Interesting thing: My CPU is maxed out but my GPU doesnt go above 50-60% utilization. Before the patch my CPU was 70% and my GPU utilization was close to 100%.
I've dropped all in game settings to LOW and no change in FPS or stuttering gameplay.

And better compression usually means more CPU power needed for decompression which could be the cause of our problems.
I was thinking the same, does anyone know if we unpack the .pak files in place of the original level files, will it run. I remember this was a problem in other games, the decompression of game files used up so much power, that the game would have major performance issues. A workaround was to unpack those files and it usually worked. Anyone tech savvy enough to see if this will work?

Yea that could actually be it, in the performance feedback thread people are saying cpu usage increased a lot this last patch.
Can anyone with a quadcore check this please:

It's certainly Dual Core processor related - Having the most powerful graphics card / ram / ssd in the world won't solve it.
Tested with Q6600 Processor (Quadcore)- Running at 30fps on average at lowest possible settings.
4 Cores - 50-69% use...... and Yes, it uses all 4 cores.
So I Set affinity on the mechwarrior process (MWOClient.exe) to 2 cores (Simulating a dual core cpu).. FPS Instantly dropped down to 4-10 & the CPU was 51% used (CPU - was totally maxed out)
(Just so I don't have to point it out - 50% would be 100% CPU usage when only using 2 of 4 cores)
Anyone with quad cores, feel free to try the same via task manager > Processes > Right click, Set Affinity & uncheck 2 cores & apply...... No doubt will get the same results.
Update - Tested on my i7 Quad core processor and it seems fine even on dual core mode - but the i series processors are very strong compared to previous generations, so if anyone tries it on an i series & says I'm talking rubbish you know why

NOW i get 44-50 in menü falls down to 20 if i have other small window aktiv (means MWO need to be highlighted whole time to stay at 44-50 frames)
INGAME i have something around 22-27 frames at start while moving it drops down to 12-8 frames when moving fast or close around rocks or ruins (scout on ***? forget it dont even try to turn and shake him 1-4 fps)
the tunnel on the ice/snow map is UNPLAYABLE get DIASHOW IN THERE
just killed an hunchback cause he was commign head on and i hadnt to turn much with my awesome

Grafikcard is an Radeon HD 7750 Ultimate
16mbit DSL Telekom Germany and constantly 130-150 ping
dont know why world of tanks 20-50 ping
ITS UNPLAYABLE NOW
AND IM AN ***** ....... like i said im back here since 3 days had a lot of funn and GOT AN PREMIUM ACCOUNt 30 DAYS !!!!

Didn't think it was that simple but I went and tried it anyway, it didn't work.
I used TotalCommander to open the .pak files.

Have any of you tried that yet? I know it isn't ideal, but if it fixes things then it is good feedback to PGI that something they are doing in the patcher is breaking stuff.
I've also heard that there is a way to clear the graphics-related cache of the game, by deleting a specific subfolder... but I can't recall the exact one, so be careful trying that.

Have any of you tried reinstalling the game to see if that makes a difference? I have been waiting for someone to try that when having such issues, but haven't (yet) run into the low FPS issue myself.

1.6Ghz i7, 8gb RAM, Solid State Drive, 1GB GeForce GTX260M (tried updating the driver, no improvement). Game played on lowest settings I can select, even tried lower resolutions with no joy.
