the game was playable, and looked pretty good for low settings. Still jerky - especially when being shot by LRMS/SSRMS.
Still not where it was 2 patches ago with a custom user.cfg, 25-45 fps and no lag, but better than before a reinstall.
Having a large client side file to download and keep vs redownloading everytime we reinstall would be super helpful right now.

- How had the patch generally affected your performance?
Performance before patch was 68-120 FPS @ 1680X1050 on High Settings, After patch I run 1680X1050 Custom settings All low except shadows (cannot move them below medium, If I do the terrain flickers) at a frame rate of 10-50FPS. Also Prepatch I would get the Black screen once every 20-30 matches , and a Crash to Desktop Once a day if that much. Now I have experianced Hud failure to load, Yellow over lay with no hud, Mini Map and upper hud does not respond, CTD every time I complete a full Zoom cycle after firing a ERPPC in Zoom Mode. Mech lab will Freeze any time i take off a old componet and install a new one i must buy. Also crashes when installing double heat sinks, or modifiy the engine in a mech. (before mech lab would only crash when changing engines). Also disconnects from the server will cause the entire launcher to open a browser when clicked no mater where you click. Also Audio Studder and ******* Betty will stop working - Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
Forest Coloney All versions and Caustic - What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?

Short version:
3.1 MHZ QUAD Core
16 GB RAM
GTX570 w/ 4GB Of Video RAM
SETTINGS on VERY HIGH (LOW for Post Processing)
15MB/S FiOs in Virginia
FPS: 60 (Afterburner Limited)
Range from 35-60 FPS during normal game play.
From the looks of a LOT of those having problems with this game.. you may want to say for Beta sake
MINIMUM SPECS:
Quad core
8GB RAM
DirectX10 Video Card with 1GB of VRAM
Couple of teammates have improved performance on dual core and machines with 5 year old or so video cards and such by going with the new GT 630 nVidia cards on their older machines. They use standard PCI-E slots, only need 300 Watts, have 2GB of RAM. They cost less than $78 and can be bought at Walmart, Officemax, etc.. So some may want to try that fairly affordable upgrade.

ATI Radeon HD 4800 x2 Crossfire
Windows 7 64bit OS
I've been playing since Founders came into Closed Beta. Prior to the 27 Nov 2012, I had good FPS performance in game. Typically around 30 to 35 in combat. It was good enough that I was competitive, could keep up and could brawl really well in a fur-ball.
Since the last patch, my FPS have halved. Or worse for short periods of time in combat.
As it is, if I want to keep playing now I'm going to have to pick up a StreakCat or LRM boat to stay competitive in a fight. Which makes me a "Sad Panda". No idea what changed, but me no likey.

- How had the patch generally affected your performance?
- Pretty sure it has remained about the same, but has been steadily getting worse since it was changed to DirectX9.
- Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
- I don't seem to be getting the same issues as some others. I can usually play for several games with no issues. However, several of the people in my team have to consistently restart the client and/or computer or they crash. Since this last patch, I have crashed to desktop twice (which I don't remember happening before, but could have happened once in a great while). The first was immediately after patching when I started the client, I was able to login but then in the UI (Home/Mech Lab/Pilot Lab) Patching screen, it crashed. Then later that same night, while in a match, it also crashed to desktop.
- What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
- I am still at 1920x1080 at high settings and max PostAA (just noticed this, I'll change AA to Off now). I believe I've kept them at these settings since the last patch (although AA may have been Off before).
- Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
- Menus: 59-60 fps
- In game (moving): 25-30 fps
- In game (combat): 15-25 fps
- In game usually depends more on the map (high/low levels).
- System specs (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler])
- Windows 7 64-bit OS (SP1)
- Win Exp Index: 7.3
- AMD FX 8120 Eight core 3.1 GHz
- 8.00 GB DDR3 RAM
- nVidia GeForce GFX 550 Ti 1 GB DDR5 Video

- Per speedtest.net: 25.48 Mbps DL. My ping according to the [TAB] option in game is 30-50 ms.
- Location: Elizabethtown, PA (between Pittsburgh and Philly, PA)
I'm trying to hold my tongue, but these seem to be so urgent and these responses don't seem to offer any hope that it will be fixed SOON™.
Sorry... forgot two more things (after checking prior posts):
1. Audio clicks more common since last patch (Betty symptom?)
2. Like someone else just a few posts up, since the patch before this one, any time I purchase and install an item in Mech Lab, it freezes after I save as it 'zooms' out from the mech. It looks like as long as you don't BUY a new item and are just using items you have in inventory, you're fine. One evening when I was adjusting one AWS, it crashed EVERY SINGLE TIME I tried to adjust any purchased item. It got really frustrating and there's nothing I could do to prevent other than stop adjusting my mech. I haven't purchased a Mech since the last patch, so I don't know stability with new Mechs.

- How had the patch generally affected your performance?
Worse, much worse, I have been running custom user.cfg and lowest settings for as long as I can remember with this game to get it somewhat runnable, Mechlab ususally is around 20 FPS. In game I sometimes got would hit 30, but usually 15-25 FPS. This was at 1024x768. After the patch I just got out of a game where my peak FPS was 12, at 800x600, on lowest settings. - Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
My computer struggles most on River City and Forest Colony, but not forest colony frost. Caustic Valley and Frozen City play the best for me. In addition the video frame drop really seems to pick up when looking into the center of the map or during firefights - What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
As I have said very low, and then some, I have tried everything from last patch that got the game remotely playable, custom config, video card tweaking, installing the shader directory directly to RAM. - Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)

Last weekend, I decided to upgrade my old 9800 gtx+ card to a 560TI. The price was good and getting a $30 rebate on top that made it the right price. I was hoping it would at least make a little bit of difference in the MWO, but it hasn't.....at all. Same stuttery lag as soon as I get in close to an enemy and my fps drops below 10. I know my performance is hindered because i'm still running at 3Ghz core duo, but I just don't have the cash to drop on a new cpu/mobo/memory. To say I'm a bit disappointed buying a new video card didn't help this game's peformance is an understatement. I really don't get why this game's performance is so bad considering that other games that I play I can usually run in high or ultra setting. Setting the game to low, medium or high visuals doesn't seem to make a difference, I really don't get that. I will hold onto my new card in hopes that when PGI puts in DirectX 11, they will find a way to shift some of the processing from the CPU to the video card. If they can pull that off, it would be a boon to those of us with older CPUs. A lot of game companies when up updating thier game to the newer DirectX try and put in new visual features to give it the wow factor. Personally, the game already looks sharp, I just want it to run well.
The game's peformance has been discussed a lot on here, but really needs to be a focus for PGI. I know the different employees do different jobs and you can't just put a art/design guy to work on the performance side of the game, but game peformance really is a dealbreaker, at least for me. I really want to love the game. It is fun to play (well, it was before the 11/20 patch when I could play it without it slowing to a crawl every match). If PGI can't get this game to run decently on midrange rigs, they are going to lose a lot of customers in the long run. To survive as a F2P game, PGI is going to need as wide a fanbase as they can get to make this profitable. I'm sure they realize this and hope that they are working hard to figure how to get the game performance up to par on 2core machines.

next patch seriously needs to address this cause it's been the cause of so much trouble. the ssrm issue was caused because it was the only effective weapon in lag situations. and those who have a good server have been piloting the lights and exploiting this to no end. further more they deny any of the problems exsiting cause they are selfish "i want to win all the time, i'm on to a good thing don't ruin my good times" gamer. that's why i rarely see ping levels over 200 in matches now, founders are leaving the people like me on a poor server are leaving, just because of the expploiting few.
to think i'm running an corei5 aspire v3-571G with 2.5ghz-3.1ghz boost
not a poor performer by all accounts

I hope they're NOT working to improve performance on Core2 machines. It's not a good use of resources. The chips are, in technical terms, ancient paperweights. Even the very newest Core 2 Quad chip is over 4 years old, and the original Core2 Duo is over 8 years old. Time to upgrade, people. No computer is expected to last longer than 5 years.
There comes a time in every developer's life where they just have to stop trying to keep that dead horse alive. It's stunting their progress.

we'll see who keeps the MWO franchise going. us average laptop users or the big rig geeks. do you really want to keep pooring money in yourself because anyone lesser will be forced to buy better gear destroying the whole free 2 play concept?
i really don't see it happening.

lag that your talking about has nothing to do with PC specs, ping is your ISPs problem, not ours, not PGIs.
they do want to add regional servers which would help people who have high ping cause they live so far away from the game server. but i wouldnt expect this soon. once they add community warfare they will probly need to add regional servers.
ps. screw core2 machines, fix the random crashes and graphics bugs, let us log back into a game that we got dropped from, enable SLI/crossfire, hurry up with matchmaker phase 2/3. so many more things to do to make the game better then supporting ancient machines.
