Nothing I can really do about it though. I just hope it doesn't come and get so stupid that it drives me away from the game. Would really be a lose for me.

I love all these whiners about keeping the game realistic and "sim" like when they are using a keyboard and mouse to play the game.
Where in Battletech canon does it state that Mechwarriors used keyboards and mice to pilot their Battlemechs??
If there is a Forced First-Person mode I want a Forced Joystick mode. I don't want to play against FPS noobs who prefer keyboard and mouse. I want to play against hardcore, joystick players.

actually the consensus seems to be that it is impossible to create an unexploitable 3pv, that the only reason antbody wants it is to get an unfair advantage and avoid putting in the time and effort required to actually learn to play the game, if you believe otherwise, well, your entitled to your opinion, along with the other 1 in 25 who feels the same way as you, you'll find them crouched just below the crest of a hill peeking over it with thier 3pv.

Do we all need to e-mail PGI to request that you DON'T do it? Would that help you any? I'm willing to bet we can get a pretty good e-mail campaign going if that is what moves you guys.

Look, there are plenty of ways to make a third-person camera work without affording an unfair advantage. You could simply not display anything that you couldn't detect from first-person. You could make it a module unlock, a sort of UAV (which could perhaps be shot down?) that floats above and behind your machine.
The point is, PGI probably gets that we don't want to enable corner-peeking with the third-person camera. We've made it abundantly clear (and for the record, I'm solidly against it) that we don't like the idea. Now, we let PGI tell us what they're planning to do, and then we judge from there.
