Reporting Problem Players

ATM it's easy to spot a manipulator, hater or troll, simply because they don't have to hide their nature. Only the most extreme examples will make a blip on the mod's radar. When you start controlling the community more rigidly is when you start to get really epic trolling.

There's no reason to wait for the devs to "fix" something before you report abusive players. I've started to report every suicide, AFK and TKer that I am unlucky enough to drop with. I don't want to play with them again, and hopefully other people will benefit from that as well.
All I'd like to see is an up-to-date list of griefers who have been banned as a result of being reported, so that we can be sure that our emails to support@ are having an effect.

I think in a perfect world the suicide/griefing actions need to be de-incentivised. People will not suicide farm if it has no reward, people will not team kill if they forfiet all or half earnings for the match.
Ultimately, I think much of this will become a non-issue for many of us once matchmaking is fully implemented.

Yes. As I said, most wouldn't even do it if they weren't being paid for it.

Its not always so easy.
Yesterday I accidentally TKed a teammate. How so?
Junmped on a building. All was normal. Moved around a bit more into a corner. Then suddenly my leg was getting dmg.
WTF?
Thought some map-bug, so I tried to move away.
Before I could my leg was blown and the jenner (judging from the smoldering wreck) under me teamkilled. Fastest kill I ever got...
And AFK - yes I am often afk. Every tenth match or so. Because I click join a game, wait half a minute... and then the client crashes.
That are 95% of the people standing still from the start of a match imho.

Option 1 is a no go, since it WILL be abused for harassment probably by the exact folk it should be used to get out.
Option 2 would be nice though, but I don't see it happen since it boosts the cost for support staff. And increasing costs for customer support is not exactly a thing you usually see for F2P games. Also it would probably abused a lot to get a mod into the game to then flame about the balance of *insert weapon here*.

But I fear many people will use it to "pre-kill" good mechwarriors. (Elsewhere this is called sandbagging - you make yourself worse than you are and then brag about how you beat some weak player)

Dear Friend,
your thinking in solutions, not problems...thats awesome!
I have to drop a big "but", since the thing you are asking for will not come, and will never come. You might be able to ignore another player in chat or in social. But please, just think about the bottleneck in programming the matchfinder for people with that.

Yeah... That's still griefing. They still knowingly ruin another players game whether it's their focus or not. Grief = to cause others strife. Example: While you best friend might not intentionally mean to hurt you.... Do you think that just because it's in his own best interest he should be able to sleep with your Mom without punishment? I mean heck... He was only efficiently farming a couger right? You wouldn't be hurt by an action not specifically targeted on you right? Wrong...

I like the idea of a button at the end of the match but I can see the constant whiners abusing it. Unfortunately, I just don't see an easy way to reduce the abuse factor in any reporting system. It would need to come down to multiple reports from a single drop on a single person (utilizing a report button in each person at the end of a match).
An alternative would using an F key (say F12) and have a drop down box with populated with the names of in-game pilots (even diconnected ones), check boxes for the complaint types and a comment box for more detailed information. This combibed with a rule for multiple complaints per pilot in a single drop might work.
Just a thought to prevent PGI from getting overloaded and give them details.

I have heard of people doing this a lot.... but this is a lot of effort to ask most of the player base to do. Most will just let the problem go rather than to go through all the trouble. This doesn't help the community. I think there needs to be a simple way built into the game so that players can easily report problems.... thus making it more likely that problems will actually get reported.
Doesn't seem like much effort to me. Take a screen shot, open up a new email, type in a quick message and hit send. I have no definitive proof--it may have been a legitimate crash--so no need to write more than a sentence or two. "Suspect so-and-so of afk farming. The person launched with 78% armor, stood still the entire game, and didn't respond to messages." Screen shot has time stamp.
A do-not-drop-with list or even a button at the end of the match would be more convenient, but dropping a quick message to support is not a pain.
How about AFK or bot detection? If a person crashes in the first minute or two, somebody else drops in their place.

(tk, afk, op, bby. xyz)
I'm a little old and need some help, either that or please start spelling out what your talking about...
What problems are you guys talking about??
self-destructing...whats wrong with that? if they kill them selves you should get the kill anyway...simple fix.. If you don't get the kill take that ability away (bam) no more self destruct.. simple fix.
AFK farming?? whats that?
Frozen mech's at start up... kill them and get the points.....simple fix, no problem...
Someone said something about "feeding" feeding what? a player that joins a game for the simple purpose of blowing up to give someone points...
Oh well it happens...better kill him first and get the points yourself.

shooting other team mates.... absolutely! it happens in real life, real combat...if your teammate is a jerk blow him/her away and get the points....NP...simple fix..
what is it your really wanting to report? this is a game and people play games very differently, get over it and have fun..it's a game.
How can you troll while piloting in combat?

Everyone has played with the>
'yup' guy
aka
'4 days farming over 100mil cbills and my account is still not banned' guy. we all know his name. IGP knows his account name.
Moderators on this forum telling you report players suicide afking should really just stop. Hell there was a moderator who was actually doing it himself. At this point it is trolling.

There is no need for player moderation when the moderation can be done automatically with game data.
