It is unplayable. E8400 Dual Core with gforce 5500 ti here.
win 7 32 bit with 4 GB RAM
Same CPU and RAM, x64 OS, AMD 6950 2GB graphics card.
Major performance hit. Forest Colony Snow was smooth with 20-50 FPS pre patch, now it drops to 10 FPS.
Forest Colony plain, under 20 FPS at all times except when standing still and no mechs in view.
All in all, unplayable except for LRM boats.

Same pretty much, I just tried taking out a sniper build so I wouldn't need to move as much but's still to rough. I guess we just have to hope they get it straightened out and that it won't take another full patch to fix whatever is causing it.

Used to get 30's but post patch it drops to 8-10 as soon as you even think about looking at anything but the ground.

While i'm fine on my quad cores, it's also worth pointing out while I can play on Low / No AA settings the FPS is far from acceptable (10-20 on my laptop).... and this laptop can run Crysis 2 (same engine) on Advanced graphics quite easily.
my PC is better, getting around 15-29 fps on Low.... but it's still far from the 40+ I usually get from High settings on modern day games.

This.
EDIT: Blank2k I don't think this game uses 4 cores, could you (or anyone with a quad for that matter) check your cpu usage per core while ingame? Use windows or HWinfo to check it, screenshot and post it if you can.

Got SSD for both OS and games and this patch dipped the FPS for me on many maps and introduced stuttering. Forest Colony was not bad before now it is considerably worse dipping down to 30fps from the previous nearly steady 60fps.

I think this is whats causing all the fps issues with this patch, if I'm correct whatever they did with the level.pak files made hard drives bottleneck performance, hence the issues ranging from your average pc to top of the line hardware. A way to dismiss this would be players that have SSDs installing/copying the game there and checking how the game holds.
Any volunteer?
My game is installed on a SSD, I didn't reinstall it but I doubt very much drive bandwith is the cause.
I can't check in game right now, but if drive throughput or access time was the cause - the game would freeze on HDDs.
Though you most likely are correct about the level.pak files. I have no idea what they store in those .pak files but "substantially reduced file sizes" could mean better compression.
And better compression usually means more CPU power needed for decompression which could be the cause of our problems.

SSD Do not effect FPS. they ONLY help with loading times. thats all.
