder is a really neat mech, and is a tough thing to improve. But you did an excellent job. I think it's as good as the original.

The rest look better than the originals, nicely one.

Others are complaining that your Stalker doesnt hold true enough to the original. I agree with them, however, I think yours is a massive improvement over the classic. That thing looked like they took a B-29 fuselage, replaced the wings with missle pods, and threw it on a pair of legs. Just awful.

The champion looks awesome, i would love rolling around the battlefield in something like that. The devs shoul pay attention to some of your designs. It might provide some inspiration for including mechs where there might a a bit of a legal issue. If they do hopefully you are rewarded in some way. Also you should redo the warhammer. I know it isnt in need of a facelift, but it may not appear in the game and I have always liked it.

I want to point something out, a trend I've noticed in this thread. Anyone else see how consistent this work is? Rudy, your designs are impressive, but what really interests me is that they're all rather mechanically workable. One can look at any of these and see them moving, as machines should move.

The only downside is that there is no hint of a manufacturer's uniqueness. Your Charger and Hollander could have come from the same manufacturer. You know what I mean? A Dodge Charger is the visible might of that company, and no one else could have made one. It's unique that way. A Locust was originally made by Bergan Industries, a now-dead company but founded in Star League times by English-speaking engineers. The Hollander was built by Defiance Industries, many many light-years away, and centuries later, by German-speaking engineers with a completely different mindset. Your versions look like the same company made them.

Argh, don't think I want to be critical, you are still my favorite BTech artist, bro. Oh, and I have a new 3D model of the Lord's Light PPC I wanted to send your way. Be harsh.

Very valuable feedback, Lyon! Thanks. I knew of different manufacturers for the mechs but it didn't occur to me to give them their own styles. I'll consider this for my future work. It seems so obvious now that you pointed it out.

Shortpainter, I love your work. Very strong, clean lines. That Champion sketch in particular is sexy.

What software do you use?

You should add more pictures to your website. Some of the stuff you've posted on this forum should be included there.

Put that Marauder's AC/5 on a turret above the center torso and it's golden.
Not that it has to look exactly the same-it doesn't, but the turret for the AC/5 is mentioned in the lore and thus I believe it should be represented as such.

Wow... monumentally impressive. I think most of these are easily in the running for my favorite versions of the given particular Mech... including the art from the games, TRO's, etc. I guess it just goes to show... the folks who will do the best at something are generally the ones having the most fun with it.

I've long been a fan of the Locust, and I thought your version of it was particularly sweet. I'd prob'ly even trade my '87 MR2 for a real one of those. Yours is spot on, and I just thought... yes! That's it! That's what the Locust really looks like!

Nice work. Personally I'm not a fat of the Charger but your version of it looks good. :)
All of these pics are very good.

I really love how you mix the feel of the old tech readouts and a newer anime/crisper style :)

Can't wait to see how you make the Crockett look cool.

Great rendering. I do want to point out, however, that it DOES look kind of like a Pack Hunter (seen below).

Another sketch from back in the day. I had grand plans of re-designing every mech in the 3025 technical readout. Or at least updating them for a more modern look. I did quit a few. Here is the Charger with more realistic joints than the original art. I always wondered why one of the small lasers on the Charger was a hand held pistol. Heheh, oh well...

Great Charger! (but I never understood what's up with that pistol the Charger has)
