Just wanted to comment to say we'll obviously be investigating why performance seems to have taken a hit the expectation was for performance to be largely comparable and somewhat better on forest colony. We're as disappointed as you are to see otherwise for this build.

I'll keep you updated as we learn more.

Awww crud I already had a huge FPS drop from 2 patches ago. Been running MWO on low settings already. Drop me by 10 more FPS and the games unplayable.

Prior to the patch the game ran fine, now I'm lucky to get 10-12 fps in a fight. All my settings are the same, anyone else having similar problems?

I come here to make a thread but you are faster than me to complain

I do have a really low fps since the patch.

it was really smoother before the patch.

I have experienced the same problem, fps 7-30, most often about 15-18.
It is unplayable. E8400 Dual Core with gforce 5500 ti here.
win 7 32 bit with 4 GB RAM

Same CPU and RAM, x64 OS, AMD 6950 2GB graphics card.

Major performance hit. Forest Colony Snow was smooth with 20-50 FPS pre patch, now it drops to 10 FPS.

Forest Colony plain, under 20 FPS at all times except when standing still and no mechs in view.

All in all, unplayable except for LRM boats.

Same pretty much, I just tried taking out a sniper build so I wouldn't need to move as much but's still to rough. I guess we just have to hope they get it straightened out and that it won't take another full patch to fix whatever is causing it.

i was already on minimum settings and was getting barely playable framerates... now it's just a slideshow after the latest patch.

framerates have been in a steady decline each patch and now i'm at rock bottom... I can't play anymore on this rig... my pc is not great but meets min specs but it cannot handle this game in it's current state

Also experiencing the fps issue after this patch.

Used to get 30's but post patch it drops to 8-10 as soon as you even think about looking at anything but the ground.

I'm fine on my quad cores, but it looks like dual core players really got screwed in this patch - plenty of complaining going on ingame & in a few other posts which seem to be getting deleted quite rapidly.

While i'm fine on my quad cores, it's also worth pointing out while I can play on Low / No AA settings the FPS is far from acceptable (10-20 on my laptop).... and this laptop can run Crysis 2 (same engine) on Advanced graphics quite easily.

my PC is better, getting around 15-29 fps on Low.... but it's still far from the 40+ I usually get from High settings on modern day games.

I too am getting 9-11 fps now. Never got particularly good fps (usualy mid 20s) but now it's unplayable.

This.

EDIT: Blank2k I don't think this game uses 4 cores, could you (or anyone with a quad for that matter) check your cpu usage per core while ingame? Use windows or HWinfo to check it, screenshot and post it if you can.

S!

Got SSD for both OS and games and this patch dipped the FPS for me on many maps and introduced stuttering. Forest Colony was not bad before now it is considerably worse dipping down to 30fps from the previous nearly steady 60fps.

*Re-created all level.pak files for substancially reduced filesize

I think this is whats causing all the fps issues with this patch, if I'm correct whatever they did with the level.pak files made hard drives bottleneck performance, hence the issues ranging from your average pc to top of the line hardware. A way to dismiss this would be players that have SSDs installing/copying the game there and checking how the game holds.

Any volunteer?

My game is installed on a SSD, I didn't reinstall it but I doubt very much drive bandwith is the cause.

I can't check in game right now, but if drive throughput or access time was the cause - the game would freeze on HDDs.

Though you most likely are correct about the level.pak files. I have no idea what they store in those .pak files but "substantially reduced file sizes" could mean better compression.

And better compression usually means more CPU power needed for decompression which could be the cause of our problems.

SSD Do not effect FPS. they ONLY help with loading times. thats all.

well so much for taking part in the little player/dev Pirahna hunt... can't even play with the fps in the toilet like this

will someone please headshot Russ Bullock's Dragon for me... because i'm having fuggin' EA corporate flashbacks right now... just when you think a patch can't get any worse... but hey great idea, host an awesome player event right after you release a patch... nothing is going to go wrong with that right?

Sure, but was asked above so answered :( SSD has improved gaming for me with faster loading speeds etc. and I get less noise and heat compared to standard HDDs. So a happy camper.

^Thanks, that dismisses my theory. Drives can effect FPS if the rest of the machine has to wait for textures to load while ingame. Most of it is done at the map loading screen but some still goes on in the background during matches.

Editing my previous post to avoid leading people into error :(
