Does anyone get passed over, screened out, denied, for a BETA invite? According to the response from Dev, Russ Bullock, to the post below, the answer is "no."

Just saw a post mention a Rejected button, guess i should be glad i'm still pending then ^^
Just went to verify and nope, no rejected or denied status button...

With the exception of the questions relating to being able to sign the NDA, there are not any 'wrong answers' in the beta application, so they would have no reason to say 'nope, you're denied'.

leave it 'pending' until it can get changed to something positive (accepted, or invited, or whatever) and you get the same result without risking a customer feeling bad and leaving.

My apologies. It is a rhetorical question for the purpose of generating topic interest. Probably too much marketing mindedness in my thoughts.

I've seen someone else mention that jokingly in another topic of yours, and I understand there are a lot of questions, but why not sit back and chillax for once?
It doesn't seem like we're going to get more info than we have, and there is really no point in going crazy about this whole buisiness if all you can really do is wait...

I am not sure if it occurred to you, but you are free not to read my posts. I am sure you can find other things to do with your time besides reading my posts and coposing responses complaining about them.

I don't know about that. I think what Russ is saying is that they are not any rejections. It appears from his staement that they are simply picking in batches as they become ready to add more players.

Still don't think it's worth, or healthy to worry too much about the whole situation...
I also thought it might be worth suggesting a rejected-button, but then you could as well just ignore the pending sign until it turns to accepted, in which case;
good for you!

My guess is that they set some criteria for the first round of beta testers. Probably people with similar PCs, since they want to iron out technical bugs first. Probably with similar playing and testing experience. The actual testers are probably randomly selected from within the group of people who meet the criteria.
As the beta expands, they'll want to add people with a variety of PC configurations. Both low end and high end, different processors, OS versions, graphics cards, etc. To make sure the game will run smoothly for everyone at launch.
Once the technical side is ironed out they'll probably want people with a variety of experience playing games like this, and different levels of experience with battletech. This is for play testing and some balancing.
The last step will be an open beta for load testing on the servers, catching last minute bugs and balancing issues.

I was mainly just trying to reassure some of those folks that are worrying about it. I try not to worry about anything. No sense in worrying about the things we have no control over.

I know I can bypass it easily, but I reckon it's only a couple months until Gold so I'm not too arsed about it.
Besides, buying into one of their Founders packages might change their mind

That's an easy problem to solve. I have Norton too. All you have to do is right click the Norton Icon in your system tray and select "Disable Anti-Virus Auto-Protect." Disable it for 15 minutes and run the System Profiler, then enable it after.

- Yes, we have criteria.
- Yes, you are added in batches based on those criteria.
- No, I can't tell you the criteria being used for obvious reasons.
- No, you ill never see a rejected button. Jeeez that's just mean.
- Yes, everyone is a potential beta tester.
- Selections are 100% random if you meet the criteria.

See, method to the madness. just say "serenity now" and be glad for those who are being selected. Not too much longer we will all be playing.

I was listening to an EVE Online podcast, and I heard that Mittani, probably the most famous EVE player and CEO of the most powerful corp in EVE had a beta key. That got me thinking they are probably sending keys to people like this first. It makes sense. People who arnt neccessarly part of the press, but people listen to.
The fact that Mittani was even talking about MW:O on a EVE podcast is a massive plus for the devs of MW:O. Now an entire set of people that may have never heard of MW:O now have, and on top of that they heard someone with a lot of "respect" saying how awesome it is.
It would make a whole lot of sense for them to be sending out keys to people like this first. Get the word out, get people excited.
I personally dont think there is anything wrong with this, but I also think people should know in case you are just an average joe, hitting refresh on you mailbox ever 30 seconds.
Discuss.
