Excellent tool, thanks to all involved! I love the simplicity of being able to bookmark different builds. Now if only we could import them into the Mechbay... :)

Definitely should be stickied.

Less stuff and bit more color to make it simple.

I like the idea, wonder how hard it would be to implement it.

ps: seems like smurfy released a new version with some minor changes and didn't tell anyone about it :P

Great tool, I'm loving it. I was considering putting something like this together, but I'm lazy, and not great at UI design so it wasn't ever going to happen. Thanks!

You now also can remove weapons and equipment by clicking the x (known issue, you cant remove heatsinks in the engine slot using this method yet)

You may be thinking this already, but rather than just make the "X" work on the engine, it would be pretty cool if there were "+" and "-" buttons instead so we could just add/remove engine heatsinks without actually dragging them into the engine.

Also, it's probably been suggested (I didn't read the previous 10 pages), but it would be awesome if I could drag a component from one location on my mech to another. Right now, it seems like I have to delete from one location and re-add it in another.

Same here, and I'm not skilled enough, thats why I am so glad that smurfy actually put this together.

Yes, it has been suggested before, and It would be nice to have.
Smurfy told me that it is a little problematic thought, he would have to change quite a bit to make it happen, so it's on the list, but does not have the highest priority.

What I would like to see personally is a way to search for builds in the database using lots of stats (i.e. show me all Atlas-D-DC, with 95-100tonns used, std. engine 250-320, srm).
I'd also like a way to register on the site (but not mandatory) to be able to have all my builds in a list and add other linked builds to it.

Have used your Statspage for weeks now, loving it and passing it on. The new Mechlab is DA BOMB !!! Been waiting for this ( webbased, accurate ) and was wondering why PGI didnt come up with it. I actually think they should endorse your page and pay you for it :P.

Few questions:

How/where are the loadouts stored ? Is there a way to check Database entries ? Do databse queries ?
Cooling efficiencey, what does it mean ? Meaning, what does it reflect/how is it calculated?

I also second Blarks idea of optional registering to be able to store personal loadouts.

I store my loadouts locally in the form of bookmarks. Click save loadout, close the popup, then bookmark the page. Rename the bookmark as appropriate, save it in a folder (such as "Mechlab") and you can pull up both that build and, of course, the mechlab any time.

I think he meant on the servers side :P
They are stored in a database of course, each unique load-out gets an id-hash (i.e. no redundant data).
Forgot the exact format they are being stored in though

ps: I do it the same way you do right now ;)

Sorry for not reading the entire 12 pages, so it could be mentioned before: I noticed It's not possible to select ECM in Commander-2D. Bug or wishful thinking? :D

Edit: Weird, I just managed to get it in. Not quite sure what went wrong previously (probably user error), but it works fine now.

BTW: Great tool! Thanks for your work!

Great work mate - really useful tool.

As a feature request (which may have been flagged already) - could you add a "cost calculator" that shows the base chassis cost, and then totals up the cost of the changes you have made from stock?

This would be very useful to share builds for new players to work towards, and show them how many C-Bills they'd need to grind to afford it.

The two questions I hear most from friends who have only recently taken up the game are "can you show me a good mech build to work towards" and "how many c-bills do I need to build it". Your tool covers the first one perfectly (just send them a link) and it would be great if you could add the second as well!

It would be useful indeed, the problem is that c-bill costs seem to be loaded from the server (none has found them in the game files at least afaik), which means that someone would have to create a cost list for everything manually (and keep it up2date) or get them from the games memory.

Quick Cosmetic suggestion. Make the Armor tweaking buttons more like buttons with visual feedback.

I'd love to see some more derived stats somewhere on the page (aka, time to shutdown, dps that sort of thing), but this works great for now.

Honestly, this Mechlab puts the one in-game to shame.

Yup. I design mech loadouts here, then wince when I have to go deal with the horrid UI of the ingame one. Such a PITA to switch between different locations and such, hard to see everything that's going on at once.

"Did I remove all the heatsinks from my other arm? Maybe I left some ammo in my foot? Wait, did I add ammo at all?"

Thanks for the hint. Came to my mind just after I had posted the question XD.

Would be nice. Click the equipment list on the right, then click the location, if drag and drop can't work nicely there.

Hello!
I regularly use your Mechlab, and I can't thank you enough for providing the community with such a valuable tool. Keep up the great work! :P
Also, I see we just got a new "Cooling efficiency" stat: that's great, now we have an actualy way to measure heat stability...but what does the percentage represent, exactly? Does it mean that at 100% it's heat neutral?

EDIT: After just a couple minutes of fiddling, I think I can confirm that yes, a 100% means that your mech will effectively stay heat stable when constantly firing all weapons. Now, is there any chance that we can eventually get checkmarks for masteries/different maps' heat levels? You know, for us min-maxers out there. :)
