firstly if i was one of the devs and i heard the mittani got a key i would have made sure that d-bag got his revoked immediately he is a poor representation of the player community as a whole and a complete jackass to boot

I'm sure he's wiping his butt with the NDA right now as he describes the game in detail with screenshots to every one of the goonie baby spam bots on their channels.

Only thing Goons are good for is salvage and a pod kill.

Please don't turn this into a goonswarm sucks thread. That was not my intent. I play EVE, but I am indifferent to Mittani and Goonswarm. My only intent for this thread was to show, if I am right, the ingenious thinking behind the MW:O marketing. However I'm probably wrong anyways, but some people are taking this a bit too seriously.

I can understand you intentions but what the guy did was wrong...breaking a simple agreement that he agreed to is wrong.. As for the marketing aspect the game will get some serious love once it is in open beta stage.. imo the guy was just showing off and nothing more ;)

I love how anytime someone mentions or implies the Goons, it quickly turns into /popcorn time.

I'll give those guys props for that because their antics are always entertaining.

I played Eve for 4 years. I quit after realizing that I was never having fun. Eve is very simplistic: older players beat younger players; more players beat fewer players. No skill, all numbers. Combat in Eve is decidedly inferior to MW.

I am very discouraged that MWO devs would be seriously listening to Mittani who is, let's face it, a pro griefer. A substantial amount of his efforts in Eve have been to make the game less fun to a "care bear" player subsets. And anyone who lives in hi-sec, I suppose.

Prior to this tread, I had not considered that there should be limits in place to keep merc factions in check. I am very glad at this point that MWO will not have an economic system similar to Eve.

This would allow people to game the system and figure out exactly what they are looking for, ultimately resulting in many people lying to get in, and PG not getting what they are looking for in testers.

Uh, and people are not doing that now?

I am sure that dozens of beta testers have already told their friends "hey, this is what i entered in my beta profile and i got into the beta", who then proceeded to enter exactly the same information.

Beta testers are already posting screenshots of the beta on the net (with no names or other identification in them for obvious reasons).

  • Yes, we have criteria.

  • No, you ill never see a rejected button. Jeeez that's just mean.

I must respectfully disagree, sir. I would strongly prefer to be notified that I do not meet the criteria, than sit here for two months hoping and waiting on something that will never happen. Shoot straight with me skipper, I'm a big boy, I can handle rejection. ^_~

As a guy who has NDA with other game (World of Tanks) let me tell you something.

1. You CAN say you have NDA/Beta key. It's not breaking NDA.
2. You CAN say the game/new contents is good/bad. It's not breaking NDA.
3. You CAN'T say exactly what contents/tanks/whatever is good/bad. It's breaking NDA.

ie. Revealing the contents being tested (screenshot of anything, or anything secret) is equal to breaking NDA, while only mentioning that you got beta key and the game rocks/sucks isn't.

It's free advertising for the game, and we'll need all the fresh meat they can muster for our guns to rend. So i'm fine with him mentioning it, it'll help bring money to the devs. As for it breaking NDA.... if him mentioning it is enough for you to get your knickers in a knot, then you really need to find some alternative to calm yourself down since it would seem your not in the beta.

It is what it is. I've never made it into a beta for a game I've wanted to play, no matter how much I've loved it or knew its lore by heart. Murphy's Law is what it is.

Plus the devs wouldn't like my bug reports asking where the keys are to activate my mechs external speakers so I can broadcast Ride of the Valkyries or some Jaws music while I fight other mechs.

You might be indifferent to goons but I'm not. I helped send them packing from SWG which is where they were before Eve. They are a cancer on any game. You want the people with deep pockets to leave, let goon have free reign.

You've obviously never played EVE Online.

Mittens, a.k.a. The Mittani, is a pompous, conceited, self-righteous douchebag whose asshattery knows no bounds. He is the head of a group of losers in EVE Online who call themselves Goons. They are tactically inept griefers, and focus on the ability to blob their enemy to death (victory only through FAR superior numbers). Mittens was recently temporarily banned by CCP because of something he said, publicly, on camera no less, at the EVE Online Fanfest this year.

Did he take his punishment like an adult? No, he didn't...he acted like a spoiled brat, and declared a 'Burn Jita' event, where the Goons would occupy the busiest system in EVE Online, en masse, (and shoot any players they found there) in an attempt to overload and crash the server. I was in a W-space system at the time, but from what I've read, the Jita node of the server did crash more than once that night.

Another example: they tried to ruin the EVE Online economy by killing all the ice miners they could find. They weren't doing it for profit. They weren't doing it to get some good fights (we're talking defenseless mining barges here). They did it purely in an attempt to crash the in-game market, just because they thought they could (they failed, but they managed to screw it up pretty badly).

In Star Trek Online, they discovered that, if they invited players from the opposite faction to their bridge, these players could never leave. So, they did it en masse, and killed them repeatedly. It took two GM's getting involved to force them to stop, since they did not stop when asked. This was within a week or two of launch.

I personally don't care what they do in EVE Online, simply because it's EVE. You never trust anyone unless you live close enough to go smack them if they screw you over. You assume everyone will kill you if they have the chance, and you assume everyone is trying to scam you, until you can prove that they're not. That's just the way EVE is. The problem is that they bring this behaviour to other games where it doesn't belong.

Long story short, Goons (and, by extention, Mittens) play online games with the express intent of griefing the players. With EVE Online being the only game whose devs actively support griefing, it's obvious why they flourish there. I can only hope the MWO devs take quick action once the Goons find a way to start griefing the MWO players.

depends on the language of the NDA. In this case the devs have stated that you are not allowed to admit you are in the beta. Period paragraph.

The NDA for each game is unique, and written by the companies developing/distributing the game. Some may not be against this, while others may. The devs of MWO have actually stated that it IS against the NDA for the MWO Closed Beta to mention whether or not you are in.

This is the kind of advertising that MW:O doesn't need. That person should have their beta privileges revoked and given to someone more competent.

blah blah

Complaining like that in a sandbox game tut tut.

Also speaking of blobbing, other entities do that too. They only complain when THEY get blobbed, while they chest beat when they get to blob.

Hi. I'm the battle commander of one of the top World of Tanks clans. Coincidentally, we're also one of the SA clans. We are coming to this game. We are going to most likely shred you like we do in World of Tanks. It's gonna happen. Complaining about groups in video games is silly, it will do nothing but draw those groups to you, perpetuating a vicious cycle of horrible stomping. Let it slide.

Your observations is as amazing as saying **** brown.

EVE is, in general 30+ age group, which means they lived through MW games.
In EVE just say MWO in local and you will get over half the local making comments,

Has nothing to do with Mittani, you stupid goonie troll.
