It is a band of yellow. Tilting the y-axis up and down allowed me to see a sliver of clear view above and below the band of yellow. Possible graphic artifact from startup sequence?
The very next game, also on Frozen, I had a clear view but no controls and no BattleMap/Radar. After about fifteen seconds, controls came back but no radar/battlemap for the remainder of the game.

I have seen this screen on other players while spectating often, not to say it is what they see though.

1) Dying
2) Entering spectator mode
3) Switching to a second or third spectator (relative to the one I am shown by default)
The workaround for me has been to spectate someone else, and switch back to the pilot that I am trying to spectate.

Was able to chat and see my chat, as well as system messages of deaths, but either no one was talking or i couldnt see others' chat.
Pressing tab brought up the team score menu which would make the yellow filter go away, but it would come back when I let go of tab.
I had played several games that session before it happened.

This issue did not occur for me until after I had reinstalled the game on recommendation from GM to try to solve all the CTDs I've been getting since this patch. After reinstalling the game, I have experienced it in perhaps half of my drops. Just finished 3 drops in a row with the yellow screen. After the first two, I restarted my client, but still got the yellow screen bug. On normal drops, in the 'Waiting for Players' screen, the screen will flash yellow with wide horizontal bands like on a monitor, but then the yellow goes away. With the bug, the yellow+ bands stays, obscuring hud, radar, and targeting. I can click R, and apparently lock targets, but have no way of knowing I'm locked unless a dead teammate spectating me tells me so. Spectator view on me is normal, I am told.
It has occurred on River City, Forest Colony, Frozen City and Caustic Valley. So far, not on Winter Forest Colony.

Since the last patch I've played a little bit every night, at least 8 or 10 drops, and never encountered the yellow screen.
Last night, I played 8 drops, and got yellow screened on 4 out of the 8.
Same 'Mech, same weapons, same specs, same everything.
The only difference? Last night I was grouped with 3 other players and using Mumble for voice comms. All the other nights, when I never encountered the yellow bug, I was PuGing without comms.

I believe the bug to be HUD related, in that the HUD fails to load part way through. The yellow screen can be observed on each drop just before the HUD loads. It quickly changes into the HUD we know.
When the bug appears, bringing up the team overview will clear the screen, just as right shift + F11. If disabling the HUD also disables the yellow screen, they are obviously related in some way.
If it happens again, I will try if I can find something in the omicron.log file.
