Same here massive drop in FPS. Was getting very smooth gameplay 50-60+ FPS before patch. It is at 5-20 FPS now and unplayable.

Interesting thing: My CPU is maxed out but my GPU doesnt go above 50-60% utilization. Before the patch my CPU was 70% and my GPU utilization was close to 100%.

I've dropped all in game settings to LOW and no change in FPS or stuttering gameplay.

GeForce GTX 550ti 1 GB (newest drivers)

Though you most likely are correct about the level.pak files. I have no idea what they store in those .pak files but "substantially reduced file sizes" could mean better compression.

And better compression usually means more CPU power needed for decompression which could be the cause of our problems.

I was thinking the same, does anyone know if we unpack the .pak files in place of the original level files, will it run. I remember this was a problem in other games, the decompression of game files used up so much power, that the game would have major performance issues. A workaround was to unpack those files and it usually worked. Anyone tech savvy enough to see if this will work?

Yea that could actually be it, in the performance feedback thread people are saying cpu usage increased a lot this last patch.

Can anyone with a quadcore check this please:

I don't think this game uses 4 cores, could you (or anyone with a quad for that matter) check your cpu usage per core while ingame? Use windows or HWinfo to check it, screenshot and post it if you can.

Can't play the game now, every time I turn the mech the game stutters like no tomorrow.

May be just me but the fps drop seems to be worst on the "Forest Colony Snow" map. Must be the ambient temperature tweak that went in.

It's certainly Dual Core processor related - Having the most powerful graphics card / ram / ssd in the world won't solve it.

Tested with Q6600 Processor (Quadcore)- Running at 30fps on average at lowest possible settings.

4 Cores - 50-69% use...... and Yes, it uses all 4 cores.

So I Set affinity on the mechwarrior process (MWOClient.exe) to 2 cores (Simulating a dual core cpu).. FPS Instantly dropped down to 4-10 & the CPU was 51% used (CPU - was totally maxed out)

(Just so I don't have to point it out - 50% would be 100% CPU usage when only using 2 of 4 cores)

Anyone with quad cores, feel free to try the same via task manager > Processes > Right click, Set Affinity & uncheck 2 cores & apply...... No doubt will get the same results.

Update - Tested on my i7 Quad core processor and it seems fine even on dual core mode - but the i series processors are very strong compared to previous generations, so if anyone tries it on an i series & says I'm talking rubbish you know why

i got back 3 days ago (17th in germany) first tryed in closed beta and couldnt play with 10-12 frames

TILL THISS PATCH i had 60 in menu (capped at 60 cause monitor has 60hz)

and 24-37 ingame while moving at full speed trough city ruins or tunnels or fight enemy mechs

fast turning close combat with rockets exploding while trying to get scout of my *** got me down to 15-18 AT WORST

NOW i get 44-50 in menü falls down to 20 if i have other small window aktiv (means MWO need to be highlighted whole time to stay at 44-50 frames)

INGAME i have something around 22-27 frames at start while moving it drops down to 12-8 frames when moving fast or close around rocks or ruins (scout on ***? forget it dont even try to turn and shake him 1-4 fps)

the tunnel on the ice/snow map is UNPLAYABLE get DIASHOW IN THERE

just killed an hunchback cause he was commign head on and i hadnt to turn much with my awesome

BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS UNPLAYABLE and i stop it here

Using :
Motherboard: ASUS M2A-VM
with an AMD Athlon 64 dual core 6400+ and 6 gb ram
Grafikcard is an Radeon HD 7750 Ultimate

16mbit DSL Telekom Germany and constantly 130-150 ping
dont know why world of tanks 20-50 ping

ITS UNPLAYABLE NOW

AND IM AN ***** ....... like i said im back here since 3 days had a lot of funn and GOT AN PREMIUM ACCOUNt 30 DAYS !!!!

people told me frames where better 10-15 frames before last patch and i hoped you made an error and i get even better frames with this one....

now my premium time runs and i can no longer play it

Didn't think it was that simple but I went and tried it anyway, it didn't work.

I used TotalCommander to open the .pak files.

Confirmed then, the game uses 4 cores. Thanks!

Well I guess we just have to wait till they "fix" this.

I'm not having FPS drops (at least not on this computer - have yet to patch my main at home) but I have had problems with the game after several patches. The fix has always been to reinstall the game.

Have any of you tried that yet? I know it isn't ideal, but if it fixes things then it is good feedback to PGI that something they are doing in the patcher is breaking stuff.

I've also heard that there is a way to clear the graphics-related cache of the game, by deleting a specific subfolder... but I can't recall the exact one, so be careful trying that.

ya, sadly a pretty bad fps drop here too. Forest city used to be rough, now it's pretty unplayable.

I run 64 bit i5-450m 4 DDR3 ram HD 5650 1gb gpu I was running upper 20's low 30's prior to this patch. Now I hit low 20's upper teens

Lol I have the same specs [acer aspire 7741G] but my fps is way way way way lower now ... as 6 fps during combat wtf

But no problems with Crysis 2, 30 fps on High, I'm sick of this. Fix your game PGI !!!

They are too busy implementing 3rd person / world of mech changes to fix fps issues.

Have any of you tried reinstalling the game to see if that makes a difference? I have been waiting for someone to try that when having such issues, but haven't (yet) run into the low FPS issue myself.

Sign me up for this problem. Pretty good when there's nothing going on, but as soon as the fighting starts FPS drops hard...

1.6Ghz i7, 8gb RAM, Solid State Drive, 1GB GeForce GTX260M (tried updating the driver, no improvement). Game played on lowest settings I can select, even tried lower resolutions with no joy.
